I use it to get people's attention - Hey, [you], you need to read this thread... viewing rates skyrocket

I have found a major problem with this... it works in usernames...

So now, I have a member (now banned) who's a mirror of whoever views their posts, profile, PMs, etc.

They also always display last on who's online, and just look weird. Seriously, he has the username of the viewer. I think you need to make the next version not parse usernames, and anyone using this needs to ban the [you] code in usernames...

First, you need to click install. Second, I have no idea what you just said. Please explain it further.

Just warning that someone found out you can use it in usernames and it'll parse as the viewers username. For example, if someone used it here, you'd see their name as Boofo, while everyone else would see their name as their own name.

Easy fix - just disallow [you] for usernames. >_>

Boofo 05-08-2008 05:14 PM

Yes, exactly. Problem solved. Thank you, Koroku. ;)

I am trying to use it in SmnLikQuick v2.0 - Advanced Announcements Block mod, in order to welcome my members, but it doesn't seems to work and only shows 'Welcome, [you]!' (It does supports BB tags).

Any chance for a solution?

The [you] is not an actual bbcode tag. It is a replacement variable. 2 different things. Apparently, that hack uses a different hook than I have set for the replacements.

I see, thanks for the info. It's a shame, could be a great solution for me.

Talk to the author of that hack and see what they say.
