If you are using VBIndex there is a module to include your featured article.

EDIT: Nevermind, I fixed my problem.

nickels376 07-19-2004 04:14 PM

I've got a real quick question, posting HTML into the Articles system is causing a spacing issue where the HTML is listed almost a page down and the rest of the space is blank - You have to scroll down to get to the actual article and the tables are all spaced out whacky.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

TTG 07-23-2004 06:47 PM

Thankfully installed on my test forum before installing on main ..
Too many missing icons in too many different areas and uploaded images don't show .. GD is enabled and Rebuild Attachment Thumbnails done .. think I'll come back to this thread in a few weeks when all the bugs have been ironed out .. :)

Littlebit 07-23-2004 07:09 PM

I think the changes vB made to fix that SQL error while building attachment thumbnails may be why the images are wacky now with this hack... I'm sure John's all on fixing it for next release.

alzibub 07-25-2004 06:16 PM

Hi,

I have installed this on VB3.0.3 - and am having issues - sorry !!
It is a clean install of this hack...

When I navigate to the article.php - and then click on either 'Main Catagory' or 'Main Sub-Catagory' - I get an SQL error as follows...

Database error in vBulletin 3.0.3:

Invalid SQL: SELECT * FROM article
WHERE categoryid=2 AND (articleuserid=1 OR open IN (0,1)) ORDER BY dateline DESC LIMIT 0,
mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 2

mysql error number: 1064

Also - I can't see any buttons for adding a new Article - I figure they are on the next page but cant get that far because of this error...

I have removed and re-added using the install file - but still the same :(

Sorry - any assistance greatly appreciated

Nice work John, I'm using it on my personal site. :)
One thing I noticed though... I don't believe I'm the one that created your templates. ;)

Koutaru 07-26-2004 02:40 AM

I've noticed a really small thing, when you comment, the "" and & shows a HTML standard code. ?_? Anyway to fix?

spence2 07-26-2004 03:07 AM

Is there any chance that this wonderful hack will be updated to work with vB3.03?

TTG 07-26-2004 10:43 AM

Clicked install .. great hack .. will prove very useful .. added today and now playing around with it and had no problems.

Installation instructions easy to follow.

Edited / added a couple of changed graphics to fit my theme and all now working well.

If you successfully install this hack, could you please mention in your "thank you" to John which version of vB you are using?

'Just trying to confirm that it works without further modifications on vB3.03 ... thanks for the info!

Worked great, John!

Still one minor issue though. I can post small articles and I can include more content to existing articles, however if I post one LARGE article, nothing will be added (nothing includes, title as well as content).

Now, ive read through all posts in this thread, and im making a guess that the following post indicates the problem I am having:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=195

If this is by design, what would I need to do to alter this so I can post large(r) amounts of text at one time? If this is a bug, is there any immediate plans to fix it?

Thanks again for a great mod!

Not sure what happened - but my other admin was able to view the Articles, post articles the whole 9 yards - I then re-checked and now I can see it all - no probs...

Got no idea what changed - so can't elaborate...

In response to spence2 - I have VB3.0.3 - I have rolled it through all upgrades since RC2 of VB3 - and yeah it now works.... although no idea what caused the initial SQL errors I was getting..

Cheers for a cool hack :D

Mephisteus 07-26-2004 07:07 PM

very handy, very handy indeed.

trekwarfare 07-27-2004 03:36 PM

I'm thinking of using a section of this for my members player sheets. Is there anyway to prevent extra spaces in posts from being removed?? Our character sheets have tabbed columns, and when posted, those are removed (the extra spacing that is).

Just wondering if there is an easy way to go about this??

Thanks for the wonderful hack!!!!!

Did anyone find a way to fix the thumbnail issue in vb 3.3??

TheLegendofLink 07-29-2004 08:02 PM

Hey would it be possible to make this an add-on for any of the Portal systems on vB.org? I think this would be perfect for a Review section for my Zelda site I am in the process of making. Thanks to anyone who replys.

- TheLegendofLink.com

Edit: Nvm I found a place on the Add-on section of the vB3 hacks, and it should do what I want. Great hack I will install this later.

Mickie D 07-29-2004 08:28 PM
