what is up with aquarium forums and vbulletin 5?

It seems like all of the fish tank forums are moving to vbulletin 5. The members seem to like it for some reason. barrreport.com has moved to vbulletin 5, monsterfishkeepers with 7 million plus posts is moving to vbulletin 5, aquariuacenteral (owned by the owner of monsterfishkeepers) with 2 million plus posts is moving to vbulletin 5 and reefcenteral with 27 million plus posts is planning to move to vbulletin 5 by the end of this year. It seems that aquarium forum owners like vbulletin 5 for some reason. My fish forum is running phpbb and i plan to move it to vbulletin 4 in a few months.

Do yourself a favor stay with vBulletin 4 when you transfer your site from phpBB. Even if they all seem to like it remember vBulletin 5 has been reported to be pretty buggy and have many problems and in a couple of months the bugs may have those big sites asking someone to put their site back to vBulletin 4 like so many others.

They have no idea what vB5 means (desaster), and think hey, cool, new software, new features. Let's see how much they like it once it's done.

Anyway, the way the forum you linked to above in #6 is styled, I totally can understand that the users are grasping for straws. This must be one of the 10 most horrible styles I came across.

Yeah agreed. Right now its just being "tested" wait until they are done testing it. They will soon see that its not as cool as they first thought.
