if you did, there is a last thing you can try, but i dont recommend.

in the downloads.php file, find the line

Code:

define('CSRF_PROTECTION', true);
change true to false

let me know if this works.

That actually wasn't a question, that was a statement. It does that for all of us when a download is finished. It's supposed to. What he was saying was to check your Category to see if the download was there.

spinz4 12-26-2008 04:59 AM

If I don't want categories and just want one main page how do I go about doing that? I basically want all my downloads to be on the main page.

Thanks.

I think you have to have at least one category.

This mod works with any version of vBulletin 3.7.x and 3.8.x!

SOLVED: This is really sweet but I'm getting "you do not have permission to access this page"

NEW ISSUE: When I click on the "more" in the file description the link takes me to the file download page. I noticed this page breaks my template as indicated in the attached screenshot

" on the left colon in ACP "
I installed it , now try to see how it works

Drakah 12-28-2008 06:25 PM

Can you please tell me if this version lets you customize the fields in the download file information section? I am in desperate need of adding in a field called "Version:" under the Date of the download. I also need that date showing to be the date that the file was last updated/edited.

SuperTaz 12-28-2008 06:40 PM

Edit: Nevermind...fixed it. Installed.

I tired to do a import on a existing directory. It didnt work in my specific case and thats no big deal, but after purging everything I am stil left with this.
The download stats are a bit, erm, inflated. Ideas on how to reset it? I looked over the dl_tables and didnt see where this value was coming from.

RedGTiVR6 12-28-2008 08:38 PM

I just need to check something before I install this update.

The instructions for the upgrade are the same as for a fresh install. Is this to assume that if I upgrade my install, I will have to create all categories again?

Thanks!

No, you won't have to recreate anything. All that's updated are the modifications files and functionality.

The download pages are wider then your skin, and you skin isn't designed to stretch in the event something wider appears in it. That would require someone going in and redesigning it or tweaking it in a few places.

There are no custom fields and only the upload date is shown.

Look here at this forum and see how when you click downloads it goes straight to the category? That's what I am looking for.

Thanks

Um, what forum would that be?

spinz4 12-29-2008 03:31 AM

Oh crap I forgot the link sorry..

http://forum.widsm.org/index.php

Digital Jedi 12-29-2008 03:34 AM

He still created a category. He just linked the Downloads link in the navbar directly to that category. That's why the link goes to cat&id=1.

http://forum.widsm.org/downloads.php?do=cat&id=1?

spinz4 12-29-2008 05:43 AM

Ya I figured that but just not sure how to complete the task as I am still fairly new to coding and vbulletin.

Thanks

Digital Jedi 12-29-2008 07:10 AM

Do you know how to edit your navbar template? Just replace the download.php link with the URL to your category. If you haven't edited your navbar before, there's some good instructions in the articles section on how to do that.

spinz4 12-29-2008 07:30 PM

Ya I can handle that thanks for the help!

karel1985 12-30-2008 07:07 AM

Hi Jelle,

I saw some nice feature in your DownloadsII 6.0 version. That Updated downloads looks good.
Any idea when 6.0 will go public? Looking forward to use it

Best regards,
Karel

tlwwolfseye 12-30-2008 03:38 PM

It is not possible to just set certain downloads just to lets say "Registered Users" only, right ? Because the exclusions that are possible in the settings aren´t so good. Would it not be nice to have each Category seperately setup with who can download from it, or even for each file.

Is there any alternative to that ?

columbusgeek 12-30-2008 03:44 PM

The exclusions work perfect. They offer very granular control. Matter of fact if it was how you suggested it woudl not offer as much control as he has coded it.

tlwwolfseye 12-30-2008 03:46 PM

When i exclude a Category and someone goes to a file in that category, all he gets is a "Invalid ID" message, instead of a "This Download is only for registered Users. Please register to be able to download this". This would make much more sense for people coming and wondering what a "Invalid ID" is, which sounds more like the download link doesn?t work to them.

So you have to admit, setting permissions like i said is much better for people to understand. Exclusion is not really the solution here.

Categories or even single Files should be able to be set to a certain usergroups / s only. At least Categories. For files too that would be maybe too much to ask, but the categories should be never the less. It is that way in ANY other Download Script, if its an external Software or a Mod for other Forum Softwares, like i had before.

columbusgeek 12-30-2008 03:57 PM

Maybe I should clarify how I am using it.
Quote:

...When set to "No", all categories can be viewed except the ones listed below.
and then I insert the categories I do not want users to see.

Users who are not allowed to see the category never see it. Maybe you have something setup wrong? I dont have the user id error you mention.

When you exclude a category, they shouldn't even be able to see the link to that cat in order to be getting that error message. The cat link is removed from the main page for them, and if that the only subcat in a top cat their allowed to see, then it will be treated as empty.

tlwwolfseye 12-30-2008 04:03 PM

Links to the files in that Category show still up in the Top 5 Files when one of these files is in this list. So they still see the link to a file that is in that category. Yes, the Category itself isn´t there anymore but links in the Top 5 etc. would be still visible and give unregistered users the "Invalid ID" text when they click on it.

That could be done more nicely with a message like i posted above. And if they don´t see the category at all, they don´t even know that with registering on the site would actually give them that other Category.

So if they dont know its in there, there is no reason for them to signup to the forum. So that doesn´t really makes it more helpful.

columbusgeek 12-30-2008 04:13 PM

As a workaround couldn't you edit the "invalid id" message in phrases to something that fits your needs?

Probably because you still have them set to Can View Files. If you want them to be able to see the files and get a No Permission message, don't make the whole category excluded. Keep the category visible and fine tune the yes/no permissions above that setting.

I'm having problem with the upload. I'm getting this error:
The upload failed! Upload error.

I made the .htaccess file with the text:

php_value upload_max_filesize 30M
php_value post_max_size 30M

and uploaded it, but then I got an "Server Error", so I can not use the .htaccess file.

Anyone know what's wrong?

Thanks

columbusgeek 12-30-2008 09:50 PM

Are you on a Linux server? Does your host allow .htaccess php overrides?

You need to look over your webhosts specs to find out more information. I suggest looking over their forums.
