Good News. Regarding Writers Strike

Breaking: Writers' Strike End Imminent

it seems this week's rumors that the writers' strike is coming to an end may indeed be true. We are hearing from several sources that the WGA and the AMPTP are "very close" to a deal, which could be announced as early as later today.

According to reliable insiders who asked not to be named, the writers and producers were in talks for nine hours yesterday and made a "staggering amount of progress," as all of the major sticking points have been settled.

"We are 99.9 percent of the way there," one source inside the negotiations said. "As of late yesterday, just a few small issues remained."

The stickiest issue of all, compensation for new-media projects, has been agreed upon by both sides, according to sources. Said one: "There is most certainly light at the end of the tunnel, and we are rapidly approaching it."

Stay tuned, and keep those fingers crossed. An announcement could come any minute.

Thank god, Can't stand this reality TV anymore!

You're still stuck with an 8 episode season of lost, and no more heroes. Damn writers!

I'm an Associated with the WGA! yohoo!

Personally, I think it's a pile of crap. You get a job, and sign a contract. You can't just decide that contract isn't good enough anymore; because you see an opportunity to get more money.

I would have sacked them all. Plenty of writers out there who would jump at the chance to work in the roles.

See if I had a company I would be like ok suit your self. And I would hire writer who is just coming out of school ;]

What was the whole strike over? I heard it was a bout internet sales?

That's like saying there's plenty of animators coming out of colleges around the country who could work for Pixar if they laid off all their animators. That's absolute rubbish. Writing is a highly skilled job and the reason some of these shows are such a success is down to them. Considering a hell of a lot of revenue is now coming from other media channels than DVD and TV playing, they are right to cover themselves :)

Still, they completely ruined my TV season :(

I guess I'm one of those people that think the writers deserve a slice of any internet sales. I have to admit a little bit of disappointment that heroes was cut short but they do deserve the luxuries that the tv companies get from external sales.
