I've checked her IP. It is a static IP address. I checked all of her IPs when searching for her ips in vbulletin admin.
They are all the same. 98.249.54.16 http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/98.249.54.16 culpepper virgina. Also in the session table it has that address. I checked with phpmyadmin with cpanel. Is there anyway I could manually put a piece of code in the usermap.php to show her on the map if usermap sees that number in session table? |
If you look in the sessions table, does that user have more than one entry (based on userid)?
|
No sir.
I click on userid in the session table and I only see her userid once. Her userid is 3014 and host is 94.249.54.16 in the session table. |
for this to work for most members we are going to need the geoip install instructions because i cant figure that install out and there site is not very helpful!!
|
Yeah. I never messed with servers much. I just tinkered with my dedicated server and it finally worked.

I swear. There is no pin anywhere near virginia. Is it cached? Anyway to clear cache? The first time I ran this output it said chatanooga. So I downloaded file again and its output said culpepper |
I downloaded the geoipcity.dat file again and it moved her from chatanooga to culpepper but it does not show up on map.
|
I checked the session file and she is still in the file.
|
It does cache their location until they time out of the session/who's online (15m by default on vB for them to not be online).
|
Its been a whole day and she still doesn't show up on the map but on the session file. That is weird.
Your code shows them in culpepper, the ip 98.249.54.16 is on the session database but know pin anywhere near culpepper virginia. |
I've installed GeoIp but i get empty page only, nothing showing...
vb version 4.1.10. - is that problem? |

Ok. No errors. I'll see where's the problem then
|
Is there an option for usergroups can view?
I would like only Admin, Super Mod and Moderators to view...for now. :) If not how? |
I, too, could not see a map; I turned on PHP errors then saw an error concerning GeoIP and not being able to find GeoIPCity.dat. Unfortunately, GeoIPCity.dat is not free, but GeoLiteCity.dat is, so I downloaded it then created a symlink from GeoIPCity.dat to GeoLiteCity.dat. Voila! Now works.
Thanks for the addon! |
Sorry @laebshade
I can see map. ...I am glad it works for you too. :0 I only wish to have Admin, Super Mod and Moderators to view...for now. |
I want to confirm that now it's working!
|
How can i add view map next to the currently users online?
|
|
thanks
|
Hey DP -
I know you still have the original version of this program available on your website. Is there a way, or a version, of this cool forum version to use on my site's home page? The difference being that your original puts the map on your site, while this forum version puts it on our site. I would be willing to pay for something like that. I hope that makes sense. Thanks! |
Not sure what you mean? You want your map to show on our site?
|
I knew that was clear as mud... :)
Unless I am doing it wrong, your original version (Geo Visitors) sends the user to http://tools.digitalpoint.com/geovisitors where the map is displayed. This forum version puts the map on a page within our own forums. (www.mysite.com/forum/usermap.php) I would like to use the original program and have the link on my homepage (non-forum) send the viewer to a one of my site's pages (ex: www.mysite.com/usermap.php) instead of http://tools.digitalpoint.com/geovisitors. My site has many more pages outside of the forum but I believe this forum version only accounts for IP's on the forum. I assume that the reason the original version takes us to a DP page is to bring in more traffic, which is why I would understand paying for a version that puts the map on our own site. TY |
Geo Visitors is just a totally different thing... It's not available as a product, sorry...
|
I have vps server. But again receiving this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function geoip_record_by_name()...line 100 My host don't know how to fix it...what should i say them where is the exact problem? Thanks |
The addon requires the geoip PHP extensions.
|
Yes they have installed that. But still getting this error
|
They did not install it correctly then. If you look at your phpinfo(), is it listed there?
|

Hi,
Code:
root@rcns:~# dpkg -l |grep geo Code:
root@rcns:~# ls -hal /usr/local/share/GeoIP/GeoLiteCity.dat greets, Nik |
My host told me this:
Can you please ask if there is any specific way or trick for centos and/or cpanel? They also said that from here: http://imspot.org/info.php you can see that mod_geoip is loaded under the "Loaded Modules" section. |
You have an Apache module for it (you don't need that)... You want a PHP module for it.
http://pecl.php.net/package/geoip |
Ok, i see usermap page now just can't see the map.
Now this error shows under usermap: Warning: geoip_record_by_name() [function.geoip-record-by-name]: Required database not available at /opt/geoip/share/GeoIP/GeoIPCity.dat. in [path]/usermap.php on line 100 Can you explain me what to do now to fix it? |
My first guess would be that you don't have the required database at /opt/geoip/share/GeoIP/GeoIPCity.dat :)
|
It's working. Thanks dp
|
Link to map is lost in the Community drop-down with upgrade to 4.2.0
