Hi VBDev- I'm not talking about number of posts in order to use chatbox- I'm talking about the Maximum number of chats in 24(h) My archives shows I have 843 chats total in the archive which dates back to Dec 18th. And I have to have my limit above that or else I get the I'm over the limit message. So it obviously is not counting chats in 24hrs- it's counting all chats in the archive.

Is it possible to put a .gif image to the chatbox's background? and if it is, how? :)

Well I already uninstalled it. It pretty much quit working for everyone so it was a dead fish in the water.

adnedarn, thanks... it worked. Actually you need only images with *_sel.gif and *_nosel.gif.

I think there should be some info in a Readme file about adding images to new channels. Because it isn't easy for new users to "imagine" how to add them.

Moreover there is only a text Name of the channel image in AdminCP, there is no info about puting a name mgc_cb_evo_(channel_name).gif in front of channel name to make it work!

Well if you look closely it's stated that the extension, _sel and _nosel are not to be inputed !!!

The mgc_cb_evo prefix is not mandatory at all !!

You just have to put everything in the name of your image before the _sel.gif or _nosel.gif or _new.gif, that's all.

Thanks for this great mod! Unfortunately it seems that the performance is quite unusable. On my site it takes about 30-40 seconds until a posted message appears in the channel. Did I miss some delay-settings or anything?

I see that you have a feature request for a chats per min flood control- to be honest that could replace the chats per 24hours I think.... Control over per min. vs control over per 24 hrs.... the per min control will be more effective. So, your call on that.

Did you play with the settings in the usergroup manager of the admin control panel? There is the option "Refresh rate in seconds (if auto refresh is active)." to set refresh rates for each usergroup. I think 30 was the default... but don't remember now.

Correct, all tables have a prefix. The prefix is missing in the import script I think.

Yeah that's weird because the v1.5 tables don't come with a prefix before the name so unless an older version was made to do that I'm not sure how they would have gotten like that unless someone manually changed them. I dunno I'm sure VBDev can shed some light on the subject :)

i was wonting some one to upload the files that get edeted to sort the bugs but i did a fresh install deteted it all again and uploaded it all and seems ok now im using (vBulletin 3.7.5) now since i was getting the probs could this of sorted it ??

I don't know if you mean server intensive or usability wise... but here is what I'm thinking. Say you want no more than 6 chats a min. per person. And you assume someone is going to send 6 chats a min for the 5 hours they're on the forum.... That's 1800 sends. But then you have someone else that is only there 1 hour a day- They can send 1800 shouts in that 1 hour and be fine. That's what I'm trying to avoid so it seems a time frame shorter than 24hrs would be better. Maybe not 1 min.. maybe 15 mins? or even an hour? Hope that makes sense. :)

How difficult would it be to include a variable so that if someone has the chatbox "full and a popup window" like it is on my site, that it won't show the chatbox above the forums in duplicate? A lot of my users like to use one monitor to chat and the other to use the forums. My old chatbox was of the IRC / Java variety and hooked up to efnet. I used Iframes to display it above the forums, and that replaced the vb header to make it look seamless.

I'd like to display the chatbox in an iframe again, but i'll live with just it popping out and disappearing from the forums.

Thanks. I thought i'd mention that this mod is a VERY easy, yet extrememly robust system to install. I don't know if you know this, but vbOptimize mod messes with it. Of course your chatbox wins out over the optimizer. I booted it! People are using this chat mod HARDCORE! check it out. www.quad4forums.com


PS... I have noticed one error that comes up, but doesn't really affect performance.... I get a script error "SOMETIMES".. You know, it says "Done, but with errors on page." When i pull up the error code, I get an error on line 3 character SOME RANDOM NUMBER but > 2000 usually. Error is object expected. URL: http://www.quad4forums.com/forums/mg...o=view_chatbox Usually a page refresh clears it up, but that error also comes with "loading..." and not much more from the chatbox. I've also had some probs with ajax "hanging" but nothing too bad. Just the little circle thing next to the OK button keeps going forever. Not too bad for free!

Yea, few members are mentioning the same issue about the ajax error.

Also, small issue.. When pressing "ENTER" when you are private messaging someone, it CANCELS the whole message rather than sends it! :) Just wanted to mention it so you know about it.

I have a same problem, and not just that characters.... ALL special characters not showing, and after that I must refresh page to send any other message.... Characters not shown (some of them): ?Đ?ČĆ?đ?čć and NOT working with ? and %... maybee some others....

Any idea? Where can be a problem.... All charachters (?Đ?ČĆ?đ?čć) working on forum posts with no problem....

I have a big problem with my chatbox. I have deinstalled the addon and now there is this mistake:

I'm betting that your chatbox table is gone for your sql database now, but something in the php or java is still referencing it. Make sure your vbulletin plugins don't still reference the chatbox somehow.

I'm betting you didn't follow the instructions on how to uninstall. Reinstall it and follow the directions to uninstall it. That should fix it.

Um, if you don't see it at all, you either didn't install it right, didn't setup usergroups...

If you see the chatbox and nothing is happening and it's saying loading it's a different issue. You clearly said it wasn't showing, not loading. Sounds like it wasn't done right.

All the files have been installed correctly. It's just werid. I can't see the Chatbox and checked my usergroups

Screen shot the usergroup settings for your usergroup for the chat and post.

Chatbox not working any more after updating to vB3.8. The chats won't be displayed any more. You can write something into the chatbox, but then you can see the messages only in the archive.

Completely reinstalled - same problem.

Uninstalled for now.

About the feature request, this is too specific I am not up to adding it sorry.

Have you problems with other ajax features within vBulletin ? Like quick reply based on ajax for example.

The private message thing is stated in the feature list ;) It's not a bug, it's just not supposed to work like that by default within yui popups that's all.

When you say that it works for forum posts.
Is it with english language or the one of your own language ?
Is this forum posts with ajax enabled ?

This is not an error coming from my chatbox. My database tables are not called like that.

Is it default style or custom one ? Try different chatbox positions and if it works for one check the readme there is a little how to about the issue with some styles.

Hum really ? It was reported as working for vB3.8 strange you encounters errors. I haven't been able to test myself.

Installed this with 3.8 and all I got was a constant loading message. Archive would update but shoutbox failed. Had to disable and switch back to inferno.

Vbdev, sorry I didn't mean to be too specific. What I meant on my feature request could be summed up by saying...

"If the chatbox is in full mode, don't display it anywhere else in small mode in other windows (like above the forums)"

Also for the error, I think it might be an issue with ajax. I can't really get a screen shot b/c all you see is nothing happening. no chat scrolling. It just kinda freezes until you chat again, then you see whatever you missed all at once. Everything that everyone has posted comes through at one time.
