Besides that I'm getting the following error when trying to run the script.

No no.. the .htaccess makes the visitor (google) think that www.yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz is in the root.

Also, you need to point to the .xml.gz sitemap files, not the php file.

you should submit: www.mydomain.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz

Make sure that you have set permissions correctly (0777 for vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder).

That was my problem; the fact that I didnt chmod 777 my /data folder.

And I'm submitting the correct path to google now. Thanks again!

One last question...

I tried submitting the direct path to that file you told me and google says
"We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit."

У меня возник не большой вопрос, у меня стоит мод - ecdownloads, я бы хотел чтоб ссылки на файлы так же входили в данную карту ссылок, как я понял нужно добавить файл в папку - addons, но мне не приходит в голову идеи как его сделать (что должно быть внутри?)

you should submit http://mydomain.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz (without vbseo_sitemap/data/ part). Make sure that you have rewrite rules in .htaccess as described to get it working.

I'm tried submitting http://mydomain.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz and now I get this error:

"We couldn't find the Sitemap at the location you provided. Please make sure the Sitemap URL is correct and resubmit your Sitemap.
Example: http://www.google.com/sitemap.xml"

And yes I do have rewrite rules in my .htaccess (which I uploaded to the root since vbulletin runs in the root folder).
