American Government to censor The Internet and remove privacy

Washington Times: EDITORIAL: Internet passport - Washington Times

I think they know how Egypt was able to over throw their government and make a stand using The Internet and now fear the same will apply here. So there goes everyone's privacy and freedoms online.

I am not surprised by anything anymore.

Sounds like a huge exaggeration to me. Here's the actual statement: http://www.commerce.gov/news/press-r...ity-coordinato

ETA: also the word "censor" doesn't appear anywhere even in the washington times article, so I don't know what the deal with the thread title is.

Personally, I'm more worried over Net Neutrality than privacy...

very true.. well... heck , im sure people would never allow such things to even take place.... at least i hope so..

The government seems to want to have control over more aspects of Americans... and as Super man said it , Net neutrality is more of a reality than whatever these guys are planning

What else is new? I am not surprised with this news anymore, not at all. Imagine they could tap into your phone lines and actually listen to what you are talking about. If they could stomach that, what more than reading what we talk about online. That’s why there’s a big fuzz on facebook’s content privacy, because they could not make their way around it.

But we will sit back and do nothing...thats what we do best...

Egypt took to the streets to stop their govt corruption...

What do we do?

we moan and groan, and elect the wrong people...

end result?

We sit back and continue to do nothing....

We sit back and Rant and Rave...

and thats about it...

When we do take to the streets the media portrays those involved as lunatics, either too far left or right to be taken seriously.

^^ This is so true.

Honestly, I believe if we did try to do what the people of Egypt did... The Government here would declare marshal law and would have the military shoot us all, as compared to Egypt were it was generally kept peaceful.
