My fastest system is...

Intel Core 2 Extreme 2.93 GHz 64 bit
2 GBs DDR2 667 RAM
2 - 150 GB Raptor 10,000 RPM SATA drives in a RAID Mirror
2 Dual DVI MSI MX8600GT OC DDR3 DX10 Video cards
3 - 17" Viewsonic LCDs
Vista Ulimate
Office 2007 Ultimate

I'm looking at upgrading it to 6 GBs RAM soon but I have a 5.7 out of 6.0 performance index on Vista so not too much else I can do to improve performance other then a new board and CPU.

Hey dude what is so great about the Core 2 Extreme? What is the difference?

Its been a while since I had compared the Core 2 Duo to the Core 2 Extreme but if I remember correctly it has more L2 cache and a faster bus. Plus its 64 bit but when I got the CPU it was new and only out for a month or two.

TomsHardware.com had rated its performance better then some of the quad cores as they ran at slower speeds and less cache.

The Core 2 Extreme has an unlocked multiplier, which is useless unless you're an overclocker. So if you don't overclock, don't buy one unless you have a lot of cash to throw around.

Yes, it can be easily oc'd to at least 4.5 GHz
