How do i fix this? or is there a way to get it to write to the root of my site? |
bruss,
please try to modify your vbseo_getsitemap.php file: FIND: Quote:

sitemap files are physically stored in vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder, but you will access them with vbroot/sitemap_xx.xml.gz using the rewrite rule entered in .htaccess. |
I could not find a .htaccess file in my forum root and created one with the needed code. The second I did, the forum went down. I removed it and the forum was up again.
Is there a certain way to do this if you don't have a .htaccess file already? Would there have been a .htaccess file there that was just invisible I overwrote? And lastly, and what would I have done by overwriting any previous .htacess file? |
TitanJeff,
it is possible that .htaccess file in invisible in your ftp software. To resolve this, you can create empty .htaccess file and upload it to your forums root. |

I assume there wasn't one there previously. Why would one I create have caused this? Thanks. |
TitanJeff,
it is possible that your apache doesn't have mod_rewrite installed or your server config doesn't allow rewrite directives in .htaccess files. You can contact your hosting suport regarding this. |
Thank you vBSEO.com

EDIT: Just got word from my host that they do allow rewrite directives so I assume I goofed something up. What would be the best way to create this file? I'm a mac user and used a plain text editor to create the file. Thanks. |
coffee,
you are welcome! :) TitanJeff, it should work with plain text editor. PM sent |
"Unsupported File Format" again, sorry. I've read the postings about this topic and couldn't solve my problems ...
When looking at the sitemap generated by the generator I recognize hyphens that in my opinion do not belong there - so my guess is that this is the reason for the problem? If so, how to change it? Here is how it looks like in the sitemap generated: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> - <urlset xmlns="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84 http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84/sitemap.xsd"> - <url> <loc> ... Thanks. Franz |
