I'm having the same problem. I have it installed in 3.6 it works the first time a member logs in multiple time(s) (me) but not the second time I log in using different usernames.

It does work extermently well in 3.5X so I know it does work, it may just be a problem with 3.6

I have installed the moderate pm hack, I will remove that hack and check it out further.

It would only report additional login attempted if a new id is added to the array of ids that have been stored for an account... So, a cookie says you logged into "a"; then you login to "b", so it trips the detection, but logging into a or b again will not trip it again until you login to "c" which shows a new account access and trips itself.

When I get a chance to mess around with 3.6, we'll see about new features.

I have installed this hack and have been waiting for PM's alerting me to double accounts, but nothing happens. I have found out that there have been a lot of double accounts created in the last week. (found this by IP searching)
I am running vb 3.5.4 and AED 1.3.

I have no clue what's wrong. Help please.

Remember a shared IP address does not (necessarily) mean a shared PC. Have you tried testing it yourself? Make a new account, log out of your current account, log back in with the new account details and then see if a warning is generated.

It doesn't work that way..

It catches people using the SAME COMPUTER, NOT IP for multiple accounts.

I just made a second account for myself(i disabled the ignore function for all usergroups). But I have not received a PM.

i have installed and is working great question is what and where are theses cookies stored on a memebers computer and can these cookies be deleted :confused:

The cookies are stored like any other cookie as determined by the browser; yes, a user can delete them and it's possible they are removed when a user logs out using the clear all cookies option (I never checked). However, my experience is that most people are blissfully unaware of them and don't know anything about them.

using forum posting you need to put the forumdisplay number in on what topic you would like ae dector to post a message in
example say you have newbies first shout click on that topic
the dislay number will be at the end where the url address is hope it helps

I didn't test it directly, but it seems to be working for me on 3.6.0, since the system continues to send me reports of people tripping the multiple login detector.

Seems to work for me too on 3.6.0 gold.

possible feature suggestion, could the ip address be displayed in the message as well? a few users are using open proxies to just browse one of my sites and dont make a post, could be usefull to find out which ips are used

im not so sure, it is reporting things for me as well, but.. I know the people for which its reporting and they don't know the others/have never shared computers.

installed on 3.6 gold and it is posting all ok but i think results may be incorrect, a few members have been listed but i know for 100 % they have no other accounts, love the idea but need to double check its working before i start pointing the big finger at members, any idea of an offical 3.6 release?

how can you know 100% that is ridiculous unless you are the user yourself.

deception is VERY common on the forums. ae login detector is indispensible! very important mod :)

sometimes even when confronted the user will deny it, but the cookies don't lie

I too have found out that it has a flaw. One of our test accounts was supposedly said to be used by another member this is not possible as I am the only one to ever log on to it. I believe somewhere it repeats the same strings and saves to the database which in turn is read as the same cookie.

this is the same as me, and as mentioned by someone else i have a test account flagged up as well but only i use this account and it flagged up as a duplicate with a different user in wales and i am in london,

how ever it has picked up some users correctly and thats great :) just wondering if 3.6 is causing different results, i would love to see this ported to 3.6 as its a great tool ;)

this made mod of the month and says it's supported, you'd think he'd update it to 3.6

Not neccasarily....Its supported for 3.5x version, this does not mean that the coder has to upgrade the hack to a newer version of VB i.e. 3.6

Also the coder can change his/her mind at any time and not support the hack at all!

I am using 3.6 and it works for me. Question.... does the user see anything? Does it not allow them to login or something ?
