If anyone needs the space, I have a webhosting account I'm not using that I can upload any and all games to. PM me and I'll get it going.

Maybe he's charging for a membership to his MSPAINT art gallery. The downloads are free...

(My point is that crying about that stuff is useless. There are plenty of ways around it.)

Completely untrue. Even under several open source licenses, you cannot simply repackage an existing product and attempt to generate any type of revenue from it.

That being said, anyone stupid enough to actually pay for something like this is as lame as they are stupid. Simply think of all of the ways that people share copyrighted material and look there if you were interested. But do not post messages about file distribution of copyrighted material for a finder's fee on a Jelsoft site and expect people that actually care about the well-being of this company to not give a damn.

People can be so lame. Charging money for games they don't even own.

If anyone needs a mirror for the files, I have enough bandwidth.

You didn't read what I said.

LOL remember that when you've got lawyers jumping all over your ass ;) It's much easier to do the right thing, then you've got nothing to worry about if all hell DOES break loose.

Sheesh -

I have the infamous 7 zipped files... each one ranging from 1.2m to just over 9mb each. I also downloaded most of the "extra" games from the previously posted FTP, plus gathered a few from other places....but unfortunately they are moved into a different directory of games I've already installed.. So what I just did was to create another series of zips file called "favorites" which currently has 150 of the best games I have found, though there will be some duplications from the previous 7 zipped collections, but there's some good extra ones in there.

I also have All of the YetiSports + the YetiOlympics + Yeti StageDIve (all very popular on my site) and just created a yeti zip file for these.

If anyone is willing to offer a space for people to download I have no problem in sharing as I received them for free as well. Most of these games worked, but some did not, and some won't record the scores ( I'd appreciate any info on how to fix this!).

Anyway, I am not really looking forward to email around 100Mb of files around (my email service limits me anyway) but if anyone has some extra space/bandwidth and would be willing to be kind enough to allow people to download these for free, please contact me. Maybe you can set me up with temporary access to your FTP area and I could just upload them all there. As someone was kind enough to share them to me, we should return the favor and share them to the next person who maybe will share them as well...

One other option is to have someone here set up a free email account with lost of space (like gmail). We could post the username and password on here and do the "honor system" thing. Folks could log in and download the attachemnts. I don't know how long (if at all) something like this would work, but it would sure save the bandwidth issue!

E-mail me at ??? or message me on MSN at ??? and I'll set you up some webspace :)

Brent H 03-08-2005 07:27 PM

The only access I have to my server is root access, so I wouldn't be able to give anyone their own temp account to upload stuff. These other people are offering temp accounts though and I'd be happy to mirror the files in case traffic load gets too high or something happens.

sitka 03-08-2005 08:59 PM

maybe if this forum was moderated we won't hear the game request bs. i think everyone is capable of finding a game or two on their own if they are semi-intelligent. i'd rather see this thread as a support forum than a game warez-kiddie whine fest. i've seen this same attitude in the emulation scene. people ruin it but wanting games, games and games. the arcade can serve a good purpose but the few immature ones seem to ruin it everytime. history repeats itself that is without a doubt.

neocorteqz 03-08-2005 11:04 PM

I'll send anyone that needs it a gmail invite, just pm or post a email and name to send it to.

Although I'm sure everyone and their grandmother has a gmail account I have 50 invites to use. :p

I think that since v3arcade.com (the main source of people's games) is down, people who are willing to put collections of games up should be allowed to do so without people complaining about it. So what if people are asking for games? They've got no where else to go and ask, they just supposed to settle for some of the crappy games they can find scattered around here? I think it's awesome that people are willing to help others gain access to some of the nicer games.

How's this: We could do both! Steven White, I'll send you an email... it'll either be from my vbulletin site at simtechonline.com, or one of my other cheapie sites (low bandwidth, but what can you expect for a website for under $4 a month?). So don't be alarmed if it's something really weird like "alienskull.com" or "goodnerd.com".

I'll see if I can increase my email sending size so that I can get over the 10meg limit. I'll figure something out on my end. Both you guys - can your email accounts accept files greater than 10mb?

MissKalunji: would you be willing to sacrifice your gmail address so that it can be posted on here for everyone to sign into and download the attached zip files to the emails that I send there? If not, send me a gmail invite to me and we'll create a gmail account called something like v3games. Who knows... hopefully it'll act like some kind of co-op. As we get games we can share them through the gmail acct.

Sound gouda to you?

neocorteqz 03-09-2005 06:30 AM

ok, just sent 3 to sim tech, and 1 to ironhead (i think)

I'm email the Yeti zip file now... please notethat it's almost 3am here and I am zonked! I try and set up my Outlook to send as many as I can, but I am dead on my feet here.

Also - could someone else write and send the gmail account a quick letter entitled "read me first" or something like that? Just a letter for folks to read with the standard "please do not delete any of these files bla bla bla"?

I'll get the rest up in the morning, I also have just made another 5.9m zip collection of about 10+ ones I just stumbled across.

zzzzzzzzzz - all files are in route. Too much absinthe here and it's wayyyy too late.

Just realized, not a good idea. unlicensed users will have access this way. So at least edit your post to have code tags surrounding the the username and password. Or I will have a File uploaded with whatever is in the gmail that i grabbed. I will provide a link, but I will put it in code tags so the link will be unreadable by unlicensed/non-registered Users.

Edit: God this post bug is starting to get really annoying.

Edit2:
If anyone can mirror, please do. Address is in the attached txt file.

sniKsnAK 03-09-2005 01:13 PM

Maybe a stupid question, but how do I list all the game in one singel page. It's splitting the game-index up in 10s now.

Thanks :)

In arcade.php, find:
PHP Code:

$perpage 10

Change the number accordingly.

Here's a mirror in case the other links people provide don't work for some reason :) Both in .rar and .zip format because I know some people don't like RAR files.

Code:

http://www.hoytroid.com/v3arcade_archive.rar
http://www.hoytroid.com/v3arcade_archive.zip

If one of them isn't working, it's because it's still uploading.

sniKsnAK 03-09-2005 07:19 PM

Here's another mirror.

Code:

http://smackdownhq.com/v3games/

If you have more than one hack, you will need to Do the Arcade hack first.

Other than that its in the readme files that if you are getting that error you made a mistake while hacking init.php and/or global.php

iirc.

Protoman 03-09-2005 09:07 PM

found it.. my connection flaked out when I was installing. so, it didn't add the tables at the end.. reinstalled, problem gone. :)

Beowolf 03-09-2005 09:26 PM

Hi guys,

I've installed the hack, made sure everyone can view/play it in the usergroups permission area, but got the "you don't have permissions" error when at arcade.php, so I rehacked init.php and global.php and uploaded them again, but the same error stays. Any more ideas?

salem65 03-09-2005 10:05 PM

Hello, I installed this hack, and it works great except that none of the games will update the scores. The jsut hang at the submitting score. And Chopper when you click on submit score, does nothing.

http://triplexgay.com/arcade.php

any ideas?

Thanks
jbot

neocorteqz 03-09-2005 11:00 PM

May I make a suggestion.

If you post a link to your arcade, make sure it's viewable by unregistered users. One can not properly diagnose a problem if they are required to sign up. :)

Protoman 03-10-2005 01:46 AM

anybody know what games are 2 player enabled? if any? thx.

rjordan 03-10-2005 02:56 AM

As far as I know, no games are 2-player enabled on v3... at least this version...

rjordan 03-10-2005 03:04 AM

If this has been previously posted here or elsewhere, then my apologies.

I have found that if you delete a member and look at their awards (postbit mod is where I saw it), any unplayed games will show up under their or a guest's post (if you allow it). To fix this, I made the following change to the arcade hack:

In functions_showthread.php, change:

Code:

if ($award['userid']==$post['userid']) {
to:
Code:

if ($award['userid']==$post['userid'] AND $post['userid']!=0) {
This is caused by the member ID being set to 0 and unplayed games having a award user ID of 0.

Protoman 03-10-2005 04:26 PM

I can challenge users to a game, but how do you accept a challenge? nobody can figure this out on my site??

ya sorry bout that. :lick:
Here is a login if anyone out there can take a look and maybe have any idea of why the scores won't submit.

The person you challenge should get a PM and then next time they log into the arcade there will be a notification just below their profile. Then next time you visit the arcade after they have played there should be a challenge waiting for you. At least this is what happened when I tested a challenge. Also make sure in your usercp that you have allow challenges turned on.
