Personally I think talk is cheep.. Changing the graphics and descriptions are cheap.. What everyone is a waiting for is the meat and potatoes... Where's the beef.... When members see that, I promise there will be TONS of praise, including from me.

I've taken up the ireviews issue with paypal so they are looking into it for me. In the mean time, ireviews removed the conversation I had with them over why I am unable to use this and them admitting it cannot be modified, they have locked my profile to their product. What ever happened to good business practice: if someone isn't happy I would always try to resolve a dispute amicably and if that doesn't work, I would happily refund something that wasn't right for someone. Looking forward to this Chris, |

FYI, I was one of the first purchasers of forummods review CMS once there was an actual installable product. Even if yours came out later, I still would have bought it because I believe in supporting actual development. |

I wanted to propose something, I know a lot of people here are wanting a slider, but instead or in addition to working on a slider, why not also work on something that will pull x number of articles from x category. currently no such Widget / Plugin exists for vbulletin and it could be a great addon for the cms. Something similar to a Editors Picks. Improving the code on something like this - https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...14#post2329514

Therefore this thread is not about vbCMS. |
We decided to give up on vBulletin. We are going to venture with new problems onto IPB. At least IP.Content looks powerful and easy enough to create your own stuff. Since it looks we are going to have a lot of manual work with the reviews.. well lets do it to a different platform.
Alfa1 thanks for chasing this so long and good luck in the future. |

I see. Yes Of course, There are too many problems with the vBCMS indeen. We have been using it on one of our forums for the past 2 years and it barely meets the CMS requirements, opposed to something like wordpress, SEO is still a issue for those that dont use vBSEO and even then you have issues. But I wonder by the time there is a full fledged CMS alternate to vBCMS it would seem that they have already moved on to vB5. You are right I think I might be on the wrong thread entirely, i could swear i saw an exact same thread last year around here somewhere that was asking to combine funds to hire someone to make a slider. :erm: Well I guess I will have to seek my CMS improvement requirements else where, at least until you guys come up with the alternate "new" CMS. Good Luck  |

Anyway, see you at IPB. |
Does anyone know if forumsmods.com will ever be back? It says it will be, but who knows? I know it had the same message before (like 5 months ago) and did eventually come back.. I'm just wondering if I should try to initiate a paypal complaint/refund request -- if that's even possible after several months.

Asked this on his feedback form in his forum but yet haven't received an answer. To keep the thread clean from this I opened a group on vb.com

This entire thread is one big tease. I hate to be a downer but I think we've all about had it.
|
I haven't had any problems with the ForumsMod release. I am using it. I'm working on a custom music mod for my site that will use the review system as well.

Can someone with a bit of free time compile a list of post-GARS review products, both working and in development?

Hi All
I have been using VB for a long time now and like everyone else the lack of a Review Mod has for lack of a better word sucked. I've given up building one that is totally integrated and moved to finding a really good stand alone and backward integrating into VB so at least the long in is universal. With the log in being passed and being able to customize the header and footer that is good enough for me. I've done the same sort of thing for a good eCommerce solution and it's worked fine. You can check out my fishing site to see what I have done in the way of mods and integration. In regards to Reviews I picked an application made by Crowd Vox. It's the most robust and customizable php Review script I have found. I am integrating the log in with vB and will have it done in three weeks time at the most. If anyone is interested in chipping in to have the mod to make it work please contact me. Brandon at Tidal Fish dot com. If you want to wait to see what it looks like once I have it stood up that is cool as well. It's not the absolute perfect solution, but as long as it's a seamless customer experience with a robust back end that is what matters for me. Thanks Brandon |
Crowd Fox looks good, but the problem I have with it is that it does not show up in 'whats new', so users will not see new reviews and it stays largely unused.

It's possible that updates in the reviews could get put into the What's New stream. Do your users use the What's New a lot? |
Currently I have no reason to start using vb4. My site is still on vb3 and its possible that I will never use vb4, as vb5 is around the corner and who knows what IPB and XF will come up with.
But to answer your question: If reviews and review comments would not turn up into the whats new function, the activity stream, etc, then reviews will not get used or noticed. For example: Only a few of my 120.000 members use photepost, blog, social groups. Simply because the content never reaches my members. Its hidden away. |
If anyone decides to go ahead with combining funds for replacement CMS as discussed give me a PM. I'll go in.
|
We are willing to take on this project. Its massive, and not quite part of our strategy, but see here:
http://vbsocial.com/custom-mods |
It looks OK. But for the price they are asking, semi encrypted, add-ons for some basic stuff, overall cost is insane. I'd rather use a solid wordpress reviews plugin or theme (some totally rock) and not even bother with this. Right now I have wordpress integrated with some of my sites which allows users with an account (registering at VB or WP) who can post reviews as they wish. That's what I'm going to do next.
Regarding CMS, it's the same thing. I've given up on VB, won't wait 6 months to see if it's even halfway decent when Wordpress is miles ahead, standardized, mature and has the benefit of much more flexibility. Disappointing that both don't run under the same engine but having the same username can give you flexibility to have links to user's content on profile pages in both directions. |
I can also $ 200

Just a short notice because some of you may find it useful, Forums Mods went online again.

Sneak Peak Of My Review Mod (User Reviews) Page.
vFcoders - vBReviews is as big as vBCMS and it has every feature which is listed in first post of this thread. Will release free version by end of this month here in vbulletin.org and pro version in vfcoders. Regards Aayush |
Wow, that looks really good Aayush - any change you will make an importer for vba Dynamics?
