You have backups? Restore the functions.php file and then reinstall. Make sure that the functions.php isn't in the package. I got mine going awhile ago but got the VIP version from vbsocial's site. Works great.

For this forum, I didn't have a backup, it was a project I'd been working on that hadn't gone live yet.

Any way to fix this without a backup?

Do you have the functions.php file from the installation files? Just get that and copy it back. That should resolve it.

That seems to have fixed it, thanks.

Can't believe the the developer of this plugin would just leave people hanging like that :(

If you purchased the mod, then I get your point... Otherwise what are you talking about. I do not know 'Dave', but how do you know he isn't fully supporting his customers. This is the free version and for free it is awesome to have any mod! You need to take some responsibility yourself for not backing up your site before you applied new code. This is exactly why I do not make free mods, although I am one that likes to share in on-line communities. Dave doesn't deserve the grief. Just in case you did purchase the mod then I apologize for my behavior here..

What could I be doing wrong? Thank you for any advice

When testing out a new mod. Test it on a fresh copy of vbulletin with no other plugins, templates etc. It is one of the reasons you are allowed an off-line copy of the software.

Most likely you have some other modification or plugin that is interfering...

I have not loaded or tested the software myself, so I am no help beyond the basics.

Ok, I just did a fresh install of Vbulletin no other mods installed , i installed vBSocial and I get the same result.

Ya, for sure, it's not a makers fault at all for posting site breaking code, not following up to multiple replies about it or fixing it and just letting people install it and cost them lots of time and work figuring out how to fix it, .... Because it's a FREE, BRANDED, LINKED advertising prop for a pay product.

I don't know if you checked but ALL MODS on vbulletin.org are FREE, that's what this site is about. Great post bud, you really nailed it.

Honestly, he can KEEP his 'awesome' product if he's not willing to support it. I'd prefer products that are SUPPORTED and actually WORK to be posted here.

This product is garbage and should be removed from Vbulletin.org - Incoming terrible rating and report to mods for removal.

evershawn 05-15-2013 06:24 AM

Do not install this product if you want your site to continue running.

It is not supported by it's maker and I just broke my site trying to test it out (so have many others).

Beware of this mod!
