How long does it take to run the sitemap generator? I tried running it and it just sits there for like 10 mins+. Never ends. I closed the window.

it depends on how many URLs do you have on your forums. Did you get any sitemap files created in vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder?

How come in Google the number of "Indexed URLs" keeps declining, even though the number of URL's in my sitemap grows every day? Aren't the 'indexed URLs' supposed to be increasing?!

because a sitemap is only a guide to show google that the pages are there , google will only index pages its thinks are relevant or that have backlinks to that page, you need to look at your on site seo and internal linking to help your site get more indexed pages imo

for the google webmaster tools(sitemap submission), i should submit
mydomain/sitemap_index.xml.gz

or
mydomain/sitemap_1.xml.gz &
mydomain/sitemap_2.xml.gz

instead?

Yes, that's normal - sitemaps don't need a stylesheet.

I manually run the sitemap generator from the vbseo_sitemap panel and it says

[SECTION START] tags [8,993.9Kb mem used] [206,838s (+24,781s)]

and waiting so nothing happens.

what should I do?
