Do you know what it is?

Weird as far as I know there is nothing in there that does this, unless as you say it is vbSEO.
Any chance you can PM me a screen capture of your vbSEO settings and I'll then compare to see if i have any settings turned on that you don't?

The Geek 02-11-2009 07:34 AM

Are you sure about that? I just looked at them all and not sure how they would contribute. AME doesn't even get fired up as such in Pm's. I just tested out the first one and there doesn't appear to be any conflict and like I said, the others don't really looks like they could interfere. Do you have access to your error log? If so, reproduce the behaviour and look at your error log and that will give the reason why its happening.

Looks like its a Google Analytics function. I'll need to look into it a bit more.

Ok tek, I found it... looks like it is a vBSEO setting to support tracking all outbound links from your forum using Google Analytics.

in your vbseo cp it is the:

Add Google Analytics "Tracking External Link Clicks" Code?

setting. For performance reasons, I would suggest turning this to no unless you need to track outbound links. If you need to have it on, then you will need to disable AME as the two are fighting over the same URL and AME is getting her ass kicked :)

tekguru 02-11-2009 04:05 PM

Still no go unfortunately, I turned off that option, no difference and then turned off vbSEO completely and I still got:

Sigh..... will have to turn AME back off again. Do you still need the Admin acces to do further tests?

Tek, I suspect this is a different issue. Ill look into it on your site tomorrow. One strange thing though was that none of my posts would appear. Can you make sure that if I post, they... well... post? :)

Not sure if you have some other mod that prevents people with x amount of posts not showing.

ArnyVee 02-11-2009 10:27 PM

Geek, please keep up the research. I haven't found a solution and this is a pretty big part of my member's interaction.

Go Geek Go!

Cheers. The posts did appear as I saw them and the team saw them too. No Mod to prevent posting in place at all. Blinking weird this one!

Anyway let me know what you find out. AME is still disabled so if you pop on to test you'll need to re-enable it.

lazyseller 02-13-2009 03:19 AM

i disabled all my products and than enabled them again and for some reason now my links are embeded.

I dont know what happen and dont care. Its working great so far!

might be some of the products use the same plugin hook location and have the same execution order. i was getting some conflicts but after talking with david tried changing the execution order of the plugins and got everything to work. im going to try and reinstall this now and see if i can get it to work with everything else now. i also uninstalled a couple other mods i had and werent using.

ArnyVee 02-13-2009 03:44 AM

Which were the mods with the same plugin hook locations?

I need this mod working or my members are gonna want my head on a platter soon! Sheesh.

Lone Gunman 02-13-2009 06:17 AM

i got to do more testing on my test board. if i disable several of my other mods, this works no prob. with them and this then i get white pages. take this back off and then some of my other mods start conflicting again.

im sure my probs are unrelated to yours arnyvee. my server guy told me that the server is in need of some upgrading which may or may not be related to any of my problems.

disable your other mods one by one and see if this starts working for you. im just lost on where and why it conflicts and seems to react differently on different boards. i know it shares a global_start hook location with several other mods i have and also a template_groups hook location with a couple. it may not just be a single conflict but only when several other conflicting mods are installed with it.

im gonna keep reading this thread and hopefully you guys can teach me somethin cause i know very little about this stuff.

Lone Gunman 02-13-2009 05:47 PM

*update* i dont beleive my problems are directly related to this mod as im not getting any conflicts on my test board and everything works

Gladhatter 02-13-2009 06:04 PM

Some one hit on another valid issue. If you are running 3.81 make sure your server has the latest PHP 5 if possible installed and lastest SQL as well and an Appache Server that also is currrent. Many can move you easily and free if not.

Lone Gunman 02-14-2009 03:41 AM

got it working! i uninstalled all the other mods, started with this, then reinstalled the rest and so far everything works without conflict.

fenris 02-15-2009 11:06 AM

if I try to install - 45 minutes nothing happened. I must interrupt the installation every time from the mod.
when I try the forum during the installation menu, I get an error 500. After I've canceled the installation, must I restart sql server. otherwise the forum can no longer call.
in my forum are 30,000 members and 1.2 million threads. this is too much for this mod?
if I cancel the installation, the database can do harm ?

best regards

frank

The Geek 02-15-2009 11:29 AM

Sounds like you are timing out on adding the flag to the post table. Once thats done, there really isnt a performance hit for the system.

I would suggest installing at a slow time when you can close your board.

HTHs

fenris 02-15-2009 11:52 AM

Hy,

I try the installation today at 5 clock morning.
i have closed the board, but it will the same effect. i wait 30 minutes but nothing happens - after the 30 minutes i cancelled the installation with the browswer"stop" button. After the break, i must restart the mysql server again.
can i anything do, thats the installation works ? how long does it take to install the normally

best regards

frank

Gladhatter 02-15-2009 01:31 PM

Frank have you considered archiving some old threads and/or pruning non active members? Do you have all the latest PHP and SQL for your server? Seems you are on a dedictated server and you have the power to do what you wish.

fenris 02-15-2009 04:36 PM

Hy,

i have the a dedicated servers from the hoster gator ( the bigegst one ). the php and the sql are the latest. i have round about 32000 members - i dont now, how many members are active - i think, i have 10000 - 150000 active members on board.
must i delete the inactive members ?

best regards

Frank

My best guess is you do not have to do anything you do not wish but you may wish to consider a few things. One is that regardless of what the people whom code up programs say, there are limitations to them like anything else has limitations. Huge Data bases simply become less stable in my experience. Now saying that I do not have a lot of experience here. Still if you can segergate parts of the community off it may be better for all. You can have a coder set you up a seperate database that holds archived threads and also inactive members and not delete any of them but simply put them in a new catagory.

Have you ran your data base tools as well to clean up glitches and such or find errors in the data base query section of your forum?

The reason my coder has been AWOL for such a time is that he and a team are working to correct a 2 Gig Data base that is corrupted and you may well have just minor glitches in yours that caught now could save you worlds of trouble later on.

Brood 02-17-2009 05:03 AM

i seem to have run into a problem with this and editing usergroups. every time i edit a usergroup, a new one is created instead of old one being saved. i have to remove bitfield_automediaembed.xml to get usergroups to save properly.

using ame 2.5.0 (updated to 2.5.4 same problem) and vb 3.8.1

Teresa 02-17-2009 06:13 AM

I just upgraded to 3.8.1. Then added this addon. Then installed the latest vb-Blog 2.0.1 Patch Level 1.

In blog post this happened:

Major trouble: Invalid SQL. UPDATE vb3_blog_text set ame_flag=0 Where ....
Unknown column 'ame_flag' ...
error 1054.

Then the forum really started acting up.

Had to de-activate AME and forum went back to normal.

demoniavbh 02-17-2009 10:01 AM

This zip doesn't have all the files in amechache, there's only the index....

joh 02-18-2009 12:19 AM

I was just chaning the settings in the user groups and when I hit save I get this error,

There is nothing meant to be in there other than index.html as it's a folder AME uses for storing cached files for later use!:D

Whoops lets see. Would you care to post a few items here for some real help.
  1. the link or a link to a utube that is not working for you.
  2. your version of vbulliten.
  3. the supposed problem you have with specificity. ie symptoms and not "its not working"
Thanks

3.8
it just posts a link to the youtube video and nothing else

i just uninstalled it and reinstalled and that didn't help :(

Gladhatter 02-18-2009 02:49 PM

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaeUoSEtxj0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaeUoSEtxj0</a>works fine in ie7 and 3.81

I would put you up a screen shot but deleted it accidentally first. It was some story about the lady with 14 kids and sounded as if it was Ellen Degeneress interviewing here.

testbot 02-18-2009 02:55 PM

shoot... what am i missing here then?

do you know why it would just post a link instead of embedding it?

thanks again for your reply.

testbot 02-18-2009 02:56 PM

OMG! I was just preiving it and in the preview it was a link but when i submitted it worked fine!

i feel so silly right now

Gladhatter 02-18-2009 03:02 PM

only shows in preview in firefox and maybe others but not ie

testbot 02-18-2009 03:08 PM

i just totally felt like an major end user just now hah

anyway, thanks! :)

Gladhatter 02-18-2009 03:12 PM

Well not sure of the need to feel any way at all but happy it is working.

c.c. 02-18-2009 10:59 PM

My videos work at first but eventually they saw "Embedding has been disabled"? Anyone else getting this?

Same here. The videos that were working earlier now saw something like "Embedding has been disabled"? It's strange.
