Place $footer_advertisement in the FORUMHOME template instead of the FOOTER template.

I'm afraid you don't have it set to display to Guests, that's the Usergroup option in Global Settings. The default is 6, which is admin usergroup only.

Putting images next to each is easy, the code would look something like this:

<img src="img1" /> <img src="img2" /> <img src="img3" /> <img src="img4" />

If all you want to do is add 4 images to the index page you can do without the plugin entirely and just paste the images code directly into the FORUMHOME template.

Then All I did was put a Space under the HTML code and Pasted it there again and it put it right beside the first one

I changed the Gloabal setting uSer Group display to 6|1
