Hi Chris & djbaxter,

Still the same issues bugging me..

1. How to set a sender email. All the the email send from my forum is having blank from address.

2. Please tell me how to send HTML mails. If i add HTML code ( Say the default code in your hack) the mails received it as code itself, not the HTML formated text. How to enale this.

Thanks again for this cool hack. :)

This is either a problem with your email server or with your email client. If you are not set up to send and receive HTML / rich text emails, you can't do it with this add-on either.

And since the add-on uses the email address set in your vBulletin configuration, it would suggest to me that either that isn't set correctly or your email server isn't configured correctly.

What happens with other emails sent by your forum? Like topic reply notifications?

Rickie3 03-24-2007 02:46 AM

How funny...I was just thinking this morning how I needed something like this! Thank you!!

Hemanth 03-27-2007 02:57 AM

Hi djbaxter
Thank you very much for replying.. All the other forum mails are working fine with sender as admin@mydomain.com..

But where to set the forum to send HTML emails. I thought i was also a hack, right?

djbaxter 03-27-2007 11:26 AM

Are you able to receive HTML emails from other sources in your email client? When your forum sends out other emails, are they plain text or HTML/rich text (do you see clickable links in your forum emails)?

tanyeri24 03-28-2007 08:08 PM

there is a bug. My Email Frequency is 1 but the plungs sending all 2-4 days a email. That turn people crazy!!

Fungsten 03-28-2007 08:34 PM

What does the description say for the email frequency? It says how frequent emails are sent out. /another way of saying this is "how often" meaning, you have set the emails to be sent each and every day. If you wish users to not receive emails as often, then maybe you should increase this amount?

Maybe the conditions you have set in the settings have not been met? try running the plugin manually. Oh, and make sure it is turned on, and active as by default the plugin is disabled.

Read the thread!

Set your email frequency to something longer than 1. At that setting, it will try to send out emails to every inactive user every day.

Set it to something reasonable like 30, or 60, or 90 (days). Or longer if you wish.

That shows that the plugin is working as it should, but the conditions to send an email are not met.

Also, you have it set to run once per day. at 3 minutes past midnight.

deezelpope 03-29-2007 10:11 AM

Also, I just noticed, that first screenshot is for the Activation Reminder, not this mod.:rolleyes:

Same story in the other screenshots before that...:D Observant, aren't I?:rolleyes:

d8tabyte 03-29-2007 02:21 PM

I'd just like to say I have seen a few members come back after just a week of running this. The day I turned it on, I had at least 5 names show up in the WOL that I hadn't seen in months.

Thanks!

Fungsten 03-30-2007 01:16 AM

What about these other conditions?

I am not using a mail client but gmail & yahoo for testing as most of the users have it. To best of my knowledge vbulletin is sending non-html mails by default. There is a hack here in vB.org to make it send HTML mails. What i'm asking is will I need this hack for making this work?

Take a look at this discussion: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66522

Find:

Code:

$result = $vbulletin->db->query_read("SELECT * FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user WHERE lastactivity < '$datetime[lastpost]' AND emailDate < '$datetime[lastemail]' LIMIT $quantity");
$vbulletin->db->query_write("UPDATE " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user SET emailDate = '$now' WHERE lastactivity < '$datetime[lastpost]' AND emailDate < '$datetime[lastemail]' LIMIT $quantity");

Change to:

Code:

$result = $vbulletin->db->query_read("SELECT * FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user WHERE lastactivity < '$datetime[lastpost]' AND . TABLE_PREFIX . "usergroup != 20 AND emailDate < '$datetime[lastemail]' LIMIT $quantity");
$vbulletin->db->query_write("UPDATE " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user SET emailDate = '$now' WHERE lastactivity < '$datetime[lastpost]'  AND . TABLE_PREFIX . "usergroup != 20 AND emailDate < '$datetime[lastemail]' LIMIT $quantity");

Well guys, I really loved this hack thanks Braithwaite! and thanks djbaxter for your help...

I ve installed this hack last week. I ve just noticed that it still sends e-mails to the banned users...

what should I do? Banned usergroup is 8 in my board and I didnt add them in the AdminCP where it says:

Code:

List the usergroups that you wish to send the emails to here. (Seperate by commas) eg. 2,3,4,7
the remindermail.php which I ve got from you is like this:

Code:

$result = $vbulletin->db->query_read("SELECT * FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user WHERE lastactivity < '$datetime[lastpost]' AND emailDate < '$datetime[lastemail]' AND options & 16 LIMIT $quantity");
        $vbulletin->db->query_write("UPDATE " . TABLE_PREFIX . "user SET emailDate = '$now' WHERE lastactivity < '$datetime[lastpost]' AND emailDate < '$datetime[lastemail]' AND options & 16 LIMIT $quantity");

how are we gonna fix this?

thanks a million

I don't understand why the code needs fixing?

Fungsten 03-31-2007 07:13 PM

What I was asking you about was what other settings could there be where email would not get sent? Should I ask that question in the other forum for general questions?

maybe it is just a case of you dont have any inactive users?

the code works like this:
  • Find inactive users based on last visit/last post
  • Check previously returned inactive users against usergroups
  • Check aforementioned inactive users for receive admin email settings

if a users is considered inactive, is a member of specified usergroups, and has selected to be sent admin emails then an email will be sent.
if any one of the previous is not true then an email will not be sent.

if you increase the quantity, it is more likely to send emails out.

there is nothign wrong with thequoted code - the usergroup checking comes later.

make sure your users which are banned are not part of any other usergroups.

the code will check each member against the list of usergroups specified, and if they are a member of that usergroup then they will be sent an email. it uses vbulletin's is_member_of function.

It was designed on 3.6+ this may be the problem.

sam marland 04-02-2007 06:50 AM

yes it is in the products list but it won't show in the admin panel. I don't think it is sending emails out either. Please help :D

try reinstalling, as it is supposed to be in the options.

to the best of my knowledge the product file is formed correctly, and so should install properly. maybe an error on your board? Check the task log to see if emails have been sent, and if it's in the task list. im sure that it's set to be off by default, but cant remember for sure now.

cy88 04-03-2007 07:19 AM

Such a great mod, installed!

Is there anyway I could find out who the module sent the reminder emails to? (ie. a log)

blogtorank 04-03-2007 07:55 AM

Installed and thanks for such a kick ass hack!

just check the task log for the product and it shows you who it's been sent to.
