If the simple creation of an Index causes you problems then I suggest you have a mysql issue. I cannot help that.

ACP > vBulletin Options > Top Posters > Automatic Link Creation

I'm not sure what happened with my install. It only shows a bullet dot and ().

Try installing it again.
