yep, just like what vbulletin offers, it would be good to have the same functionality as the source code.

I've used it to place small images in the forum title.

Sorry, wrote this in a hurry :)

I mean parse html (or img) in the description..

so if im looking at vblinklist.php?do=showcat&catid=1 - looking at the list of links the description doesnt show the IMG or HTML code ive inserted (for an image)

Thanks

I don't know how I missed this. Vossi, congratulations on an incredible product, so much more mature than its age would indicate! I look forward to giving this one a shot.

One major drawback with vBa Links that has kept me from going that route was it's lack of import/export features. Do you plan some sort of exporter (.csv, xml) in the future? And even more important, allowing CSV/XML importing, and a DMOZ/Open Directory importer.

Again, great job. Very exciting project.

Actually I once wrote an import/export-class for vBulletin (using .csv), so i can implement it if it's needed.

I dont find the part where Trevor says anything about the linklist being responsible for this. I just tested this locally and have no problems with it.

ceho 02-18-2011 04:38 PM

I am using the link directory as well and I don't have any problens with RSS, neither in the blogs sections nor anywhere else. I don't even see how the link directory should affect RSS feeds. Looks like something else is causing your issue...

your24hourstore 02-18-2011 06:14 PM

yea it was another mod

deverill2010 02-20-2011 06:53 AM

Is there anyway to charge users using the subscription feature for adding links?

traen 02-23-2011 03:08 PM

I assume if I have the cms installed I will also have to upload the vbulletin-cms folder?

Saviour 02-23-2011 06:22 PM

I know this mod is for 4.0.8. Can anyone confirm it working...and working as it should on 4.1.x?

Thanks to any who respond...

LoveStream 02-23-2011 06:36 PM

Hello coder.
Could you support cms widget?

Thank you.

I've read through some of the pages, but not all 23 yet and I have to get to work. Any 3.8x versions of this great mod floating around? If not, is there another solution?

No 3.8.x-version available, sorry.

kersti 03-02-2011 03:40 PM

Has anyone managed to mod this so that it pulls thumbnails from a directory on the server rather than a third-party thumbnail service?

ceho 03-03-2011 07:50 PM

It's been a while, do you have a rough idea when the new version might be available :)?

Mark4865 03-06-2011 08:38 AM

okay this is going to sound like a really dumb question but when adding a link what URL format do you use.

I tried http://www.example.com and www.example.com with both formats the red cross comes up on the right to show error.

Sorry didnt read all 23 pages id someone has asked

Well, it depends on the server function aswell on the availability of the linked site and it it allows to fetch the informations. This function is a thing to play with but has no important binding.

You're welcome ...

Quick question ....

I notice that there's no way for someone to right click to cut-n-paste the code that appears in the Link our site Sourcecode to include in your page to link our site box area.

It doesn't seem to be recognized by the mouse, which means if someone actually wanted to use the code, they'd have to write it down, then type it manually into their web site?

Can this be made to be able to be cut-n-pasted?

Thanks .. :)

Regards,
Doug

Yes, it can. Open the template "vblinklist_home" and search for
PHP Code:

<textarea name="linktous" id="linktous" rows="5" tabindex="1" cols="80" dir="{vb:stylevar textdirection}" class="{vb:raw content}" disabled="disabled">{vb:raw link_to_us_text}</textarea

In that line you simply delete
PHP Code:

disabled="disabled"

and everything should be fine then. This bug is fixed in the next version also.

Thanks Vossi, once again sorry to sound so dumb but do I just ignore the red cross when typing in the URL or am I doing something wrong when trying to list a link??

Yeah, just ignore the red cross. :)

onehost 03-08-2011 06:14 PM

Vossi,

I have heard more then once that google does not like link exchanges...maybe in the past it was ok
for people to provide a legit link to a website, but we know today that 99% of those that even
think about using link directories are spammers. LE's are spam magnets to drawing the wrong
type of crowd to your website, so it doesnt really matter what I think, but what does google
really think? all you need to do is search for link exchange stuff, and it will not be long before
you run across someone that thinks they know what they are talking about...so goes google
really think bad about sites that use link exchanges? I guess if anyone knows, then it will be
those that really use this, and the coder that codes a script/mod, why would anyone use
a mod if google was against it, and why would a coder code a mod if it was going to be useless with google.

Vossi 03-08-2011 07:22 PM

If somebody has a problem with the link exchange, he can turn it off. Easy like that...

thats not what I asked.

If you were hungry, would you just ignore that, and just not eat?

pretty much what you did with my question, just ignored it, maybe
you know it, maybe you dont, or just pass it off as merely if you do
not like it or have problems, then just turn it off...

If we have to turn it off, then why would ANYONE want to use it?

and it is "easy as that...."

Vossi 03-09-2011 03:58 AM

Actually I dont see your problem. If there's something you dont like about the mod, then ignore it. Also the point between link exchange and google aint cleared yet, using link directories is not a problem unless you make it to your own personal problem now.

txsbmw 03-10-2011 04:39 PM

Love it, but quick question....

Is there a way to add a field to the new entry form? We require a link back depending on the site and would like for that field to be there so we can easily check to see if our link is on their site before we approve it. Additionally, is there a way to make it viewable (once it has been submitted) viewable only to certain groups (random guests and members don't need to see that link displayed).

Hope I made sense.

I would like to know where to change these settings as well.

Edit: Do you just need to upload the files to the admin/mod folders and that's it? I haven't installed this yet, awaiting a response.

Hello Vossi ... :)

I think I found a critical error ...

As a test, I exported the list to back it up, then imported it ...

Got a duplicate KEY SQL which crashed the database ...

Because of the private info that appears in the SQL error, I've sent it to you via PM....

I'm not sure why there would be an error, but it's on key 1:

MySQL Error : Duplicate entry '1' for key 1
Error Number : 1062

The only other thing worth noting is that I created the entries under by username "Badger" and then changed them using your built-in change function to appear as being entered by username "Admin", which is how it would have been saved, so I don't know if that's a factor or not.

Regards,
Doug

Edit: ooops ... you have PM function turned OFF, so I'm not sure how to send you the SQL error data?

AzHousePro 03-28-2011 04:14 AM

Looks like I am getting the same error as ash...

MySQL Error : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'TYPE=MyISAM' at line 20
Error Number : 1064
