I assume that this likely means the end of his popular Links and Downloads Manager. It has always been my impression that LDM was a work of art that Andrew devoted a substantial amount of time/years to. He was quite dedicated to the creation and development of LDM.

wow. I wanted to suggest in post as he's NEVER missing. I'm really sorry to hear this. My mother passed last June. Death is so terrible.

This was a sad reminder of where we are all are going.

I am new to LDM and was just about to install. LDM looks to me like and excellent project with a devoted developer, always fast in responding.

I hope it is not out of place to ask the admins here to edit the "About Developer" page and project page and other AndrewD personal pages to reflect the grim reality, and to avoid any missunderstandings about the situation.

I was hoping that this illness was gone since Andrew came back and was giving us his comments and support as usual. Such a strong man and friend who always improved this nice mod.

The best support you will ever had in a free mod was all that Andrew did for us in the past years, thanks to him for letting us have a glance of his person. r.i.p.

This really saddens me. I had several chances to talk to Andrew during the years and he was a delightful and wonderful person. His wonderful attitude will be very much missed.

I really hope someone picks up on this project. My own knowledge level is way too low so I'd surely do more harm than good.

I can see that in the PT (Project Tools) group, which was released a few weeks ago, now 10+ new developers joined. Hopefully someone can initiate something like that with the LDM too, so that Andrews project can continue and not just fade away.

Without seeming insensitive, the Links/Downloads Mod is one we hope to keep on using. Hopefully it will have some form of future? Does anyone know the Mod well enough to take it on in Andrew's name?

I would really need this one, you can define in the admin panel how featured links should look like (template), but i cat find a solution where to set the featured option on single links.

And, can someone tell me how to display LDM with my standard navigation on the left side ?
I am new to vBulletin, so i didnt find a solution for a left side menue where i can link directly to LDM.

The 3.8 version of LDM is marked as reusable code. This means that any coder can take up this project and prevent LDM going to waste. It would be a shame that after all the years of work and dedication Andrew has put into it, it could no longer be used.

It remains to be seen how long this version of LDM keeps working, after new vbulletin versions are released.

Seems to be working but styles are getting more tricky, unfortunately it's time to move into another download manager. :(

DownloadsII just got competition with vBDownloads v1.0.0 (Lite).

I talked to the makers of vBDownloads and they are going to work on an importer for L&D. If this can be provided, it would take a lot of stress off my shoulders.

Currently vbdownloads doesn't have a more than a fraction of the functions. It would be great if they would add the most important functions, but since LDM is a massive product, I think it will take a long time before there is any replacement.

Yes, however, functions don't mean much if LDM no longer works because it's no longer compatible with vBulletin. No one has stepped up to take over this project, unfortunately, so for those of us who run a business and earn income off our downloads, functionality is second choice.

I do not refer to any trivial functionality. You would be right in that regard.

LDM works well for now, but this may change for future releases of vbulletin. Until there are other solutions that offer most of the vital functionality that LDM has, I'm not moving my site to any vb version that doesnt support LDM.
