Hey this is my third request. Can i have a MAP of INDIA.

captainslater 08-10-2007 05:31 AM

Vossi mentioned on another place he has no geodata for India. So if someone could provide those he maybe would be apple to create a map of India :)

Vossi 08-10-2007 05:42 AM

It is possible to remove the state in front of the zipcode, so that people could enter e.g. 10001 for New York instead of NY 10001.

What do the american users think, which way is best and the most easy one for you to use?

@unitedpunjab:
We're still missing the geo's for india. And if somebody has the zipcodes for india then please let us know...

@rjmjr69:
Here:

What I think about is something like a 'map-construction-module' for this AddOn where a self-drawn map could be loaded and certain points be fixed with names by the users. Then it's getting converted into a 'map-package' and it can be used just like a normal map.

Hm..... that would take some time, but in generall it could be possible!

Give us some time that we can publish more major maps and after we finished and published 1.0.5 we might give it a try. ;)

Awesome thanks! No rush for sure, just happy that it is of interest! And the way you presented it sounds great. Surprisingly, I have asked this question of a number of existing map programs, even google maps, and although I have found it is possible in all of them, it never gets mentioned. Yet there are so many community created maps for fictional worlds! Anyways, I look forward to seeing this in the distant future, thank you for the response. ;)

I also mentioned a mod that would use a map in place of who's online. I think that is another idea you could look into. A separate membermap could also take over who's online, or become another option for viewing who's online. Seems like this would be a relatively simple addition to your mod, at least compared my other suggestion!

Zip codes in the US are 00000-0000, but you can just use the first five. So 34056 for example. I don't know as far as Geodata is concerned, but using 78654 will get a letter to the address! (assuming that is actually a real zip code... I just mad it up.)

Robert and I were talking about this alreday. What we think is:

We create an area in which the user can load his (self-)made map. After that, the user can chose points and places on the card where he sets those to an event like cityname or whatever. The locations are getting ficious geodatas which are out of row from the ones used for the normal maps. After the card has been created, it can be saved and loaded right into the vBulletin-Membermap.

Is that the way you thought about, too?

So it might be better for the input of the zip-code without the state (e.g. NY, MI, etc) within in...??? Okay, no problem from our side, we can easily fix this. What does the rest mean?

I think this would be handy. Any chance of a Map for Australia? I can provide the data that you need to build it ie zip codes(post codes in Australia) and i can provide the longitude/latitude details also if you like.

Uzbekistan... possible? :)

Yeah that sounds perfect! I can imagine there will always be ways to improve it, but that sounds like the right idea! :)

Yeah, without the state. There isn't anything I can think of that requires we put the state in. On mail, sure, but that isn't necessarily connected to the zipcode.

The extra four numbers are the postal code actually. Postal codes are extra codes for the post office to use when sorting mail. So technically, a U.S. zip code is just five numbers. :)

Can't wait to use this mod! If you need any help making the United Kingdom map I'd be glad to do what I can! :)

I'll see if we can get the geodata for it... It's on the to-do-list now.

UK will be the next map. What we actually need are the geodatas from Ireland. :o

That sounds quite logical, I'm going to change that today and upload a fixed map as fast as possible.
