Not doing anything different then usual either haha

Unable doesn't not really mean something, there certainly is an error message. Which software are you using to unzip ?

Anyone else expereciencing KevinL problem ?

KevinL 12-25-2008 06:33 PM

I got it to open with another program. When it unzipped the archive was called 'release' instead of [3.6.x-3.7.x.........]MGC..... which is weird.

Everything is cool though ;)

VBDev 12-25-2008 06:34 PM

Yes I know it's normal the folder I zipped was named release (I must admit that's dumb of me :D)

You were using the vBCms addon for the chatbox ?
If yes, I think it perhaps need to be updated, you should ask its author of the addon in that case.

Honk0815 12-25-2008 07:24 PM

Yes i have the addon for Chatbox. Chatbox 1.1.0 have good funktion on my Portal Chatbox 2.0.2 not.

crazyfalcon 12-25-2008 07:26 PM

Code:

Upgrade from the version 1.0.0 or newer
The upgrade instructions are the following:

  1. Upload the content of the Files folder in your forum root.
  2. Upload the content of the Images in each of your forum styles directories.
  3. Log into the admin control panel of your forum and import the product located in the Product folder.
  4. Go in the Download/Upload item of the Language manager menu and then:
        1. Select the English language file from the Lang folder.
        2. Select the forum language to overwrite.
        3. Set the Ignore language version option to YES.
        4. Launch the upload.
  5. Edit the posbit and postbit_legacy templates and add:

where you want the number of chats of the users to appear in their posts on the forum (if you activate the option).
  6. You have succesfully upgraded your chatbox, you just have now to set the new permissions and options.
  7. If you plan on using the option to display users number of chats in the postbit and/or in the profile, go in your admin control panel and run the update counter script from the chatbox menu in order that the older chats gets taken into account.

So if have read this right I do not need to remove the old files first before I up grade this now ?

I am running MGC_Chatbox_Evo_0.1.1

And Thanks for the chatbox

The js codes have changed so perhaps the addon is not compatible.

Ask the author of the vBCms addon.

Nope you don't but becareful you're reading the wrong update instructiosn as you run a version older than 1.0.0.

crazyfalcon 12-25-2008 07:31 PM

yes I see that now.
So I can just upgrade it with out any removing any old files
Man that is a big help thanks

crazyfalcon 12-25-2008 07:33 PM

Code:

Upgrade from a version prior to 1.0.0

The changes introduced in the 1.0.0 version of the chatbox were far too deep, I thus have decided not to provide an import script for this version. As a consequence, you will be loosing all your chats while upgrading to this version.

The upgrade instructions are the following:

  1. In the products manager of the admin control panel, remove the two products of the chatbox (the basic one and the commands one).
  2. Upload the content of the Files folder in your forum root.
  3. Upload the content of the Images in each of your forum styles directories.
  4. Log into the admin control panel of your forum and import the product located in the Product folder.
  5. Go in the Download/Upload item of the Language manager menu and then:
        1. Select the English language file from the Lang folder.
        2. Select the forum language to overwrite.
        3. Set the Ignore language version option to YES.
        4. Launch the upload.
  6. Edit the posbit and postbit_legacy templates and add:

where you want the number of chats of the users to appear in their posts on the forum (if you activate the option).
  7. You have succesfully installed the new version of the chatbox, you have to now set the usergroup permissions, options, commands and eventually create channels.
  8. If you plan on using the option to display users number of chats in the postbit and/or in the profile, go in your admin control panel and run the update counter script from the chatbox menu in order that the older chats gets taken into account.

I hope this is the one you are talking about ?

If you did an update to the new version don't forget to refresh the cache from your browser.

No no you have to uninstall the two chatbox products that you certainly have (hum perhpas in the 0.1.1 version there wasn't two versions if so then you just have to remove one).

crazyfalcon 12-25-2008 07:51 PM

Ok cool I only see this one in there...MGC chatbox Evo 0.1.1 Fully remade MGC Chatbox

I've only had a very quick look but is it possible to stop it posting threads from a certain forum or user?

I only ask as I have a couple of RSS feeds active and don't want the posts to show up in the chatbox.

Great new options and thank you very much!

I'm off out now and will look at the options fully in the morning!

The only possible problem is a wrong upload of the new chatbox files.

Have you any error in the console error in firefox ? (Well send me a test account with admin rights to your forum so that I check things out by PM)

I have refreshed the browser cache. I just installed 2.02, and now, all I see is "loading" and when I try to post a message in chat, I get this following error:

"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error."

VBDev 12-25-2008 08:07 PM

OH crap ... I forgot that vB3.6.x hadn't the new Ajax call features implemented ...

Damned...

I'll work on that right now and post a fixed js file today.

Hi VBDev,

I have 3 issues:

1)
Suppose we have a thread title as
Code:

GS"Champion
It appears at Chatbox as
Code:

GS"Champion
I think there is a typing mistake of quote?

2)
I informed you via e-mail but may be you forgot within joyfull times of Christmas :)
Row heights of Opera and internet explorer are different.
Check 2 screens below.

3)
I have a membergroup that can see some specific forums.
When a new thread is posted or a reply is given, alert at the chatbox is visible to unregistered users. But once the user is logged on, everything is as supposed to be.

10 Gauge 12-25-2008 08:41 PM

VBDev, thank you for the new version!!!

I have previously been running v1.1 and it was awesome. Took me some time to get past the "Loading" issues but I finally got it.

Of course now that I have installed the new version I get the infinite "Loading" issue once again. I have tried all the old "hacks" and tricks that I used to get it working on v1.1 but I still can't get it past "Loading" on the new version. I have kept my modded .htaccess file for the mod_security fix, I have added the var SECURITYTOKEN = 0 to my .js files, and deleted the customavatar.height_thumb etc etc strings from the PHP files. Nothing working yet. :(

I am running vb 3.6.6 just for reference. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

When you told me that I checked and I didn't experienced that in Opera. Which version of Opera do you have ?
