Love it, BUT, IMG tag doesn't work although it's turned on in the permissions of each category.

v3articles.com and v3arcade are gone, this hack isn't supported particularly well here by the author and v3articles is supposed to be better.
Time to uninstall, I think.

v3Articles has been unsupported for months and months, it has only recently relied on small updates from community members here and there to fix security flaws etc.

If someone has no articles system installed then I would agree that this is probably not the one to pick anymore, but if you already have it installed and working then why remove it just for the sake of it, aren't you just creating yourself work transferring to another system (or losing all your articles) ?

I am keeping an eye on the other article systems, but only one currently allows user submissions (like this one) - and at the moment, this system does the job we want it to do, so I see no reason to change. :)

I have been frustrated with the inability to search the Articles using the standard search system. And administrating them has been unweidly.
I've picked the Geek system since it allows you to import the v3articles.
And it sensibly stores the articles in the main database tables.
A no brainer, ten, really, considering our position.
Thanks, guys.

I've managed to install this no problems, but when I try to access the category, I get this database error:

Code:

Database error in vBulletin 3.0.5:

Invalid SQL: SELECT * FROM article
WHERE categoryid=1 AND (articleuserid=1 OR open IN (0,1)) ORDER BY dateline DESC LIMIT 0,

Anyone have any ideas?

I tried going to www.v3articles.com but it doesn't resolve.

Thanx, looks like a wonderful hack, just what I need, just need it to work now :D

At a guess, you did not follow the bit of the instructions that tell you to go into the v3article options - and save them. :)

steadicamop 04-19-2005 09:23 PM

That might be the issue .. I've uninstalled it for the time being, will reinstall it and see if that's the issue ... thanx!

I have tried all of the article systems and I believe this one, by far is the most stable and the one with the fewest install problems....

This one is also actually an article system with an article.php page.... Not just basically another forum like another article hack ( no offence intended ) ...

If you guys are having problems just go in and manually edit your database and reinstall or what ever....

PHP Code:

MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 2

That right there tells you that you made a mystake in your editing.......

Here is a tip and I know there are many here smarter than me but this just might help you... When editing your templates... First thing- Create a folder and save all of them in it... Then if you have to start over you can!!

Create another folder - A work folder for the templates you are going to edit. Use a good program like WYNSYNTAX . If you have to remove some of your edits you can just click undo...... Worst case you still have the back up folder.... just start over...

Hope I helped in some small way........ I think this is a great hack and I thank John for it....
