fneumeier,

hyphens are added by IE browser for the "structural" display only.
Please PM me sitemap URL that you submit to Google.

I have been using this vBSEO mod for some time, but I have just setup Google Sitemaps (BETA) for our entire web site. When I set up Google Sitemaps (BETA) I used the Directory paths and Access logs options.

Will this mean I no longer need this vBSEO mod, or should I also point Google Sitemaps (BETA) to the sitemaps that this mod creates with the Sitemap option?

Thanks.

Bob

firstrebel,

Only the pages that were accessed by visitors before will be included in sitemap in case of using it, since it uses access logs to get the URLs for your site.

Sorry, my fault. I fact in the original file the hyphens are not there. (any need to say that I hate IE??)

I'll do some more tests and will send you the sitemap via PM is the problem still exists.

Thanks
Franz

Quote:

Directory paths —specify the directory paths for your site and corresponding URLs to those paths. The Sitemap Generator will create a list of URLs based on the contents of those directories. You might want to use this method if your site consists of static HTML files.
I use this as well so won't it trawl the entire directory structure? 9 site map .xml.gz files and a sitemap_index.xml file were created with a total size of 2358Kb, so it suggests all the files were indexed.

It might be a good selling point for you to extend this mod to cover an entire web site, not just the vB forum. ;)

Thanks

Bob

firstrebel,

yes, as your quote states, "You might want to use this method if your site consists of static HTML files", which is NOT the case when you use vBUlletin (or any other server-side script). It means that your sitemap was created from the entries found in access log (i.e., already visited pages only).

Our Sitemap Generator supports "add-on" modules (allows you to include pages for vBulletin hacks/mods you have installed) and extra-urls.txt file where you can manually add any other URLs.
As for automatic including of non-vBulletin related pages, it is a bit out of original idea and will require totally different approach for this. :)

Thanks. It should be OK to keep them both running separately?

firstrebel,

Yes, it should not be a problem.

Hello!
I've just installed this mod and I keep getting "Google ping: FAILED". What should I do to fix it?

iojam 05-23-2006 09:04 AM

anzo,

probably your server configuration disallows network connections for php script. You should just manually submit your sitemap URL to the Google Webmaster account (only once, not every time the sitemap is generated):
