Oh, cause you have to post from the /temp/forum dir, not the /forum dir, otherwize the code you inserted would not run, and the table that the front page reads from wouldn't be updated.

I have a private section on my board and I see under Latest Forum Discussions, threads from that board are showing! Yikes.

they only show up if you are logged in and have access to those areas.

Log out and go to the front page.... you won't see them.

Anyone else seeing a bunch of issues with this when upgrading to 2.3.2?

Specifically, the avatars will no longer show, and the polls won't display? Must be an issue with 2.3.2's new way of doing a few things, any ideas?

Alien 08-10-2003 04:48 PM

Never mind, I got this taken care of now!

Forgot about the template updater after a vb upgrade!

msimplay 08-10-2003 06:13 PM

I get a weird error every so often where there is a huge gap between top of page and the start of the header
it goes away when i refresh but it shouldn't be like that

check my header in the attachment

and on the right side of my homepage i dont know why but the right block with radio in it is a little bit below the one on the left

There was a hack for that to fix it at the teckwizards.com (but they're gone now.) Maybe you could ask someone for the modification required? Or just remove microstats from that page, that's another option.

msimplay 08-10-2003 08:15 PM

fixed micro time just need fix for The header and right side blocks

OK, I have the vbhl 4.2 with the archive add-on. Now I have just moved my forum to a new server. everything is fine except that the archive is now giving me a 404 page. It worked fine on my old server. Anyone can help?

Here is the .htaccess file that I used before:
<files archive>
ForceType application/x-httpd-php
</files>

<files forumdisplay>
ForceType application/x-httpd-php
</files>

<files showthread>
ForceType application/x-httpd-php
</files>

RedirectMatch 301 /archive$ http://www.mysite.com/bbs/archive/

Is it because the new server has a higher version of PHP?

Blindchild02 08-12-2003 02:52 AM

Ok, first off.... i Upgraded to vb 2.3.2 and it ++++ed up all those templates, it moved all the HOME PAGE templates to custom templates, and it removed all the ones i didnt edit... so my ++++ is pretty ++++ed at the moment...
but i can fix it IF i could add the templates seperately, is there a text file? instead of the automatic thing?

also...
does anyone have any hacks for this?? cuz teck's forums are down :\

Well obviously the templates have to be located somewhere ;)
Look in the files, searching for some strings located in the templates.

Blindchild02 08-12-2003 10:05 PM

er. wut..?

er. wut..?
The templates are located somewhere in the vBHomeLite ZIP file, just look for them in each file until you find them.

Most likely the installer.

Blindchild02 08-12-2003 10:25 PM

i did :) and i fixed it....

www.xamira.net

thanks for the Idea Gary ;)

Gary King 08-12-2003 10:27 PM

Does anyone happen to still have a pristine copy of this hack file?

searchengine_indexer_v14.zip (for vbHl)

It went away when teckwizard.com went down earlier this month...see what happens when you don't pay attention to things for a while? :)

TIA!

I need this as well. It would help us greatly if the zip was accessible here, as vbHome Lite is.

Because he's working on vPublish and doesn't want to spend any more time on the forum.

What is the fix for the insane server load time?

drumsy 08-14-2003 08:12 PM

Also, someone had a hack on TW.com that allowed me to pull posts from a specific forum and display it like Recent Discussions. Does anyone have any idea what that code could be again?

This is a minor change required to make it work in vbHome (lite).

FILE: vbHL global.php
FIND:
Code:

$pagestarttime = 0;
if ( isset( $HTTP_GET_VARS['showqueries'] ) or isset( $HTTP_POST_VARS['showqueries'] ) or isset( $showqueries ) )
{
  $showqueries = 1;
  $pagestarttime = microtime();
}

REPLACE WITH:
Code:

$pagestarttime = microtime();
if ( isset( $HTTP_GET_VARS['showqueries'] ) or isset( $HTTP_POST_VARS['showqueries'] ) or isset( $showqueries ) )
{
  $showqueries = 1;
}

Eh...that's just ugly. I am not sure what went wrong, but it was a super simple hack to install...make sure you followed every step very carefully is all I can offer.

[i]2. added the backend.php file (XML feeder, so you can syndicate your news and forums)

Also the [high]XML feeder[/high] will let you syndicate the news and latest forum discussions to any RSS compliant tool.
The most popular ones are Trillian and KlipFolio, but you can also import it in others.
Check the TW.com Instructions Page to see how you can set it up.[/B]
OK, always a day late and a dollar short...anyhow, can anyone offer me any pointers or tips on getting the XML feed customized to supply more than the default...

TIA,

Does anyone know if the add-ons will be released? or is there someplace that still has the code for the available addons?
