so any people that sign up using facebook have no email on file and can not be contacted with Newsletters for example. is there anyway for the app to require a real email?

Well, easy way is to look on the admincp homepage - says it right in there...

Assuming you hooked your account up to facebook, you should see a popup when you post a new thread or reply saying "Publish this story to your Facebook profile?".

The message will just be sent to their facebook inbox - I don't imagine html will display correctly if you have any in your newsletter.

Actually it gets sent to the email address they have on store in Facebook if they allow the email options. It just goes by a facebook proxy to mask the address. HTML should work fine

I read all 58 pages. I have gone over all the steps three times.

My URL is www.amuforums.com
I have PHP 5.2.5 and MySQL 5.0.67-log.
vBulletin 3.8.0, and vBadvanced CMPS v3.1.0.

The facebook button doesn't show. Any idea what might be the problem?

EDIT:
I am reverting my whole forum to two days ago before I installed this and vbadvanced CMPS, and I will give it another shot from scratch before installing vbadvanced.

EDIT #2:
Reverting failed miserably. I am going to start with a fresh install of 3.8.0
Updates will follow.

EDIT #3:
I started fresh. The button is visible, but not working. The link as it appears is: http://amuforums.com/index.php#

EDIT #4:
Complete success. I changed the callback URL from HTTP://www.amuforums.com/xd_receiver.htm to HTTP://amuforums.com.
Tested in Firefox, and Internet Explorer, with flawless results. I also tested the login with a test facebook account, worked PERFECTLY. This is a great app, probably the single most powerful I have seen on vb.org.

EDIT #5:
I will now try to install vbadvanced CMPS. More updates will follow.

When i install this i get
Code:

Parse error:  syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/mummybra/public_html/imperfectlyrealparents.com/includes/functions.php(5723) : eval()'d code on line 9
at the top of my forums

Sounds like you made an error while copying and pasting.

UPDATE:
I started from scratch, with 3.8.0. I installed the facebook connect, it worked perfectly. I then installed vbadvanced CMPS, and it continued to work perfectly.

I think I may be getting one of those errors that are spoken a lot through these 58 pages, but it does not affect the functionality.

I installed and modified all templates. When clicking the icon "connect with facebook", the href is just a # and nothing happens.

[fixed]

Changed my callback from http://www.domain.com/support to http://domain.com

It's the callback URL in the facebook app.

What is your callback URL?

VanDaMe 01-14-2009 01:47 AM

if someone connected from facebook, are the database updated?

I mean, if he's connecting using his/her facebook account, then an account automaticly registered to vB database?
