I just tried to install the bridge in our newsblog http://www.jdk.de/de/news

Everything is just fine - but we have one big problem: Trackbacks do no longer work. When a trackback is sent to the URL of the blogarticle a vbulleting error message shows up (URL not on POST whitelist).

Is there any chance to find a solution for this?

This plugin does not support trackbacks.

I saw that actually trackbacks are not supported. I think a Wordpress-Plugin which disables (or in this case just destroys) basic Wordpress features is a kind of useless.

Is there any module available where this bridging thing is disabled, but the threads are created in vB and the comments are shown in wordpress?

Or has anyone a hint for me how to modify the plugin to get this?

I noticed that a number of people experienced the issue where you cannot login to the wordpress control panel after install.

I am experiencing this same issue.

If anyone can comment on how this is fixed, it would be very helpful. I've been trying for hours and can't seem to figure it out :(

update #1:
i wiped everything from my server and started again.
i created a new sql db with one user, and that user act is used to access the db in both vb and wp.
my vb version is 3.6.5. my wp version is now 2.1.2.
i am running sql 4.1.20 set as mysqli in vb and php 5.2.1.
i installed a fresh copy of WP and a fresh copy of VB
i utilized vb prefixes in the vb install, and referenced it accordingly in the bridge install.
so far, everything works ok. my next step will be to use vb for the comments.
im not sure if its ok to use the same db user acct for both wp and vb to acces the db, but as i said, everything seems to work properly so far.
update #2:
i modified the classic template and everything seems to work. not sure what the problem was....

I am experiencing this same problem. The bridge conflicts with every other plugin (even hello dolly). The errors are as described in the quote above. I get the vb_threadid mysql error message, the headers error, and then then "Unable to load O." error when trying to use admin pages created by any other plugin (admin pages for themes, widgets, ecommerce, anything).

Since this plugin conflicts with every single other plugin I think its fair to say this isn't just a situation with someone else's code. This is such a nice and elegant plugin I would really like to see it play nicely with others.

I have a test forum I could give you full access to (wp-admin, vb admin, ftp, shell) if you would like to see this bug in action. PM, IM, or email me for details.

[EDIT]Looking into this a bit more I was able to get rid of the "Unable to load 0." by upgrading to your latest version, but there are persistent problems elsewhere. The database and headers error listed above happen every time you activate any plugin. The plugin is properly activated though, so this is just a nuisance rather than something causing a loss of unctionality.

The next error is in how certain parts of the wordpress admin interface is displayed. To me this is most noticeable in the shopping cart plugin. I can not edit any products. The area of the screen which re-draws to show the edit area instead displays the wordpress-admin dashboard. This, however, is not the only place this type of error occurs. The upload interface on the page edit pages similarly shows the wordpress-admin dashboard. The commonality between these two sections is they both have fields to upload a file.

Any chance we could get these bugs fixed?

However it's not quite how I wanted it to work.

This works ok:
primary group "Registered Users" -> "subscribers"

But this doesn't:
primary group "Registered Users" -> "Do Not Map"
additional users "Custom Group" -> "subscribers"

I wanted just the custom group to be able to comment rather than all registered users but can't get that to work. I'm guessing that since everyone in the "Custom Group" is also a "registered user" that the "do not map registered users" bit kicks in first?

Is there a way round this please?

The mapping only works for PRIMARY user groups, not secondary.

OK I have a problem here on Wordpress v2.13 got everything setup but now when you login and go to the portal page you see

I think this is an issue with one of your vbulletin plugins. If you peruse this thread, you will find someone else had a similar issue.

Is there a way that people could comment on my blog posts without having to register on my forums?

The only way I can think of is if you allow unregistered users to post in your forum, or the forum your blog posts are posted to.

I seem to be picking up a problem and now I am not sure whether there is maybe a conflict with vBdrupal

I cannot speak for the Vbdrupal plugin. If you just deactive the vbridge plugin, it should end any error you get from the plugin.

edit: ok you need to delete the tables from the database .. i am going things slowly now to see what may have caused the problem

I finally got it all set up and working properly. Now I am just wondering is there a way so the log in link on WP is redirected to the login page on VB as well as the register link, so it is automatically sent to the registration page of VB instead of WP?

edit: OK read this >> All that error means is the column already exists. The plugin should be enabled at that point. If it really bothers you, delete the vb_threadid column from the wp_posts table.

I had that problem when I was trying to get it to install right. I activated it, didn't work right, and ended up not being able to get back in the WP admin control panel, so I just renamed it to deactivate it, logged in, went back and renamed it to what it was suppose to be, then went in to activate it, got that so I just hit the back button on my browser and it was activated like it was suppose to be. Then I went back to make the changes again. So if you are trying to activate it and get that, hit your browsers back button and you should see it activated.

I installed the plugin but it will not post. When I click publish it goes to a blank screen with the post.php url showing in the address bar.

Anyone had this problem yet?

as long as this doesnt work, we wont install it.

If you use Vbulletin for comments, then no, trackbacks are not supported, but if you are just integrating users, then trackbacks are not affected.

See if you have this same issue when you turn off VBULLETIN plugins. Otherwise, you will need to check your servers error log.

Hey guys, I may be doing something wrong but if I use formatting on my WP blog entry the script is displayed as text. eg, if I bold text it displays fine on the blog but will have the <strong>strong tags wrapped around it</strong> instead of converting the strong to the BB Code for bold [b] when displayed as a forum post, the same happens for links.

Any ideas?

should be just before wherever the number of comments or comment actually have to be posted

For wordpress 2.1.x the single.php and comments.php files are different
so if you put function call in single.php and try to post the comments through single.php it does not work
I moved function call also in comments.php and it worked

I've installed the mod, and generally it works. Thanks so much for writing it, and being brave enough to support it! Although, that said, there are a lot of "little" frustrating issues I'm running into, stuff that's driving my editors nuts, and making me crazy as well.

For the record, I actually chose vbulletin / wp for this site based on the promise of this plugin!

I'm using 3.6.5 vbulletin, 2.1.3 wordpress

• Installed in same DB / domain

I've read this entire thread from start to finish, attempted many of the hacks/adjustments to fix some of my problems, but most just break me further and I need to revert.

If you don't mind letting me know the status of these bugs listed below, answers like:

• Unknown bug, will investigate
• Known issue, will fix.

• As designed, will not fix
• Feature request, will implement
• Feature request, will not implement

The wp-admin panel is broken/buggy in numerous ways.

• The uploads section in the "write post"page is broken when the plugin is active. It seems that the code for the forum post dropdown list is conflicting with the code to display the upload bar properly.
• Editors have to login to the forums, then refresh the wp-admin at least twice before they can see the wp dashboard. Sometimes they need to login 3 or 4 times before the wp-admin panel will come up. Clicking "remember me" is not an option for some of my editors (don't ask why) but even then, that doesn't always work either.
• Logging out is broken. Pressing "log out" from the wp-dashboard sends me to --> vb logout page. But if I immediately go back to my wp-admin URL, I'm still logged in and able to make changes. This problem requires a cookie refresh/mass delete via IE options before it can be resolved.
• There is an issue with new editors that are registered through VB that I want to be "editors" of the WP blog via mapping, where their username don't show up in the dropdown list when making new WP posts. I still have no idea how to fix this and I have lots of editors stepping on each other now when the make posts since WP seems to choose a default username that doesn't match that of their VB username.
• Deleting a post in WP doesn't delete the post in VB. So if one of my editors of the WP blog is not a VB admin, or just not savvy with VB, I'm stuck deleting posts for them.
• I'm also having problems with cr/linefeeds coming out of WP into VB. Getting ASCII characters in the forums when there should be a CR/LF. I've played around with the instructions in the readme, but no luck yet. I'll keep hammering on this, but it seems minor compared to the other issues above.

Also, a few wish list features:

• I wish there was a way to set a "default" forum to post into, having a dropdown list of available forums has created another step for my not-so-web-savvy editors to go through in order to make a functional post with working comments. I'd love to have an option to disable the "post in" dropdown list alltogether, letting me force all posts into a single forum. Is there an easy PHP hack I can make here to force this? I noticed another poster asking for this multiple times earlier in this thread.
• Is there a way to augment the post that is going into the forum through WP? Right now a WP post is copied into a forum verbatim. I'd like to insert : Author info and /quote the entire post. How would I go about doing that?

I keep getting a blank page when I try to post. The forum is showing in the wp posting area, yet if I click on save or publish, I just get a blank page.

I checked on here and the only other person who had problems had permission restrictions to thier forum. Mine does not have that.

I'm relatively new to wordpress & vBulletin.
I'm impressed with all the hacks & mods, and I'm trying to put together a site that uses wordpress as the main content engine, and uses vBulletin for the forums.
To note, I also have the vbWiki mod installed, which connects vBulletin & mediawiki with a single sign-on.


I have gone through the installation steps vbbridgeII, I believe that I have everything configured correctly.

I go to wordpress (http://mysite.com/), and I click the login link (http://mysite.com/wp-login.php). Instead of being taken to the login screen, I am redirected to http://mysite.com/forums)

If I login using vBulletin and then go back to wordpress, I see that I am logged in to wordpress (which I was hoping for)

If I click logout in wordpress, I am taken to (http://mysite.com/forums/login.php?d...4b4b5ce75ab4c5)

Instead of being redirected to the vBulletin pages, I guess I was expecting to stay in the wordpress pages and just have the single sign-on work for both sites.

Is what I'm seeing normal/expected behavior?
