DJ... you didnt upload my updated version of GameVideos... The uploaded version I made supports not only www.gamevideos.com, but also gamevideos.1up.com (same website, different URLs)... The one in the master list is correct, the individual one isnt... As well, The Escapist Magazine should have extract destination data enabled.

AndyA 08-23-2008 06:44 AM

DJ, I have to say that I'm very impressed with the updates. The Photosynth feature works a treat ! Thanks very much. :D

MadK 08-23-2008 09:15 AM

Thanks a lot, Digital Jedi! You've done a really great job, I must say!

Digital Jedi 08-23-2008 09:53 AM

I'm glad you like them guys.

Hrm, that's weird, it looks like I never even saved it. I guess all those Game[name] definitions threw me. I adjusted that and will update the main ZIP in a minute.

The Escapist will still work with Extract destination data turned off. You'll note the RegEx you posted earlier didn't specify either. Sometimes I leave it on and sometimes I leave it off if the definition doesn't need it. I think this time I left it off just because the name of the site goes on so long before you actually get a truncated version of the name of the video. But I'll note here that folks can tick that back on if they want to.

Stryker412 08-23-2008 11:43 AM

DJ any way to add a delete all definitions option in the next update?

MonkYZ 08-23-2008 11:49 AM

Digital Jedi: you are my hero ! Gametrailers User movies now works perfect. And you managed to make youtube videos have fullscreen option !!! You're the best ! Thank you !

Digital Jedi 08-23-2008 11:53 AM

That would have to be made to The Geek's modification itself, and I don't have any way to edit that. Maybe someday if I learn more, and The Geek wants a co-author. But for now, we'll have to do them one at a time.

Digital Jedi 08-23-2008 12:44 PM

Alright, let me catch up on some of these.

Can someone make an XML or a parser for this site so I can just post a link on my forum?

That would be so hot. Probably make AME a more valuable tool as well!

Check out surfthechannel.com
http://www.surfthechannel.com/cat/television.html

Surf the Channel is one of those "video harvesting" sites. What I mean by that is they don't really host anything, they collect links to videos from other sites and collect them into a file system. That creates a problem most of the time, because every site they use is going to use a different embed code. I can't make AME guess which code their going to use. (And it's not like, say, Newsclipper, who reconvert all their videos into a new player.)

The good news is, I didn't see a site from the ones I looked through that AME doesn't already support. You should be able to use the permalink for most, if not all of these videos.

Thanks

They have no embed code to speak of, and I didn't see anything even when I registered on their video hosting site with the Foamy flash converted to videos.

I got a query...is there any possiblity of having zshare video embedded...rather than showing the download link in the forum.....

It would be much appreciable if you can give me some ideas on this...

:)

Not the way zSHARE structures their URLs. There's no way to distinguish among videos extentions, not to mention file types.

P.S. Could be possibile some kind of unification, so we have extra options in AME... something like a box where we should write window size and apply to all known websites ? Or maybe some global options for centering or aligning ? :)

That would have to be something applied to the main modification. I don't think it's possible, with what little I know, but it would have to be made part of AME itself.

ETDC 08-23-2008 01:04 PM

Given that I can't seem to get the import to work, how can I import the Master XML? :)

You can truncate the entire table of definitions from PhpMyAdmn if you have it.

That would be tough entering them one at a time. I would really try to nail down what the core problem is with the AME import, because that could be something could give you more problems down the line. I don't remember if I asked, but did you have any previous media embedding hacks installed prior to AME?

New... JUSTIN.TV Embed Code...

HTML Code:

http://www\.justin\.tv/([\w]+)
HTML Code:

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" height="263" width="320" id="jtv_player_flash" data="http://www.justin.tv/widgets/jtv_player.swf?channel=$p1" bgcolor="#000000"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="movie" value="http://www.justin.tv/widgets/jtv_player.swf" /><param name="flashvars" value="channel=$p1&auto_play=false&start_volume=25" /></object>

Digital Jedi 08-23-2008 03:55 PM

Live Cam site. That's pretty neat. I'll include that in the next udpate.

AndyA 08-23-2008 04:16 PM

This isn't a fault with the DJ's Photosynth mod, it's just some odd behaviour that I'm experiencing with Firefox on 32 bit Vista. If I scroll on my forum page the displayed Photosynth image moves out of the frame. It's fine with IE7, does anyone have any ideas ?

Nvidia 8500GT, fresh drivers just installed.

Hey Digital Jedi, can you think of a embed code for Xfire Videos, please? :)

Example video:

Thanks!

I checked with FireFox 2.0 and it works fine, but I'm on XP. Could be a Vista issue.

I'm sorry, did I skip over your post or was that in the other thread? I meant to reply to you as well.

I checked Xfire, and they don't have any embed code available, unless it's not visible to unregistered users. If they do allow embedding, cull me 6 or 7 diverse examples and their respective URLs so I can see if I can make it work, if you don't mind.

tekguru 08-23-2008 08:18 PM

Any idea of which table it is?

Regs 08-23-2008 09:01 PM

That's actually just the permalink, it doesn't look like they make embed code available to the public.

It turned out that installing SP1 was the fix. Thanks.

RedDevil 08-25-2008 11:19 AM

I see there is one for mtv.com is one available for the UK mtv.co.uk site as they block people outside the USA viewing the videos.

I did have a tinker but it wouldnt work maybe cos i aint too clued up on this yet

Digital Jedi 08-25-2008 01:43 PM

You know, I almost didn't make one for MTV, because they block 90% of the videos to the US too. I don't understand why they have embed code on every single video on their site, and then anything you'd actually want to post says you have to visit the site to view it.

I can make a definition for MTV.co.uk, but I'd need some help on that one. As expected, their videos are blocked for me as well. If you could, cull, as diverse as you can find, 6-10 random URLs and their corresponding embed codes, then I could work up a definition that should work and you could test it out for me before I add it to the main files.

i would be glad to help, however being a bit new to the forums scene if you could let me know what you need and where the codes are hidden be happy to grab them for you. PM me the info u need. i did notice they dont display the codes freely.

Digital Jedi 08-25-2008 04:08 PM

I'm not sure how it looks on the UK site, but the US site has the typical Embed Code and Link box beside the video, like they have on YouTube. So for each video you select, copy what's in both boxes and the address in your browser if it looks different from what's in the Link box (even if its only different by 1 character).

example here
Code:

<embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.co.uk:253828" allowScriptAccess="always" enablejavascript="true" width="400" height="312" wmode="window" flashvars="autoPlay=false&franchise=playlist&moreVideosUrl=http://rss.mtv.co.uk/mtvuk/video/latest%3Fformat=xml%26" allowfullscreen="true"></embed>

They changed the code already? Geez, I made that definition a couple of days ago. Nature of the beast I guess. I may have to do another update.

Deleted the default definitions that came with AME. They are outdated, and definitions with the same name do not overwrite. You should probably be able to tell the difference between them and mine, because I always set the Display Order at 1 so everything sorts alphabetically.

hmuchmo1 08-26-2008 11:35 AM

Perfect.. that was it!! thank you so much for such nice mod!

I don't know how many of you are watching the original modification thread, but The Geek just posted a BETA version of AME 2.0 while he was on vacation if you want to test it out.

MTV seems a little off, I'm guessing url has changed

http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?id=1592343&vid=195024

Try to include that and you'll get a video (not necessarily the one you want) and below it would be:
;vid=195024

I could piece apart that specific url, but something more elegant would probably work better in case anything changes or is added again.

Digital Jedi 08-27-2008 06:43 AM

It's probably the ampersand (&). Sometimes the RegEx has to be set to read the Ampersand Command (&amp;) rather then the symbol itself. Try opening up the MTV definition and in the Regular expression, put a semi-colon (;) where you see it in red below:

Code:

That should be a pretty easy one, the media key is in the URL :)
