has anyone got one? i think i'm in love, but not for mp3's :o for the file storage and usability, not to mention the potential

Yea I got one - 40GB. They're great but be wary the battery apparently goes dead after 18 months. But I think you can get a replacement for about ?50. Either way it's a nice little investment. You can even use it as an external HD :) So much room for expansion. Check out www.ipodlounge.com which is a great resource...

EDIT: the most important thing you need is a case. The one that comes with the iPod is terrible as it doesn't protect it. The silver back picks up skin oils and scratches really easily as does the screen. I use an iSkin although i wouldn't reccomend the white one as that gets dirty just as easily (well duh :p)

Ive had mine for year, and had to take it back for a replacement recently. The battery died:( They are really good though (When they work :rolleyes:)

I'm most disapointed with mine. Poor Battery life and the fact that it places extra gaps bettween all songs.

if i were to get an ipod it would be to store my music on... not for extra stuff.

i have an archos jukebox that has 10gb of space but i plan on buying an 80gb hd and then replacing the 10 with the 80 :)

if i had the money i would get an ipod.... because the look visually pleasing and the seem to have some nice features

Dean, the battery does not die after 18 months, that was a stupid rumour made my mac haters. What is true though is that the battery will die after about 500-700 FULL battery cycles (aka, you drain the battery to death about 500-700 times).

And yeah, I agree with you on the iSkin, one of the nicest cases out today. :)

I love the ipod too. Got the 40gig one and it's nearly always on- best feature for me is the shuffle mode, 40gigs worth of random music lasts a good long time!! Beats the radio any day.

Nope - not filled it quite yet ;) I need to get a USB cable as I have about another 10gb of music to transfer across and my firewire card on the laptop is slow :) NOte the battery is consumed extremely quickly whilst "syncing" - also don't install musicmatchbox - itunes for windows is fine :)
