sorry, forgot,

add an elseif after the pm notification

using $notifications_total instead of the pm notification

Sorry. My setup is very custom, so I tried to apply it to code for you by using your example. You can add text and/or hyperlinks in any of the three conditions, but this should do the trick for the basic image setup. Untested, but should work for the newpm.gif

The first condition is for pm's

The second is for all other notifications(will not see it if there are pm's

Third condition is for no notifications.

You can insert text or variables after the image tag but before the </a> for different text for each condition, including username.
