I also have a couple of questions:
I have two users, claiming to live in different cities, that appear with the same IP and have both posted within 7 minutes. How probable is this? I suspect that they are the same person, but is there a way to be 100% sure, before taking any precautions? How accurate is this script?

The script is 100% accurate since it injects code into the cookie set by your forum. If someone goes to: hxxp://www.yourforum.com and then hxxp://youforum.com - that will generate 2 different cookies (the same if you have different TLDs (.net, .org., etc.)) and therefore 2 different screen-names can go unnoticed.

If they share an IP, and it is not a proxy-server IP (and they are not spoofing their IP) then they are the same person.

vitrag24 11-27-2007 10:47 PM

really provved much useful to me just after 1 day of installation..
one user was spamming severely and ZE detector trapped that user's of ids..
but i confused as ips of all users were not from even similer country..2were similer other were different..

and one more thing.. it detected x & y
then y & z

mean x=z isnt it? [but ip were from different country]

Paul M 11-28-2007 12:03 AM

Yes, x=z - they were no doubt using annonymous proxy servers.

oxblood12 11-28-2007 03:34 PM

How is it possible to get this message using this mod?

It seems to indicate that the same username is being logged on twice?

Mine was doing that and I asked the user to clear the cookies and they did and it stopped. But now I'm getting like 5 users with the same thing as you have going on.

Thanks ... :)

There must be a bug in the mod someplace...

Hi friends, i translate to spanish the english phrase in admincp of the pm but still appears in english. Anybody knows why?

I means the phrase XX seems to have multiple personalities...

mistyPotato 12-15-2007 12:37 PM

Hello,

I have had the Multiple Login Detector installed now for several weeks and the only detection I have been able to get is my own test.

I have a small forum with about 1000 members and only several hundred active members.

Is this about par for the course with this size a forum?

Thanks

Did you get it working again?

Traxdata 12-18-2007 02:02 PM

no problem using this hack with vb 3.7.0. beta2! great

Airkat 12-22-2007 04:42 PM

Anyone ever get the issue of it not automatically posting threads fixed?

biggeorge 12-24-2007 11:49 AM

My Multiple Account Registration Prevention notified me that someone was attempting to register an account with the same IP as another (3) members. No big deal... the MARP always works perfect on our forum. The strange thiing was that when I looked for the username in the AdminCP, the user didn't exist! And when I looked at the profile url linked from the MARP notification the userid was 0 (zero)... but it displayed a message saying "This user has not registered and therefore does not have a profile to view."

I'm running 3.6.8

Any ideas on this?

Airkat 12-24-2007 11:51 AM

Maybe it prevented them from registering?

Doctor Death 12-24-2007 12:19 PM

A member of my board had modified her router/LAN settings. Now I am getting messages that "Angelic and Angelic Appear to be using the same computer"...

Any idea why it would use the same user twice in the detector?

No. They are allowed to register by they're tossed into a FIREWALLED (limited access) usergroup.

I've never seen this happen before so I was a little concerned.

Guy Betten 12-27-2007 02:57 AM

I just installed this and it is great! I had a user who requested to be removed, for what ever reason and I removed him Sunday. Today I get home from work and this person has not only reregistered, but twice, lol. I actually let him back in, now i can watch and see what his interest is. He was making great posts before, so I was confused, JPT.

Lean Bodies 12-29-2007 12:46 AM

Doesn't seem to work for me for some reason.

Unsterblich 01-03-2008 11:34 AM

works, thank you, i click install

sturdy 01-03-2008 04:58 PM

How fix the problem, if somebody has some Special Chars in his nick like " or < or >
The Message which will be posted looks like that "<3_Ephraim_<3 "

tintructo 01-04-2008 09:22 PM

this mod is GREAT, it's working like a charm ;)

I have a suggestion for next update, if you like of course :

Could there be an option to set the User's ID not to check in the ACP ? I have some users with brothers who use different accounts in the same computer, and i'm getting a lot of PMs about the detection lol...

edit...i just saw that option...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...nevermind....awesome :)

njoker555 01-06-2008 09:02 PM

today it said two members tripped the AE Detector and they use same computer - i ran both of their IPs - one is located in Serbia and the other in mid-west United States which is about 10,000 miles difference lol

Whenever I receive an alert I always PM the User. I don't think I've been lied to yet.

I forgot about that. I have the Proxy Mod installed. Thanks.

rolfw1 01-10-2008 09:11 PM

Got two users now who throw up regular alerts, but as the same user. any ideas?

For instance

user1 seems to have multiple personalities using user1 and user1 sharing the same computer.

Just for the mentally impaired, what this mod does is shows if 2 or more member accounts log in from the same IP address (implying that they are hydra's)? Is this correct?

(Unless I'm mistaken) Same *computer*, specifically. Its cookie-based. Actually same computer AND same internet browser, provided cookies aren't cleared. Its still very useful as most people don't take the proper precautions against getting caught. Yes, some people can dodge it. But its still good to have to easily pick off everyone else.

So anyways, like my brother's in the next room and we have the same IP, but we don't set this off, providing we stick to our own computers. Other times siblings, even friends share a computer so they set this off, so sometimes you have to do some detective work to see if that's the case. My forum attracts a lot of teens, so that happens occasionally.

smooth-c 01-21-2008 11:12 AM

hm, having a problem here.

I've set up AE Detector, and soo far 3 users we have created are coming up that a certain staff member is registering them, when he is not but another is with a totally different IP.

Would them both being supermoderators confuse the system or is there a fix for this?

Thanks!

mistyPotato 01-21-2008 11:39 AM

I have 1000 members and installed AE 3 months ago and have not had a single AE trip yet.

I tested the board by creating a duplicate login and it DID log that one.

Is that normal for this size board?

It depends on how many banned users you have and what type of board it is. We got a lot but have 16000+ and quite a few banned peeps.

LauraS 01-21-2008 06:59 PM

I tried to import the .xml from my local computer, but my vB admin keeps telling me "No file uploaded and no local file found." When I enter all of the product information, it seems to import correctly but it doesn't update the vBulletin Options list with the product option link. Anyone else run into this issue?

ManagerJosh 01-22-2008 06:36 AM

Hey MP

I think you got a bug on this system. For some odd reason it keeps reporting a user of mine has multiple accounts but it lists the same account.

ie. Account1 seems to have multiple personalities using Account1 and Account1.

Ideas?

Degrinch 01-22-2008 10:08 AM

is this compatible with the new beta?

newguy 01-22-2008 10:10 AM

I have tried to make it trip off. I have not ever had it to report anything. I have went to different computers and made new accounts and then loged in and nothing happens at all. Any ideas?

If you are an admin it may not work. So you have the admin group in the "ignore usergroups" option?
Or your userid in "Ignore users"?

digitalnorte 01-23-2008 12:00 AM

Installed TKS !

It´s great for me.
