Split forum-trying to host two connected forums on one site with one license

The story is this. Someone wants to make a branch-off forum on my site-similar to my main forum, but with a slightly different concept. And of course, a different setup. But I'm not sure how to set this up with just one vBulletin license. It can't be a subforum on my forum. The setup on vBulletin.org is close, but it would be good to have it even more extended away, you know? So that it could have, for example, its own default theme, banner, and not as much of an obvious connection to the main forum. Is this possible somehow?

if its 2 seperate forums, it needs 2 seperate licenses

Let me link to an example of what I mean.
http://forums.gleemax.com

Check that out. Do they have something like 10 vBulletin licenses?

to me it just looks like several sections on 1 forum

RedeemedWarrior 02-26-2009 12:05 PM

its just differant sections using a custom forumhome template

MTGDarkness 02-26-2009 12:08 PM

Well, I basically need something that is either like that or like the system here at vBulletin.org. Are there MODs for that?

RedeemedWarrior 02-26-2009 12:16 PM

looks more of a template edit to me, do you have any skill with such things? :)

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...ight=forumhome is a good base to work from

I'm about as good with template edits as a random HTML hack with firebug can be. :p AKA, not very good.
The hack you linked to isn't really what I need...

Basically, something like this, but that differentiates a bit more; like one part of the forum which can have their own default style and look different from the other... and preferably not with AJAX, but normal linking.

Sounds like you need an iframe. I do understand the concept but I do not know how to do such a thing. This would link your forum directly to the page section, but It would have to be a subforum.

From your description it seems that you want to create 2 seperate boards, with different content, different style etc. Regardless of the technical implementation, this will always require 2 licenses.
