when will it be released?

I'm in the middle of coding it now, there's no set date yet for when it will be done.

I got this installed on 4.0.5 but it won't install the language xml since it was made on 4.0.2
And under settings I can see my options but there is no description at all.

it will install the language it you check the box to ignore the language version

pportuese 08-11-2010 05:52 PM

Will that fill all the empty spots up with text?
Also I used my FTP program to move the files over, then I installed everything else with the xml file. It wasn't working so I uninstalled it. Do I have to move those files over again from the FTP or did it only remove the xml file?

Yes, the language file is the reason why you couldn't see any text on the settings.

Uninstalling only removes the templates/product. The tables and files remain, so if you just reinstall the product xml it should work fine.

pportuese 08-11-2010 06:01 PM

Ok thanks!

I am getting this error trying to import the language module...

The file you attempted to import only contains phrases and none of the settings required. You will be unable to make a new language with this file.

You trying in the Manage Products area or Language area? It needs to be done through the Language area. Here in the documentation.

Can someone briefly explain how to update this to the new version please?

It's basically the same as installing, except you don't need to reconfigure most times.
Just upload the files and import the product file in the Manage Products area and import the Language file in the Language area. Don't reimport the vehicle make/model file.

There is nothing in there right now to do it. I'll add it as a request on my site and see what I can do though.

Brilliant, would make it more visible to the users thus used more.

I tried to upload some pics and this is what I got. I tried 4 pics and 1 pdf file.

Ok got some errors cut down, but I still get this now. I have no idea what this means or how to fix it.

There was no /1/ folder so I added that. Which didn't help. I also can't find this function.move-uploaded-file anywhere. And I'm unsure of why it says permission denied.

Usually it's a permission issue with the way the server is setup.
Try changing the images/garage/attach folder and any folders underneath it to permission of 777. That will usually fix it.

I changed both folders to 777 and still got this error.

pportuese 08-18-2010 06:31 PM

Odd. I would change it then go back to it and it would change to 755. It's working now for some reason.

pportuese 08-18-2010 06:35 PM

I also took a pdf file and converted it to jpg. I tired to upload it and got this error.

Hmm, how large is the jpg? It shouldn't hit your max, which seems to be 32M

pportuese 08-18-2010 07:14 PM

315k that's it.

Can you send it to me? I'll set my php to that limit and see if I can replicate the problem. I'll pm you my email.

pportuese 08-18-2010 08:03 PM

ok i will for sure. thanks
Also I can access the garage and add cars. Regular members can see cars but not add them. How do I fix this?

Did you enable the button for all and not just admin?
ACP->Settings->Options->Garage General Settings->Garage Menu Button

If that's set to Enabled then it depends on the permissions you used.

ACP->Settings->Options->Garage General Settings->Usergroup Permissions
If you used Basic permissions it should set the registered users group by default to be able to post vehicles.
The groups are set on the tab
ACP->Settings->Options->Garage Basic Permissions Settings

If you used Advanced then it's controlled on the left side pane
ACP->VB Pro Garage->Usergroup Permissions

pportuese 08-18-2010 08:21 PM

I got it figured out thanks. I had to add the numbers 1,2,3, etc for the usergroups.

Good to hear. I'm not sure what I'll be able to do with the image upload error. I was able to replicate it but I don't know how much more I can trim it down to not generate the error.

The problem is that GD is a big memory hog when resizing images and 32M isn't that much anymore. Maybe you can ask your host if they can raise it up to 64M or ask if you are allowed to temporarily set it through scripts. Otherwise you'll have to set the garage to not resize and just set a max size for images.

I was able to upload the image with my memory limit set as low as 48M.

Hi, i installed this and its great so far. Just 1 question. It does not match my theme, the background of the text boxes are white, and my site is black background. Is there a way to edit this?

Thanks!

It does this with a few styles. You can manually set the box colors by doing the following
ACP->Styles & Templates->Style Manager
On the style having the problem, select Edit Templates on the dropdown box
Scroll down to VB Pro Garage Templates
Expand it and double click the garage_css template

About 7/8th of the way down find .alt1 and .alt2
Change the background from
background: {vb:raw alt1_background};
to something like
background: #000;

You also want the alt2 background to be slightly off from that if you want to have the alternate rows colors to be different.

Having a problem with install...

When uploading images I receive the following errors:

Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in [path]/includes/garage_func_var.php on line 1728

Warning: move_uploaded_file(images/garage/attach/1/garage_vehicle-6-12827686981_full.jpg) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/includes/garage_func_var.php on line 1805

Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move '/tmp/php35SWSF' to 'images/garage/attach/1/garage_vehicle-6-12827686981_full.jpg' in [path]/includes/garage_func_var.php on line 1805

I have CHMOD'd the attach folder to 777... still I get the same error.

Php Safe mode is OFF

safe_mode Off Off
safe_mode_exec_dir no value no value
safe_mode_gid Off Off
safe_mode_include_dir no value no value

I really like this, I have installed it to a T from the instructions, seems to be functional minus the image uploading. I have messaged you on your site I needed information on purchasing the license once I get it up and going. Thanks a LOT and GREAT WORK ON THIS.

If you tried to upload an image before you set the folder to 777 it might of created the user folder. Check the attach folder and if there are any subfolders already there, they need to be at 777 as well.

got it working.... it was linking to the attach directory in the default style not my modified one for some reason...

I have a question: Is there an option to remove the mileage field in the garage postings.

Good to hear :)

You can remove any of the fields from the templates except for the required fields.
To remove fields from the vehicle the templates to edit are
garage_vehicle_edit
garage_vehicle_view

I hope to have adding and removing fields controlled through the ACP in the next version.

if I go ahead and make these changes,

when the new version comes out will doing this cause any issues during the upgrade?

You just need to keep track of what you changed. When you install the next version you will need to revert the templates to get the newest version of it, then redo the changes.
