OK, what am I missing here? I just installed vBShout lite 5.3.2 on my 3.8.6 board. I have vBShout enabled but it's not showing on my forum. I'm assuming I'm just missed something??
FYI, I just upgraded my board from 3.6.x to 3.8.6. I had vBShout 2.0 installed which I uninstalled before using 5.3.2. |

If not, ensure all usergroup permissions (Instance Management -> Edit Permissions) are set correctly. Fillip |

I'm using my admin account, and I have administrators set to have full authority over the shoutbox. ??? |
OK weird. I just installed a couple new styles and the shoutbox shows up fine in them, but the previously existing styles (including vbulletin silver and gray) don't work.

Instance Management -> Edit.
Either use manual placement or ensure $ad_location['ad_navbar_below'] exists in your navbar template. Fillip |
can i put this shoutbox into
a) vbadvanced cms? b) into a widget box in the forum? |
vBAdvanced CMS has a bug which will break the Online Users module when using vBShout on their pages. If this is acceptable there's a guide for how to configure that on their forums.
Widget box position is not supported due to the advanced editor controls. Fillip |
Is it possible to display status updates from "User Status & Moods v1 (vB3)" ? :D
|
Not currently, no.
Fillip |
Thanks anyway :)
|
How can I prune the command log?
|
It's not intended to be prunable, to do so you must TRUNCATE TABLE on the dbtech_vbshout_commandlog table (at least I think that's the correct table name, check in phpMyAdmin) :)

I have tried searching for this and after 12+ pages i decided to just ask, apologies if this has already been answered.
I am looking to change the colour of the text input area, from white to a colour of my choice, with a default text colour also....I found the option to change the actual shoutbox area in dbtech_vbshout.css but after trying all of the options in that file I still cannot figure out what to change to get the text input area changed. Thanks for the wonderfull shoutbox, I love the features :) |
I forget how the vB3 file looks, but isn't there something in the _vbshout_color.css file about the input area? :)
Fillip |
no, but i found it now, its in the main css in the stylevars, its the input fields part....but warning it will change all input areas. so be carefull what colour you choose,
|
Seems I have an error!

What's this file?
dbtech/vbshout/aop/shouts1.txt I've got lots of request from only one ip to that file |
That's one of the files vBShout uses to store when the last shout was made, to preserve resources.
Fillip |
Just a Question.
Will this mod work on vBulletin version 3.7.3. ? |

Hello, it just says "loading" for me as well. Is there any fix or known cause for that problem?

Please check Firefox' Error Console and post any JS errors.

Fillip |
First one to download it! I'll get back to you if I find any issues. :)

I have a vb board 3.8 and a old shout box vBShout 2.1 do I have to upload all these files again to install this new one or something easier,Thanks
|
If you have the old Inferno Shout then you can use this to install a fresh install yeah.
Fillip |
A conflict with DBTech's InfoPanels and vBShout v5.4.0 has been resolved, and the "vBShout v5.4.0 Upgrade Notes.txt" document has been updated along with the files.
For those of you who have already downloaded v5.4.0; Please re-download the zip file, re-upload the files, and re-read that .txt file. The template variable used to display the shoutbox in a custom location has been updated to resolve the conflict. Fillip |
I now get this error. I deleted the old xml files but that didn't help.
Code:
Warning: require([path]/dbtech/vbshout_pro/hooks/cache_templates.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/global.php(355) : eval()'d code on line 633 |
Updated zip, you can re-import the new XML file :)
Fillip |
Now I get this error when trying to update the instance:
Code:
invalid argument in foreach() in [path]/dbtech/vbshout/actions/admin/instance.php on line 372 |
Also prune seems to remove all the messages. Is there a way to remove just one?
And I tried to mention someone with the @____; method (I have user tagging set for @ AND ;) but it didn't do the link. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I appreciate this contribution as, when it works, it should greatly increase participation at my forums. |

v5.4.1
Fillip |
Due to an exploit discovered by one of DBTech's members we would like to announce the immediate availability of vBShout v5.4.2:
Sadly there's nothing further we can do. Due to the sheer number of features included in vBShout, allowing you to configure them all causes Suhosin to believe that vBShout is a malicious script. That being siad, we have included a notice for Suhosin users that, if followed, should allow the Instance Management to work as intended. Feedback on whether the tips in the notice worked would be welcome. Fillip |
After upgrading i'm getting "Internal Server Error" when trying to post
Any ideas? Thanks in advance UPDATE: I'm getting blank pages on showthread after upgrade so i'd to disable it |
Try removing all the .txt files from /dbtech/vbshout/aop and ensure the folder is set to CHMOD 0777.
Fillip |
Yes, it's CHMOD 777. After removing all txt files i'm getting the same blank pages with new vbshout enabled
Thanks Filip |
Thanks to your diligence in reporting vBShout issues, we've seen it fit to release v5.4.3.
It fixes the following issues:
