I uploaded the "upload" folder to /public_html/forum/ on my server.

I installed the product in the Admin for downloads.xml

I changed permissions on the download folder to 777 on my server

But, there is nothing working. Nothing has changed on my vbulletin.

What easy step ( i know it is - ill just hit myself in the forehead now) am I missing?

I appreciate any help!

Nobody? Nobody can help me with this?

I would really appreciate any help. Pleeeaaasssseeee.........:o

Try reuploading all files. This is clearly a problem at your server side :)

I have tried this several times, even uploaded all the files using cpanel. Could it have something to do with the fact that I have renamed the admin cp. I changed it from its original location?

EDIT: I just re-uploaded everything through Cpanel again. It is now working. Thanks for this great mod.

Thanks for the quick answer mate. I found a solution for the error and indeed, it was because of the usergroup permissions. It's really weird though. He was in two custom usergroups, both with a max file size limit of 100MB. But he only adds files of 1-5 MB. I set it for both usergroups to -1 and he can add files again. But it's still a weird situation. How can it be that I choose for 100MB but he isn't able to add a file of 1MB?

Thanks for the reply RS_Jelle!

Unfortunately your methode doesn't seem to work. It still links to the /forum/ url..

As I said, disable script debugging. I don't think it's coming from DownloadsII itself on the edit page, but from the WYSIWYG-editor. There are only a very few lines DownloadsII JavaScript (and they are mainly copied over from other vB parts, like the AJAX name suggestion).

You can edit the <img> code easily in downloads.php.

Did you upload the upload folder itself (wrong)? Or only its content (correct)?

You are understanding the permission setting wrong :D

"This is the maximum MB that a user can upload. Set this to -1 for there to be NO limit."

This is the maximum amount of ALL files a user can upload. It's not on a per upload basis.

Did you update your forum url settings ("vBulletin Options" -> "Site Name / URL / Contact Details")? If you run the Update Counters, DownloadsII will reload everything with the current forum url setting.

The style author (or you if you have modified it) has put the navbar buttons template hook in a wrong way. You can disable the button in the settings and add it manually to the template.

Any clue how to fix this?

darknusens 03-16-2009 02:38 PM

What are the names of the tables that get written to the database for this mod?
I see there might be about 8 but I'm not sure.
The ones I think they are are,

1. dl_cats

2. dl_comments

3. dl_downloads

4. dl_files

5. dl_images

6. dl_main

7. dl_stats

8. dl_votes

is there any other tables that are associated with downloadsII That I need to know about? The reason I want to know is for backup purposes.

Strange, as I'm using sql_prepare which should take care of adding quotes to the value.
You're the first having problems with it :erm:

Try this: open downloads.php and find
PHP Code:

$db->query_write("UPDATE " TABLE_PREFIX "dl_files SET `rating`=".$db->sql_prepare($voteinfo['total']/$voteinfo['votes'])." WHERE `id` = ".$file['id']);

replace with
PHP Code:

$db->query_write("UPDATE " TABLE_PREFIX "dl_files SET `rating`='".$db->escape_string($voteinfo['total']/$voteinfo['votes'])."' WHERE `id` = ".$file['id']);

That's all :)
+ some standard modifications to the user and usergroup table

Hey RS Jelle,

Any thoughts on BullDog148th, Redzzand, popowich and my posts? We're all having problems loading files over 10MB.

I hope you'll help us too. This seems like a great hack that I'd like to get it working on PC101.

Thanks!

Lyte

UPDATE: Okay, I just noticed your update to the Download Details...

"Help!!! I can't upload large files?? This is probably the second most asked question. Have a look at this post for the solution."

I will give that a shot. Thanks!

FWIW this is not an issue that seems fixable by increasing upload limits from a .htaccess or php.ini file. I can increase the limits far past a 30MB test file and can not get a 30MB test file uploaded. For example setting the limits to 100MB does not fix being able to upload a 30MB file. Any other ideas?

Getting this error and i know one of u fine peeps can help ...the download url in settings says: ./downloads/ but also says not to change it ..

The requested URL /downloads.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Thanks for bringing this around! A great and useful mod. I am going through the hundreds of pages in that thread--is there anything current I need to know? I have the mod working, it's great.

One thing, has anyone come up with a "template" option, where one could copy an existing sub-category and place it under a different main category? I have to create 6 subcategories that are essentially the same, and place them under a couple dozen categories.

Awsome MOD, now maybe my employees will stop asking for files that I sent them plenty of times -=). Don't forget to edit the php.ini or you will be stuck at 2M upload limit.

ZenMastr1968 03-19-2009 05:50 PM

Is there something in the code that prevents certain types of files to be uploaded? I wanted to add straight image files to the setup - not as an attachment to a zip upload. I added jpg as an upload extension, but when it tries, it gives me this:

The upload failed! Upload error.

Thoughts?

Say if I disable the Downloads section, only admins can see it and upload files. Where in the db can I add another usergroup to see and upload the files with the section disabled?

I want to appoint a few guys to help me stock the downloads section before enabling it.

cheers!

RS Jelle how to work....?

Panzer Max 03-21-2009 05:04 AM

Hacker, Here's how I did it

You never answered when I asked if you have access to SSH in. Do you? If you do not, you will need to talk with your server admin.

********

I run a game website, and we have guys who like to make small mods to make the games more interesting. Naturally, keeping up with these mod files is a big job. I love Downloads II, it will really make my life easier and my users are really getting into stocking the file bank.

Now, another question: I searched this thread but the key word is edit, so that didn't do much for my search. When I go to edit a file, I click the Edit button. I can make whatever changes are necessary--cool! How do I "submit" my edit? Is there supposed to be a submit button? I have been getting by with hitting ENTER on the keyboard, but that seems odd.

thanks Jelle and Cyber Ranger!! Where is your donation page?

How do I insert word "Downloads" in the menu.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/03/65.jpg

After user CP and before FAQ.
When the mod was installed the link was there, but after setting all the options the link "downloads" is missing.
When I open downlaods.php
The mod is working ok.
But the link is missing.
