Can this be used to add side columns for ads and not have vb content in them?

I don't seem to be able to delete custom links from the usc_cp.php page in user cp.

Also how would I go about under so it displays under the user info bit?

Fantastic addition, I love it.

Is there any way to add this so it shows in my archives? Search engines send alot of people to my archives rather than the live forum and I would like to monitize a little more on that.

If this is an easy edit, let me know what to edit and I will take care of the rest.

Thanks Kerry-Anne, this looks like a great addition. I'd like to display it on some styes, but not on all, so I'll run it up on my test board first. It doesn't sound as though that will be too much of a problem though. :) *Installed* - (but not yet "live").

Ok let me try a different approach. I don't speak code and I'm not a programmer! I spend my days as a locksmith and firearms instructor I know just enough HTML to get by and I learn as I go.
And here's how I have it!

• Download USC

• Unzip file

• Upload to forum directory (with this I use SmartFTP, drag over and uploaded)

• Now I can't find usc_upgrade.php in AdminCP directory to delete it?

• And when your talking about import the xml as a product how is this done:confused:.. Styles & Templates>Download / Upload Styles>Import Style XML File ???

If someone would like to help pm me.?? I'm also on Skype?

Just use a basic WYSIWYG html editor and paste the source code into the usc_block templates. You can make it as simple or as complex as you like and keep it so only you - admin - can see the result to start with, so you can experiment and make errors and no one's laughing at you! :p Then switch it on for members/guests/whoever to see when you're satisfied.

Sounds good, just not sure what to put in them ;)

OK this seems to break a couple of other javascript things for people on IE and Firefox - basically the Search dropdown and quicklinks drop down doesn't work and the whole sidebar doesn't display??? Any clues to fixing this one or anyone else had this problem? I've not edited anything I'm aware of that would cause this to happen.

Im wondering if anyone knows how to get the little collaspe icon to sit ontop of the table... or better still in the table.... its way up above and Id like to have it resting ontop of the table.....

Also my forum loads much slower with this enabled, could I have done something wrong?

Now this is what has taken place, I went in and removed USC_22 out of my vBulletin file and down loaded it again, unzip folder, uploaded it into forums folder by drag and drop in SmartFTP!

Opened USC_22 folder in SmartFTP> upload> admincp>and then I see :eek:usc_upgrade.php wasn't there before? I delete it-"gone"!

Now I'm still having issues with the (import the xml as a product)? I have been trying the browse thing in Import Plugin Definitions but this doesn't seem to work :confused:and I've did the browse upload thing many time. would I handle this in SmartFTP by drag over and drop the file in forums? I also see it in my server cp file manager??
Like I said I never heard "import as a product"

What steps should I take to import this xml file ??
This has became more then just putting columns on the side of my forum :mad: I'm on a mission to learn how to make this happen.

When you installed the product does it show in the list of installed products?

After the product is installed, did you edit the usergroup permissions to enable the usergroups to see the columns?

Switch off whichever one you dont want in the options.

Nice try , but there is only one Ultimate side comlumns option menu :D

The only thing that is showing up on the list of installed products is vBulletin 3.7.2

Depending on if you upgrade, or fresh install you will want to tell the reader this option. I did a fresh install and out of habit I clicked the "allow overwrite" option. Then press the <import> icon/button and it will list the styles it is adding the templates to. With this product in the install instructions the "upgrade" path may be a little different between the last version and this one.

sorry I messed up. I honestly had this all typed up and pretty. What I sent you was a table of a database I was working on for my own forum. Edit your usergroup permissions and templates for your ads.

In a way it's kinda funny, I studied that code hard even printed it out a read it on the road in-between jobs. I keep telling myself "I will not rest until i understand."LOL

I tried uninstlling and reinstilling still got the two column problem :(

d-wiz, the only thing that comes to mind is that you have the modification installed twice or have a previous install. In your plug-ins (not your products) do you have anything about side columns listed? with not being able to see your admin cp my troubleshooting is limited.

There is a whole row in plugins all crossed over? Should I uninstall and check if they are still there?

I think you are right about installing it twice, I had a little trouble installing it as I'm new to all this and had to try a couple of times before I got it right.

I'm actually still not sure if I was supposed to just install 2.2 or 2.0 then 2.2 to be honest :D

How would I display it like this:

I guess I could edit this in the templates myself but am a little lost? Is there an easy "float left" type thing I can do or do I need to change the place that the sidebar appears in each template individually? If so.. where?

The ones with strike through are ones you have disbled.

You only need to install one version.

If you installed 2.0 and 2.2 then that may be what your problem is.

Uninstall both ( do not remoave the files) and re-install only the 2-2 XML. I am thinking she included all versions of 2.x to give users more flexibility in their installation.

I can only uninstall 2.2 through manage products. I uninstalled it and reinstalled only 2.2: uploaded files and imported product-ka_ultimate_sidecolumn_2-2.xml after deleting usc_upgrade.php.

Hi.. I am new to forums and new around here.. but certainly not new to building sites, etc. Anyway... building forums is a whole new world for me although I grasp the basics as I am used to HTML, CSS, RTML for you yahooers. Anyway, I just tried installing this, two questions, one, I have "re-skinned" the forum with one of miners skins, the sidebars are not showing up, could this be a cause, that I have re-skinned the forum that is?

My other question is I downloaded the Mini Navbar: Breadcrumb at Bottom of Thread
Version: 1.0.4, prior and in the installed products screen it put a [S]slash through the name [/S]. I guess the USC plug in cancels out the Mini Navbar plugin?

please, Pm me a link to your site. you have me curious now.

You have to enable each user to be able to see the columns in their user group settings.

The blocks will not show unless they have some content in them. If the blocks have no content then they will not show up. Find a usc template for a block and paste an add code in it and it will show up. I just enabled admins to see them as I was installing and testing.

If the hooks that are called for this product are not in that skin, then they will not show up. It may just be as simple as going into the usergroup permissions and alowing each usergroup to see them.

I am not sure on the mininavbar, I have not installed that product. There are several options in the control panel for where on the page the column will show. you can have it show with or below the navbar as well as start at the top of the page.

Well I guess the skin isnt the problem as I put it in default mode and they still arent showing. This was a fresh install so I uploaded the admincp folder and merged that with the existing so it has

root/forums/admincp
root/forums/includes
root/forums/.dsstore
root/forums/usc_cp

I then went in and uploaded the 2.2 xml.. then read since this was a fresh install 2.1 maybe should of been uploaded.. so I deleted 2.2xml through the vb control panel/products screen... uploaded the 2.1xml and then the 2.2xml through the products screen both times allowing them to overwrite... I then edited the template and put <tr><td class="alt1">Hi</td></tr> as a tester in block one... I then went into the screen Setting Group: Ultimate Side Columns Options and enabled show left column, show right column and for it to show on all pages... still nothing. The only thing I can think of is as it was mentioned, there is a usergroup permissions that needs to be turned on.. can anyone point me to exactly where in the usergroup settings changes would need to be made? Otherwise.. I am a bit stumped..
