Hi bepe, thanks for your reply. I had, sometime ago, set up single-sign-on with mediawiki on a separate subdomain using NeoJeko's hack. I am still running vb 3.8.1 Following are the links:
forum: www.urduweb.org/mehfil
wiki : wiki.urduweb.org

In this post NeoJeko notes that..

For the rifeforum.com/rifeforum.org use case, you cannot achieve SSO using this hack across two different domains. It's just how it works - the cookies are not readable across domains. You will need some sort of federated authorization token to achieve this (i.e. SAML tokens or OpenID).
I just hope that you are able to come up with a solution for that too.

Wow. Once this is all worked out it's going to be GREAT! Really looking forward to getting into this when I have some time. Keep up the great work.

It is a compression issue. When setting the Admin CP >> Cookies and HTTP Headers >> GZIP Compression = 0 (Disabling it.. was previously 1) it worked.

Changes:
4.0.1.3 B3:
- product-vbmediawiki.xml Fixed one link to MediaWiki that was hard coded by accident
- vbMediaWiki.php Fixed charset for navbit links
- vbMediaWiki.php Fixed charset for page title
- product-vbmediawiki.xml Fixed charset for page title
- AuthPlugin_vbMediaWiki.php Possible fix for missing html header

gzip might still need to be disabled ... or perhaps it was header related... no idea

please report new bugs and if other bugs where fixed... I dont have most of the problems on my PC

Conflict:
Mediawiki = UTF-8
vBulletin = ISO-8859-1

It is a big problem...

yes, it is!!

best way is to set the forum to utf-8 too... but that is only possible if you make a fresh install of the forum else you will mess up all posts that where done already

my solution is that I render all wiki text into a variable now; then if needed I convert the charset to the same one as the forum
... if needed means: if the forum is not set to utf-8

this way should be working fine, just having some problems with the html headers now :$ ... or perhaps had problems ... lets see :)

hollosch 02-10-2010 08:55 PM

it's not possible to set my forum on UTF-8, :mad:
i would try your convert-variable-solution... :up:

Well - that serves me right.

So, let me publicly proclaim myself a total nob! Sorry for the hassle and the rather dumb questions I asked previously.

I've regained my senses and returned to being normal.

CoreyHawk & Bepe - My sorries.

Still having a few minor issues after following the install script to a tee:

Settings:

define( VB_INSTALL_PATH, '/home/domain.com/public_html' );
require_once( "$IP/includes/AuthPlugin_vbMediaWiki.php" );

and in admincp - settings:

/wiki

LocalSettings.php placed in wiki root directory.

To view error: http://gblcg.com/wiki/

Also click on 'Wiki' nav control here: http://gblcg.com to see a dia-box pop-up..

Am I still welcome to ask for help? :o

... if you select the monoblock skin, are the images back?

My fault - I upgraded mediawiki and didn't realise it had a new directory structure for images. Also thanks for the clarification with the user.php edits.
