Hi,
I have the shoutout box working, have done for years now.
But how do I make it, so it is displayed on every thread/forum instead of just the index page?
www.hip-hopkings.com/forums

Thanks

Try adding the shout variable somewhere in the SHOWTHREAD template... I'm not sure if it works, but it could.

Code:

$shout

Razza 10-14-2008 08:57 PM

Just add that?

Because when I added new styles and that a month or so back, I didn't need to change any coding for the styles to suit the shoutout box?

View Addons under the zip file. Thread called "vBShout on all pages"

darkakira 10-24-2008 02:28 PM

Anyone have a solution?

It seems like the cookies for the shoutbox (latest version) won't register or something. When a page is refreshed, user color and font setting are reset to default.

Running vB 3.7.3, latest vBshout. Product was installed (well... upgraded) upon installation of 3.7.3 from 3.6.8.

Tried clearing all cookies on browser, and clearing cache. Didn't work.

Shazz 10-24-2008 08:44 PM

Some old 3.5 mods your going to have to live without. There are better improved shoutboxes on vB.org

Yeah it's always like this, but I think there is a fix posted somewhere in this topic. ;) (I know since I've go it from this topic)

mikey1991 11-03-2008 02:45 PM

I downloaded this, and it doesnt allow certain characters, such as " > < " I need to know why? and how to fix it, as i use these characters lot

< and > are really spmming up the shoutbox, as most of my members use it.

A direct link to a fix would be the best, thanks

To be allowed to use very simple symbols like <, >, &, and " and not have them printed into HTML entities like <, >, & and ":

Open vbshout.php and find:
PHP Code:

$text htmlspecialchars_uni(trim($text));

Replace with:
PHP Code:

$text trim($text);

This will allow you to use symbols and still disallow HTML in shouts.

FOr those who had my prob, this is the fix. I searched, Thanks to Lady Azriel :)

CPOWA 11-03-2008 04:44 PM

Thanks Mikey!

Fix applied :)

mikey1991 11-03-2008 10:07 PM

no probs :)

ON the top of the shotubox? thats built in, i believe, for when you click the 'Smilies' Button, And about them alternating, i think thats a gimmick, not a bug ;)

Iceburg22 11-07-2008 04:09 AM

Is there anyway to add a user's total posts + user's total shouts in postbit?
The shout box I am using is vbshout2.0.

Yes, go here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=102920

Okay now to my question, what am I missing?

I see this image:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachmen...8&d=1124960026

With the fancy edit / delete / statistics stuff, but mine doesn't look like this.

What do I need to be adding?

BTW, my forums so you can see what it looks like (Shoutbox is on the bottom)

CFodder 11-19-2008 12:51 AM

Had a notification from my provider that the site was using too much CPU. Found it was due to the shoutbox updating every 10secs or so, how can I set it to update only when a post is made in it?

Nohani 12-02-2008 08:53 AM

I have installed this plug-in into my forum by using [Add/Import Product], but it does not appear at the forum home.

This thread is very long that's why I could not go through all thread to find the solution.

My forum version is 3.7.4 PL1

EDIT: It's working now.

Uninstalled vBShout the other day. Now I'm getting:

Database error in vBulletin 3.7.4:

Invalid SQL:
select count(*) as `ts` from shout;

MySQL Error : Table 'cpowa_forums.shout' doesn't exist
Error Number : 1146

I did the uninstall but, I don't know how to fix this DB error.

Can anybody help me out?

dopey1 12-19-2008 02:47 PM

is there a way to archive the shoutbox, instead of just pruning it?

Delos 12-21-2008 12:58 PM

Hi, it works well for all of the users I want it to work for but after creating a user called "Testing" and putting them into the "Users Awaiting Email Confirmation" group I noticed that when I added the "Users Awaiting Email Confirmation" group (ID #3 for me) to the shoutbox banned list and specifying that I don't want this group to see the text in the shoutbox I see this error in the shoutbox text area (when logged in as "Testing"):

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in [path]/vbshout.php on line 293

The simple answer of course is to remove viewing ability of the shoutbox but I'd like people to know that my forum has a real-time chat system so I need the code to be fixed. Thanks.

P.S. I'm using the "vBShout_fixed_v3.zip" files.

Shazz 12-21-2008 01:36 PM

Please look at this version number
Version: 3.5.0 RC2

And 3.6 was lucky it worked fine.

johkalhaups 01-04-2009 01:29 AM

Is there a way to add more IRC type commands like /slap, /wave or /notice?

Not in this current version.

dopey1 01-05-2009 06:20 AM

I would suggest to all, to use the 2.1 version, works great on 3.7.4, can't find it? google it.

Tetractys 01-05-2009 07:17 PM

Has there ever been a fix posted for that double quote issue?

Yes, I got it from this topic... I just don't remember how to do it, so oyu gotta search. :( Search this thread for "special character" or something like that, you'll find the answer. ;)

I just tried the most recent suggestion that was posted... it didn't work. I suppose a better question is which one actually works?
