I seem to get an error;
Quote:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare construct_depth_mark() (previously declared in /home/removed/public_html/forum/awards.php:98) in /home/removed/public_html/forum/includes/adminfunctions.php on line 1832
I have no idea why I'm getting this error either.

Xanlamin, is there any update for vb4 version?

jcline 12-02-2009 02:26 PM

How can I get it to put the award name being requested into the subject line of the award request? I was able to get the award_id into it, but for some reason can't convert that to the award_name...
I have multiple people that give out awards depending on the award, and the subjects are all "Award Request for username" which just lets them know who the award is for, not the award in question. That means everyone has to check every request instead of just dealing with the awards they manage. :(

Also for version 4 (or even 3.8 ;) ) it would be great if you could just approve or deny the award request from the thread (if you have permission to give out awards, maybe have it tied to usergroups) instead of having to go in and manage awards every time which requires copy and pastes etc.

Another thing we have on our list.

This version installs flawless on vB 3.8.0 thru 3.8.4 PL1, if you are having issues you may need to look at your install of vB itself.

Installed this mod on http://www.75thclan.com which is running 3.8.4 PL1 and there was no issues.

There is no navbar install, you will have to manually add one.

you can ignore the maintenance error it has no bearing on performance or function.

How to marquee the awards images (not icons) in the awards showcase in postbit ?

Xanlamin 12-03-2009 12:22 PM

Thats not something we have looked into

Bouncer222 12-03-2009 07:07 PM

Can you PLEASE develop this feature if it's not already out there... to have the showcase of awards in two separate categories in the forums like you can view on these forums: www.edgegamers.org?

Xanlamin 12-03-2009 09:32 PM

Like stated in an earlier post, that is not a single hack that does that. We can look into it and see if it may be possible, but I doubt it is as it would need to be 2 installs of the same mod and you can not do that without renaming things. You would be better off with 2 separate mods, or it would of already been done cause there are several site that do that.

Bouncer222 12-03-2009 09:44 PM

ok so I would have to rename some stuff and install a duplicate of this mod, what is it that needs to be modified or renamed in the package?

Some..1 12-03-2009 11:34 PM

thank you Xanlamin!

A lot, it would require an almost complete rewrite.

General Ray 12-04-2009 07:35 PM

<font face="courier new">Installed, and works very nicely. This is the kind of hack that will go over very well with the type of community I run.

Kind regards.</font>

Great mod. Our members really love it.

What do I need to change to add the award name to the post title?

PHP Code:

$posttitle construct_phrase($vbphrase['award_request_post_title'], "$award_request_recipient_name");

I've tried the below code, and it's not doing the trick for me.

PHP Code:

$posttitle construct_phrase($vbphrase['award_request_post_title'], "$award_name");

abdulbasitsaeed 12-06-2009 01:15 AM

Hi there, Xanlamin! :)

After having a look at the beta, any update on whether you would be updating this lovely mod for version 4? :)

Xanlamin 12-06-2009 02:46 AM

Yes we will, but it will take some time, work and the holidays are hell right now.

abdulbasitsaeed 12-06-2009 03:10 AM

Glad to hear so. :)

choccyclaire 12-06-2009 02:37 PM

How can you make it so the thread isn't moderated on a forum that members don't have permission to post in? I know this can be done because the automatic threads work fine on the staff ap mod.

EDIT: Nvm I found a way around this.

N2L Fatality 12-07-2009 12:51 PM

Can anyone inform me how to install this to my forums. I have added everything that say upload to the correct directory but what do i do with the file that says product-yet_another_award_system-3.8.2?

Any answer on this?
Currently any user requesting more than one award at a time appears like this in the thread's forum;

Award Request for Constara!
Award Request for Constara!
Award Request for Constara!
Award Request for COnstara!

Would be nice if the threads created also included the name of the award for obvious reasons.
Let me know if you don't have any idea how to accomplish this, and I'll resume trying to on my own.

Thanks.

I have attached examples. Example 1 is how it looks currently on the site. I have another site that runs something completly different (Example 2). I would like to have example 1 look like example 2.

I dont want the spaces in between each medal (example 1)

I would like it to default under the avatar like it is in (example 2)

I would also like it to default to rows of three or four medals per row like it is in (example 2)

Someone mentioned early in the thread about giving multiple of the same awards to an individual. When I give multiples of the same it just adds to the medal count. If you see in (example 2) there are silver or gold oak clusters (like real military medals) that get added for subsequent duplicate medals. Is this possible?

Thanks for any and all help...

D²

Bouncer222 12-13-2009 02:02 AM

second example is in postbit_legacy you have to chant it from postbit to postbit_legacy.

deathdlr 12-13-2009 07:28 PM

Thanks for the info Bouncer. I went in and looked at those templates but for the life of me I cant see what needs to be changed. Any help would be grately appreciated.

Xanlamin 12-13-2009 07:38 PM

You don't change the templates, you change in vBulletin Options > Style & Language Settings > Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template and change from postbit to postbit_legacy

This is good news! This is one of the mods that I consider at the top of the list that I need when I move to VB4. Thanks for all of your work on this!

Thank you that worked well. I still have a couple of issues that can?t be terribly hard to alter I just am not sure where to start.

You can see (example 1) shows how it looks currently after I changed the setting on the admin panel. You can see this looks awful. Since the style has a fixed width the awards shrink the visible window space of the post.

(Example 2) is how I would like it to look.

I have three categories for awards. Military, Site and Game. I have the display order set as follows; (military 1), (site 2), (game 3). I would like to see the awards set up similar in order of precedence.

As you can see in (example 1) there is a definite space between the ribbons. How do I go about taking that space out. I am trying to go for the look as a military rack similar to this

Is there any way to tie multiple of the same medals into a cluster similar to the posted image?

Thank you for any help you are able to lend.
D?

Trek 12-13-2009 10:19 PM

I'd like to make it so the tooltip for the postbit and member pages for an award use the "issue reason" and not the name of the award.

The reason is, we have trophies that we want to reuse the images for and use the issue reason to display what they were awarded for.

I know I can just duplicate the image in the awards section and I might do that, but I think displaying the issue reason there would be cooler. ;)

deathdlr 12-14-2009 12:10 AM

When I try to request a medal i am getting this message

Quote:

you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
I cant see where my privelages options are messed up. Both reg members and admin get this error.

Thanks
D?

Xanlamin 12-14-2009 01:54 AM

Permissions set in the usergroups?

deathdlr 12-14-2009 04:44 AM

hmmmm.... i have found the only usergroup that is exempt is the unregistered usergroup. so adding. is the mod assigned to default to usergroup 1?

Xanlamin 12-14-2009 05:08 AM

I believe all groups are default not allowed.

I've resorted to quoting myself. Mainly to show how many times I've posted and you fail to "support", while completely ignoring my inquiries. (note these posts including this one have been made weeks apart. more than reasonable imo) I've been cordial, and polite. However my patience are thinning.

And the authors wallet isn't getting any fatter from supporting this mod for free. While I DO understand your frustration as I've had support issues with mods in the past myself, you have to remember that you're getting this for free and you are owed nothing.

Xanlamin 12-14-2009 05:45 PM

I am sorry Brakkish I did not answer you right away. We do not have the answers right when everyone wants them, when someone would like to have something done first we have to see if it is even possible, this means we go look at the code and try it and test it, then if it is possible we tell you how to do it or release another update. We have not done the recode on this yet so the code is still sloppy from the original author.

Bouncer222 12-14-2009 11:44 PM

BIG feature request:

Could you make an option to disable ability to give users multiple numbers of the same medal? Such that when you try to give the user the medal, it will reply with the name that already has what medal upon submitting the medal to user.

I'm pretty sure this is not hard?
