Possible templates for ticker: header, navbar, footer.

vB ACP -> Styles & Templates -> Search in Templates

I used it in my portal on the home page (not within the forums area) and it was placed below my news area. I've used both the ticker and the rotating banner. What traffic are you wanting to draw to it?

not really wanting to use it as a draw but just to do something that may help someone one day.

your idea sounds good, putting it on the homepage.

speaking of portals, where can i learn more about those. im really new to all this and my site is basically under construction. i asked about a homepage and someone explained to me that it sounded like i was looking for a portal. can you explain this or point me in the right direction please. thanks.

There are three main portals for vB to choose from.

vBAdvanced, vBPortal and MK Portal

The most commonly used one is vBAdvanced. vBPortal has integration problems with vBPlaza as they both create the same table in the database, and MK Portal does not use the same stylesheet.

I'd check them all out, and take it from there.

What I mean is do you want everyone to see it, or set it up for guests, or just for your members? I had it set up originally for everyone giving member the option of displaying it.

Yes, just follow the installation instructions then configure it to your hearts content. It automatically integrates.

well i didnt feel like installing it once i saw the low charge of 15 to have it installed. plus ive been busy and i figured why not just pay.

well that was two days ago and still nothing. no one has even been assigned to my support ticket.

now im thinking ill just install it.

i have a home page(which is basically nothing right now) and a forums page.

where exactly do i install it and is it easy?

thanks for your help.

The instructions that come with vbadvanced give you the steps to install it - it was pretty easy for me.
