Look at Paul M's post at the top of this page and you will see the word "Download" in the right-column. Click the link to download the text file called Members online today.txt

I cant figure out this bit...where is the forumhome template?
I've search through the whole vb folder and cant find what it is?

MickDoneDee 04-24-2005 07:58 PM

The forumhome template can be accessed in the Admin Control Panel. From there click Style Manager which is in the Styles and Templates dropdown menu. To the right of All Style Options click the Expand Templates icon << >>. Scroll down until you find the Forum Home Templates. Double-click to expand and look for FORUMHOME. Click it and then click the Edit button to make changes to the template.

Nice one bud...works :D

Thanks a lot :D

xtreme-mobile 04-25-2005 06:04 AM

is there anyway of getting it to list how many posts you have done that day

for example,

admin,test-account (5), test (2)

Paul M 04-25-2005 10:51 AM

Nope.

There is a related hack for "Who has posted today", but again this won't display the number of posts.

gregsbaby64 04-27-2005 05:02 PM

I have the users posted today and users visited today in the top nav and the template just expands, I would like to put a line break in there so that the users would just move to the next line. Right now it's just throwing off the template, I'm so tempted to just take it off, but I like having it on the top.

Is there a way to put a line break for the users online (as well as users today)? If so, is it in the index.php where I put the hack? Where would the line break go, details and code if possible would be great, thanks!

They are great hacks, Paul, thank you for writing them! :)

TIA

Paul M 04-27-2005 06:56 PM

Sorry but I don't really understand you. I tried looking at your site - but guests don't appear to be able to see anything.

gregsbaby64 04-27-2005 07:24 PM

Never mind, Paul, I just took it off and moved it to the bottom boxes. I didn't know and still don't know where to put a line break as the template just expands in the upper navbar box.

Yup, you have to be a female and registered to see the forum. I do have a test user, but everything is hidden from view with that user as well.

brianstevz 04-29-2005 01:15 AM

Great job on the hack. I had this working immediately. Very easy to install.

kobescoresagain 04-29-2005 11:47 PM

Hey is there a way that you can get this to reset at like 2 am or something. It always disappears around 11 my time. Thanks

Mickey19781978 05-02-2005 02:03 PM

great job m8ey

cheers

Yes, you could make it reset at 2am if you really want. I don't quite follow the second part of your post. Btw, you are not showing as having this installed :)

Bubble #5 05-03-2005 05:03 AM

The instructions say to run this query:

HTML Code:

ALTER TABLE user ADD INDEX (lastactivity)
But when we do we get an error saying "Table doesn't exist". Our database has vb3_ in front of everything, so should we change that command to;

HTML Code:

ALTER TABLE vb3_user ADD INDEX (lastactivity)
...I'm just guessing here

OK THANKS Paul for letting me know :)

I may not know how to code (yet) but common sense goes a long way

larryd 05-04-2005 02:38 PM

Installed and works great. One thing I'd like to see though is Most Uses Ever Visited in a Day; I read through the first 12 pages and did not see this. Any idea how I could make it work?

angelicGrace 05-04-2005 02:50 PM

works perfectly. thanks bunches. :)

This hack does not do this, nor will it. This was deliberately kept as simple as possible. There is a more complicated version around that does this, but that does not have some of the other features this hack does. :)

Fuzzy Logic 05-05-2005 08:05 AM

Superb, and very easy to install.

Many thanks, a great little mod.

Well crap; I really like being able to see when I have had more users online in one day then ever before. So theres no way for it to work with this hack at all? I figured it would be simple storing a variable?

I didn't say there is no way for it to work, I said this hack doesn't do it - and I have no plans to change this hack. However, I have been playing with another hack (to split the max online into members & guests) that may also have a sort of plugin for this hack (and a couple of other hacks of mine). Keep an eye out for it. :)

cheech4487 05-09-2005 10:41 PM

 Installed! Great Hack! Thanx this was a pleasure to install with "no" problems whatsover!

GSX-Racing 05-10-2005 07:05 AM

I installed, but when you click a members name in the list it would take me to this page.

http://www.gsx-racing.com/public/cgp.../SNAG-0069.jpg

This happened before and the fix was to find and replace in the templates. .php - .phtml as on my server vbulletin is installed with the phtml extensions.

Anyone know how I might beable to fix this. It showed up and worked nicely, just the clicking on member names didn't work as planned.

[b]Disregard, I got it fixed. I had to edit index.phtml as there was one piece of code in there directing to
PHP Code:

<a href='member.php?u=$today[userid]' title='$wrdate'

so I just changed it to member.phtml.

Eagle Creek 05-10-2005 05:05 PM

uuhm

It just shows up empty: http://www.antispywareoffensief.nl/forum/index.php?

Eagle Creek 05-10-2005 05:12 PM

Oooooops, I didn't upload the file. I'm sorry!

Capricia 05-11-2005 11:59 AM

Tnx alot guys, it was really easy to instal and works like a charm (Y)

Paul M 05-11-2005 04:41 PM

For those that use it - version 2.00 of the CMPS module - the instructions and template file for it are here ;

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=593209

Simply use this onlinetoday.php in place of the old one.

MixMakers 05-14-2005 05:52 AM

Sorry, I didn't read all 21 pages, but I'm having a problem with this hack. All seemed well when installing it, but sometimes the function does not work.

For the last two days, it seems as if the hack stops working at around 9PM, then starts to work around 1-2 AM. Not sure why it does this, but any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Paul M 05-14-2005 09:19 AM

If you have it installed then please click on install :) . FYI - I don't really see how it's possible for it to only work some of the time.

Abaweet69 05-22-2005 06:02 AM

I love it! Thanks! Makes my site look even bigger :)

mkdevo 05-26-2005 11:02 AM

Paul M - great mod! installed yesterday and love it, as do my users! thank you!

i was actually going to ask the same thing, but i see it's been answered already. Paul, just wanted to let you know that there's definitely interest in this, but the mod is great regardless!

mkdevo 05-26-2005 11:26 AM

d'oh! just saw your other mod. ;) disregard.

it could be something to do with the two digits numbers in the hour of the time between 10 and 12..

ie looking at 8,9,10,11,12,1

the times that don't work all have two digits in the hour portion of the clock..

oz_moses 05-26-2005 01:27 PM

Hello,

I've installed and it works wonderfully. The only thing is that when I added the CMPS module it now doubles the $whotoday string at the bottom of the forumhome. Perhaps this is cause my CMPS is integrated with my forumhome.

ie. in the CMPS module it shows

but then at the bottom of forumhome it shows

Paul M 05-26-2005 04:58 PM

Ah, an interesting side effect of running it twice.

in the [CPMS] onlinetoday.php

add ;

PHP Code:

unset($whotoday);

above ;

PHP Code:

// ############# End of Who has visited today ###############

oz_moses 05-27-2005 08:32 AM

that's got it.. thanks again for a superb hack.

oz_moses 05-27-2005 09:37 AM

I just checked out your other hacks and think I'll be installing a few of them also! keep up the good work from Nottingham

Ever since my recent server move, at around 7pm or 8pm CST, the users online today reset, instead of it happening at midnight. Any idea as to why?
