I really really like this addon/mod, but also have heard horror stories about it, and hackers getting into like 10 vBulletin installations before... I noticed the 5.0.5 version patched another security hole... I'm using this addon/mod now.. but I guess my main concern is, are all the security holes fixed/patched? LOL! I don't want to launch site, and then get hacked over n over lol. :P

Fixes the Smilies Issue. Edited php code which wasnt written correctly.

30 Members have tested our edited version so far, not a problem yet, and no smilies ;)

* to fix: redirect url on rules acceptance.

I've tried over and over, but the same issue stands: clicking on the Manage Forum Rules link leads to the Smilies page, even with all other mods disabled. It's not an issue of whether or not members can see the rules, it's an issue of whether admins can actually change those rules in the AdminCP. Something is clearly being overlooked for this issue to still stand.

Ensure that rule sets are applied to forums properly.

Try going to forum manager and just saving display order to update caches.

Look like this mod doesn't work in vb 4.1.7. I insall this mod and set forum rules, but when I create thread in box which has forum fules, it appear blank page and when I refresh, this page continue creat a new thread without accept the forum rules.

nrasheed 10-23-2011 07:08 PM

Hi,

I have installed it on 4.1.7. every thing seems to fine but I can not add new rules. the only option I have is to edit 'GENERAL RULES' that is created by default.

Am I missing anything ?

Any help will be appreciated.

Awesome...
Thanks for the Mod.

P.S: Can u also work on something like Advance Permissions....for each uergroup???

PBRiot 11-04-2011 04:13 PM

<a href="http://pbriot.com/sendmessage.php" target="_blank">http://pbriot.com/sendmessage.php</a>

If you are unregistered and click on Contact Us, it'll first make you accept the rules. No problem. You accept them, then go to the contact us page.

Fill out the contact us, and it'll say "Sent!"

Then it'll redirect you to the rules. Accept the rules, and you're back at the contact us page....

Can I change where it sends you after you send in a Contact Us message?

nrasheed 11-05-2011 03:41 PM

I only see General Rules when I go to Manage Rules. How can I add more Rule Categories/type.

Thanks,

I am using 4.1.4. It just keeps bringing the smiley page up no matter what I do.

Would TMS/VSa's other modifications be interfering?

I have his Moderater Stats installed and it works fine though.

CharlieDelta 11-10-2011 08:36 PM

I would suspect it is another mod causing the issue. I don't have the Moderater Stats mod.

I recommend disabling all other mods and the plugins as well. I have found in the past that just disabling the mods was not enough I had to also make the plugins inactive.

I just checked your site and it takes me where it is supposed to. No blank page for me I can read your rules just fine.

The Rocketeer 11-18-2011 08:57 AM

Hi, our site was recently hacked, some kind of a malicious code automation / root kit type of script planted on the server that inserts some codes into my files causing the issues. Its base64 encoded and starts with "<?php eval(gzuncompress(base64_decode('eF5Tcffxd3L0CY" followed by a combination of a lot of random numbers. - https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...=1#post2234549

this is a good mod and we like it very much but I have heard previously about some security issues with it. Could you double check if this mod is still secure and working 100% with 4.1.8?

Thanks

AusPhotography 11-18-2011 09:01 AM

The fundamental flaws in previous versions were fixed and nothing in vB4.1.8 has effect on this mod.
Several coders have reviewed the code, I looked at every injection possibility having been burnt with the previous problems.
We will be upgrading to 4.1.8 in about a week, I've got it in test without issues.

Keldaria 12-04-2011 04:23 AM

Note, I love this mod, its brilliant. However I did run into 1 unexpected problem that after abit of investigation was easy to fix but had me looking all over for a permission setting that didn't exist and probably should.

I found that only usergroup 6 (Default Admin) could manage the forum rules, and while that's normally fine for 99.99% of the forums that exist, my case I needed to setup a separate usergroup for myself for various reason because it just works better than having me, the primary site admin, mixed in with the other 3 admins. However when I went to configure the rules it threw me threw a hoops as the mod appeared broken when I'd click on the manage rules portion from the admin menu and had it redirect me to smiles info instead.

For anyone interest in the fix, I simply opened the plugin VSA_Rules_RA and modified all the lines that called out usergroup, 6 and added a comma and the number of my usergroup after it.

If this mod is still being updated I would recommend that they include a setting for adding or changing the admin usergroup =)

Valter 12-04-2011 11:54 AM

To fix it easier set 6 (Admins) as your secondary usergroup.

Successfulsteps 12-04-2011 05:16 PM

I installed this on my forum and am having either a problem or misunderstanding:

I have 4 subforums which have their own unique set of rules, and I put them all in along with our forum rules. Well the only force rules are the Forum Rules. Do the others in the subforums I set them for not come up and require them to be read in their perspective subforums?

bada_bing 01-06-2012 05:48 AM

I have installed this great mod but the problem is that when I created the forum rules the default text color is green and my skin is black so its hard or impossible to read, How can I change the text color to something like white?

Please Help

Valter 01-06-2012 07:49 AM

MegaManSec 01-07-2012 05:20 AM

That option is only to change the color of the "Forum Rules" Link Only not the actually rules text which is what I need to change

Valter 01-10-2012 09:31 PM

You can use forum BB codes to change the color of rules text.

By default it uses colors defined in your current style.

Bulbucan 01-19-2012 12:25 PM

When i try to enter "Manage Rules" it redirect me to FAQ - SMILES page. What to do ? same with Apply to Forums and Reset Acceptance Status For All Members

Valter 01-19-2012 02:00 PM

You should be a member of usergroup 6 (either primary or secondary membership) to access these pages.

can't i change that somehow, or you could add an option in this plugin ?

Valter 01-20-2012 07:56 AM

Just set your secondary membership to 6.

It will not affect your primary membership permissions and settings.

The smiley page comes up when an unspecified error occurs, so this is indicating that you have something wrong somewhere. Try reinstalling, try disabling other mods to see if one is interfering.
