Just upgraded to 5.2.2 and the chatbox is a little odd now. There is the normal Active Users tab at its rightful place but at the very right corner, there is another tab for "Active Users" that goes off of the page and some text below it.

DragonByte Tech 05-21-2010 03:27 PM

That's called the Side block, you can disable it in vBulletin Options.

Fillip

Thanks Fillip ..worked like a charm .

Question ::

I want people to have 25 posts before they can shout in the shoutbox .Is that possible .. like based on posts permissions.

DragonByte Tech 05-22-2010 06:13 PM

You would need to change the permissions of your default Registered Users group to not be able to shout, and then create a new usergroup that CAN shout, and then use vBulletin's Promotions system to auto-promote users to this new usergroup upon reaching 25 posts :)

Hope that helps :)

frbmjb 05-25-2010 08:16 AM

hi
how can i add tis product only in one page on forum or add tab to connect to this shout box
tnx

DragonByte Tech 05-25-2010 11:15 AM

To add it to only one page you need to go to Instance Management, click Edit, then change the Automatic Deployment setting to Disabled and follow the other instructions on the screen :)

frbmjb 05-25-2010 04:39 PM

i change automatic deployment settig to disable . but how can i add script in " Shoutbox Deployment " for one page . please example
tnx

DragonByte Tech 05-25-2010 04:42 PM

Type only the script name, for instance
index
to have it on forum home, or
vbcms
to have it on the front page.

Then type in the template name, again
FORUMHOME
to have it on forum home, or
vbcms_page
to have it on the front page.

Then add the variable as instructed to the template you put in there, and it's done :)

DragonByte Tech 05-25-2010 05:14 PM

Instance Management -> Edit:

Auto-Display Shoutbox: Disabled.
Shoutbox Deployment: index
Manually Display Shoutbox: FORUMHOME

Edit template FORUMHOME and place on desired location:
{vb:raw vbshout}

To get it to display only on Forum Home page and in your custom location.

frbmjb 05-25-2010 05:32 PM

HI
Thanks was just
My mistake was to type lowercase letters " forumhome" In Manually Display Shoutbox And Typing Caps letters " FORUMHOME "Was Just .
very very tanks

For the sounds to work you say it requires a quicktime plugin, I assume you mean on the client side? Still can't seem to get it working

Thats right, requires quicktime plugin. Does it work for any of your users? If not, can you recheck your settings and make sure you have sounds turned on in the ACP?

Cheers ^.^

vBShout v5.2.3 has been released, which fixes a potential problem with shout notifications, and also adds a new feature: Blog Integration!
The Shoutbox will now post notifications when a new public blog is written, and when a new public blog comment is written.

We hope you enjoy this small feature update :)

Installed and working fine, is there any way of reducing the width of the shoutbox and shout input area?

Oh, and the Shoutbox option in the UserCP settings does nothing??? Using v4.02.

You can edit the templates or CSS yourself, but this is not something we support, so you'll be on your own ;)
Pro version allows you and your members to choose the shout area location themselves, above/below shoutbox means the "strip" :)

Yeah, the subitems had to be removed for v5 because of instances; if we find anything else to put there we'll be sure to add it in.

STORMS 06-03-2010 12:30 PM

How can I shrink the SB so that the 'active users' box isn't cut off?

Other than that, I have no issues. This SB is the best that I have found so far. :)

DragonByte Tech 06-03-2010 12:42 PM

You'll need to edit the templates and/or the CSS, look in dbtech_vbshout.css and see if you find anything apparent in there :)

STORMS 06-03-2010 01:55 PM

I also have a request...

Would it be hard to make it so that whoever prunes the SB, for their name to be displayed?

Example: [Today 08:31 AM] SYSTEM: The Shoutbox has just been pruned by USERNAME!

samuelflo 06-03-2010 02:05 PM

Awesome Mod. Amazing coder! Thanks!

Example: [Today 08:31 AM] SYSTEM: The Shoutbox has just been pruned by USERNAME!

This requires file edits, we originally opted out of using the username in system messages in order to avoid staff drama.
You can still see who did it in the AdminCP's command log, though.

If you'd like to suggest a change to this, please post it as a suggestion in Project Tools at our website: http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/project.php?projectid=1
Thanks :)

DragonByte Tech 06-03-2010 05:31 PM

I just updated the zip with fixes for two small issues:
1. Styles using the headinclude_bottom template would not see those customisations on vBShout pages like the Archive.
2. Forums who use the Shoutbox on ALL pages would no longer be able to manage attachments.

If any of those issues affect you, please re-download the zip, re-upload all files and re-import the XML file.

OMG, me & CSS, there's a recipe for disaster :p.

Thanks for your reply I'll have a crack at it.

Hi,

yesterday I installed the shoutbox, and I'm only able to display it at 'After Navbar'. It disappears on 'above footer' and I'm not able to display it by adding {$vbshout} to a template.

I'm using vb 3.7.4 (I know not the newest Version, but it workes well, and I hoped the addon would tell me if it is not compatible). So I created a new php (depending on this forum) with its own template to keep things simple and added the template-name into 'Templates'.

Same behavior, only displaying on 'after Navbar'.
Is the shoutbox not compatible with 3.7.4 or do I make something completely wrong?

Sorry, if my English isn't the best, I'm from Germany

Regards
Herbert

Here the whole template:
HTML Code:

$stylevar[htmldoctype]
<html dir="$stylevar[textdirection]" lang="$stylevar[languagecode]">
<head>
<title>$vboptions[bbtitle]</title>
$headinclude
</head>
<body>
$header

$navbar
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tr>
    <td class="tcat">WoodCNC Chatecke</td>
</tr>
<tr>
    <td class="alt1">
{$vbshout}
</td>
</tr>
</table>

$footer
</body>
</html>

To activate manual display, you need to set auto deployment to Disabled and add the script name of your custom php file into the relevant setting.

It's possible that 3.7 is lacking the template hook for Above Footer, I couldn't say.

jonowoodcnc 06-04-2010 01:48 PM

Thanks for the quick reply !

Now a second question. After adding an additional room it appears right from Active Users and unhandeled Reports.

something like that:
shoutbox | Active Users | Unhandled Reports | additional room

wouldn't it be better to group the rooms like that:
shoutbox | additional room |....| Active Users | Unhandled Reports |

DragonByte Tech 06-04-2010 01:51 PM

Tab reordering is a Pro feature :) I'm not sure if those two tabs can be reordered though, but chatrooms can be :)

jonowoodcnc 06-04-2010 02:20 PM

Thanks again!

The first Users I granted access and me say awesome chat!

Thanks for that !

jonowoodcnc 06-04-2010 06:47 PM

No, currently it's not possible to have different heights for different shoutbox instances.

jonowoodcnc 06-04-2010 07:43 PM

Next Issue,

I saw at who is online, that search engines can follow to the Reporting Shout page without getting an error. Guests have NO rights at all in my shoutbox.
I'll send you a link via PM.

Herbert

DragonByte Tech 06-04-2010 08:36 PM

Will fix for the next version, thanks for reporting :)

jonowoodcnc 06-04-2010 08:45 PM

Different sizes would be a nice feature too.
Then you can provide sites mainly for chatting and keep an eye on the chat while browsing the rest of the Forum.
