Hi, I've tested the functionality from the 'guest' side of things and everything looks great....

However, the existing member sign in with facebook doesnt seem to be working. it asks you to make a nickname, and i click the 'existing user' link.... sign in to the board and then I'm logged in. however there doesnt appear to be any integration at all. I dont get asked about stories when making a new thread / reply.

Is it likely I have done something wrong, or is anyone else havingm this issue?

itsheinz 02-28-2009 03:27 PM

How about friendster connect as well, can you make it please.

gibby540 02-28-2009 03:42 PM

Can a person upgrade directly from 2.0.2 to 2.0.4? Or do I have to upgrade to 2.0.3 first? Thanks!

mykkal 02-28-2009 03:59 PM

I upgraded... It seems like this product has a lot of potential that hasn't been relized. It also has some short comings. Here's my laundry list of what i'd like to see.

1. Option to logout of facebook connect and associate the facebook connect login with a current vbulletin login.

2. There are lots of data that facebook can pass. I'd like to see an option to map this data.

3. Proxied email addresses can be requested from yahoo. I'd like to see this included in the dafult product.

4. Would like to be able to pull a person's facebook ID and map it to that.

5. Options to post to group threads would be nice.

6. Pull profile images and images from the image gallery into vbulletin and import/export images from vbulletin to facebook.

giorgioarmani 02-28-2009 04:24 PM

How do I upggrade from 2.0.1?

I think it has this already, but i cant get it to work. i am pretty sure it is supposed to be able to allow an existing user with a facebook login to associate accounts.

I have more then one facebook account. There's no way to change what account the vb member is using. That could be problematic in the future. People may delete accounts on facbeook or start new ones they want to use for a variety of reasons.

smnet 03-01-2009 11:09 AM

ok. I think this is going to be a recurring request. Until this is sorted I will have to uninstall the application.

Currently, there is no way to associate EXISTING MEMBERS with a facebook account - according to the mod description on .org it seems as though it should be possible - but it's not.

Steps to reproduce:-
1. Logout
2. Sign in with facebook connect
3. Dont choose a nickname, instead click on the existing user
4. Login to your board
5. We can now assume the vb account is facebook connected - NO ITS NOT

Maybe this is only a bug / problem on my board.

Can anyone confirm or deny the above to be true for them?

@Uninstalled until resolved

I associated my account with the facebook using the features already in facebook connect. When you first used Facebook Connect you get an option to associate it with your current account.

It's worked for three of my members who used it, and new members get new accounts.

This isn't a "bug" other than it appears you created a new account rather than associating it with your current account when you first used it.

I tried it on a test server and it works good for me. I connected with facebook and selected existing username.

Upon posting a message for the first time, its asks if this is to be published onto facebook etc, and it works.

Also, upon getting a private message or reply to threads, they show up in my facebook notifications.

It will be going live next week so I will report back, but so far it all looks good. The only thing I see is missing is that users could do with some options to turn on/off the notifications.

m0nde 03-01-2009 03:40 PM

When this app is turned on, I get the following error on every forum page:

PHP Code:

Parse errorsyntax errorunexpected '{' in /home4/bostonlo/public_html/forums/includes/functions.php(5721) : eval()'d code on line 13

When I click on News Feed Templates in the FB Connect Options in my AdminCP, i get this error:

PHP Code:

Parse errorsyntax errorunexpected T_STRINGexpecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home4/bostonlo/public_html/forums/includes/facebook/facebook.php on line 38

can someone please help me fix this.

The plugin does need a lot of work, proxied email addresses and other data fields could be added. However facebook connect does associate your member account with a user account. The issue, I think, is that Facebook connect doesn't give you an option to store your details in the admin CP. It also doesn't give you the option to associate your vBulletin login with a different facebook account.

Ok... this is not the case for me. I simply cannot associate my existing account with facebook. On the surface, things seem to go through ok, but when i post messages, etc there is no integration.

Maybe the mod developer can offer some insight into where it might be going wrong. Only major mod I'm running is vbseo.

mykkal 03-01-2009 04:57 PM

^^^ I run vBSEO and it works fine. No conflicts there.

Is your applicaiton registered right on facebook?

Wheemer 03-01-2009 05:38 PM

I am getting this error:

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function print_datamap_row() in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\admincp\fbconnect_datamap.php on line 97

when I try to change the data mapping.

frogster 03-01-2009 11:14 PM

I upgraded today and it seems my submit and cancel button on the FB login form have disappeared. Not sure what happened. Can someone guide me as to what I have to do to get these buttons back.

Thanks in advance.

Wakey 03-01-2009 11:22 PM

Since the upgrade all the mails to the Facebook proxy mails have been bouncing back. Any idea why?

smnet 03-01-2009 11:40 PM

yes the application is installed perfectly on the facebook end. The integration is working fine, except for when it comes to existing users.

Frogster: I am seeing the same on my end.... if you look very closely you will notice that they are still there, however the iframe doesnt appear to be big enough to house all the content.

Would anyone have any idea how to fix this iframe problem

mykkal 03-01-2009 11:45 PM

I've only recently installed facebook connect on MyModelTalk. I only see the Facebook connect login in vBulletin while viewing the forum as a guest. When i'm logged in it goes away. Are you two saying the login should NORMALLY show all the time? So that people can change what login they are associated with?

No that is not what I am saying. When I try to log on and click the FB connect button, enter my username & password, I DO NOT see the submit button. I have to just hit enter. It used to be there.

Same problem

m0nde 03-02-2009 11:20 AM

I noticed that even though my hosting account's cpanel reported that I was using PHP5, I was, in fact, using PHP4. My .htaccess file was forcing PHP4.

Once I remedied this, the errors, below, were fixed.

So the iframe is too small? Where can we correct dimensions of it?

smnet 03-02-2009 01:42 PM

I would suggest we await the developers feedback - there are a few issues here to reply to and developers quickly lose the enthusiasm when overwhelmed.

Since this is the best mod since sliced bread that would be awful.

It's already been days, his plugin has been disabled, rewritten by a moderator, and reinstated. So we're beyond waiting.

Upgraded to the new version and now the button doesn't work any ideas?

Sorry if this has been addressed!

I think facebook had a push to their platform and they made some changes... nothing I can do. But if the emails bounce it means that users set their permissions to not receive them.

I'm also getting the "dead button" effect. There is no popup, no action at all when I click the Connect with Facebook button. Any suggestions?

Hey Sllik, I sent you a PM to try and pin down an issue i'm having. Will gladly make a donation to get this issue resolved. :)

Maybe some moderator can confirm? To my knowledge NO moderator has ever rewritten any hack on vb.org...

smnet 03-02-2009 06:20 PM

maybe it's been checked over by a moderator to ensure compliance with some rule set by .org or facebook..... who knows.

I got this to work...must have been a caching issue with my server. Anyway, how would I go about placing the button (when clicked functions as normal) on a portion of my site outside of VB? i.e. I have a portal site and want this button on the home page. Any way to do this?

ocdjoey 03-02-2009 08:45 PM

Awesome hack, although i have one little problem with it. when a user registers with us through facebook connect, their e-mail address comes up wrong e.g (this is our newest members e-mail)

That is correct actually. It is called a proxied address. Any mail you send will be converted to text and sent to the member via facebook.

You have to write something to ask them for their email address.

member007 03-03-2009 07:48 AM

I updated from 2.0.3 to 2.0.4 vbulletin version 3.81 and couldn't see the facebook login button at the bottom.

jdmexperts 03-03-2009 02:12 PM

Dose this line that I use look right to you???

<form action="newthread.php?do=postthread&f=$forumid " method="post" name="vbform"<if condition="!is_browser('webtv')"> onsubmit="return fb_prepare_submit(this, this.subject.value)"</if>>

this part looks like it's not right

name="vbform"<if condition="!is_browser('webtv')"> onsubmit="return fb_prepare_submit

the onsubmit part is outside the closing braket and dosent look rignt in dreamweaver
