Just upgraded and working fine (vBul. 3.6.4)
|
like i said many times before can't you merge your 2 seperate vb hacks -> guest and member visits? all phpbb boards do this so it would be nice to have it on a VB board as well. :)

When there are thousands of members visiting every, the demand on resources is a bit high. Yes there are two distinct advantages in this hack for me:
1) if the number of members visited today is displayed, it impresses potential advertisers and new members 2) members wanting to know whether other members have visited the forums today can see that information (it's particularly useful for traders who are wanting to know if other members are ignoring their PMs/posts) Can I please make a request? Could we have an option to just show the totals on the home page without doing the long query to retrieve all the members? So just retrieve the count and display it. And then if the user clicks the display of the count, the list of members opens in a new page? This way both objectives above are achieved without having to retrieve all the members from the database every time the forum home is displayed. Thanks for your attention. |
To display the total you would still need to run the query (to count the records) - so nothing much would really be gained - and since this also adds an index to the user table, the query is not very intensive anyway.
If you have a slave SQL server (as many bigger sites do) then the latest versions (4.37 onwards) will run the query against that as well. |
We have a server just for SQL. Do you mean a secondary 'slave' server to that? I don't know how that works. Or how MySQL would use it.
Wouldn't doing a SELECT COUNT() be quicker than a SELECT USER. And ordering it by the user name would definitely put extra load on the SQL server since it would have to create a temporary table, wouldn't it? Ok, it's now 5pm and we have nearly 7,000 members having visted today. It's too many to put on the home page. A separate page would be very useful, though. |
I need to add a legend to the beginning of the list of usernames.
Supporter • Member • New Member • Unconfirmed • Banned The places I used put it in the wrong place. Were would I add this? PS. Supporter is supposed to be red, member blue. But vB is showing them as Green??? |
thank you so much:)
|
It was either this hack or the guests one on the update.
It took off the errors when the page was finished loading Now the page runs smooth |
After i add the Who visted today [hack] ..... i see this
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/6572/errorrw4.jpg and i want to see who vist my forum today like this one http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/2329/fixedne4.jpg so can anyone tell me what the best solution ??? |
There is something wrong with your usergroup markup html.
|
so what should i do ??
if u know any steps please tell me iam still new at vBulletin Board |
I am unable to get the display to load collapsed or even be toggleable after updating.
|
Have you customised the template, you will need to revert it if you have.
|
thank you!

Hello all,
Hello Paul, I'd like to know if it is possible to display users in chronological order of visiting time instead of alphabetical order? Thank you. |

But in which way should we "alter the sql in the plugin"? |
Chage the order by from username to dateline.

I'm really not a coder and it's a bit strange for me :( |
Quote:
Go into the file with a text editor, and you should see a SQL statement that has an order statement in it. It will say something like "ORDER BY USERNAME" as the last clause of the SQL statement. Change the text USERNAME to DATELINE or WHOREAD.DATELINE, and resave the file, perhaps under a new name. Then when you upload the product via the vBulletin product manager, point to your new edited file. |
I tried to change username by dateline and I had the following
Code:
Database error in vBulletin 3.6.4: |
I have the same with WHOREAD.DATELINE
Code:
Database error in vBulletin 3.6.4: |
change it to "ORDER BY lastactivity"
|
You're right !!! :D
Thank you very much. Finally, it was not so difficult :o |
Nice mod. I would love to see a add-on:
The maximum (record) number of members who visited on one day is: 2418 on 03-04-2006 at 11:59 p.m. Something like that, a little bit like we already have for the users actually connected... |

Oh Thanks. That works. I did not see that one. :)
