Well reporting back on my success, I was able to code the chat from VSA and have it working separately on each domain or sub-domain. :)
But Im having a problem now with google. :p all the links on google are wrong and redirect to the main forum and not actually the post or thread well it was. Now all my forum links are rewrote.
Any have an idea how to get spiders from google to get new links?

Is anyone here using VbSEO with this Mod?
I have 4 sub-domains working with this mod, but unfortunately google is linking to one forum only, I have VbSEO, is there any method to fix this? maybe a major re-write but what else can I do? Do I have to buy a license from vBseo to each domain?

When you say that "google is linking to one forum only" do you mean the links that are appearing in the Google index are wrong or something else (eg: some kind of redirect after clicking on a link in the Google index)?

Yes, to be exactly, all the google links to my site all redirects to my forum home and not actually the thread. I think I will have to do a major re-write on my board.

Another problem is, Im only getting spiders or crawlers on just one forum and not the other 4 subdomains. I will PM you my board so you can see how I did.

This by far is the only thing that is really annoying and I worry about.

The best by far is the sidebar, it pulls threads or any info from only that domain which is nice. I have done the same with the VSA Chat to work separately to each forum having their own chat. Vbadvance rocks with this mod as well since it allow you to add as many portals you want so i did one to each forum.

But my worries are now for the link re-writes and the spiders visiting my forums

Any ideas mate?

Can someone - WHO HAS THIS WORKING - publish their Cerberus options set up in here please.

Mine doesn't even look to be working and so wanted to see what yours were like and try and fix my options.

BirdOPrey5 01-17-2011 12:58 PM

I posted my exact working settings in Post # 139 in this thread. Here.

FReeSTER 01-17-2011 01:38 PM

Since I have installed this any of the Admins dont have access to the adminCP. Looks like a cookie problem because I login at CP but takes ma back to login again. For me to login I have to disable the plugings through FTP editing the config.php file.

Any ideas what can it be or how can I fix it? I have disable each mod on my site and there is no problems with any of them except Cerberus. When this Mod is disable I have access to AdminCP with no problems.

Any advise please?

I have try fixing this issue since ever got this working but Im giving up sa I cant see the problem.

Try This:
Settings > Cookies and HTTP Header > Cookie domain = for suggested settings use blank and see if that solves the issue.

yes is set to that and have the same problems. I have changed it to .domain.com to see if it works but still having same issues.

I have no idea what it could be.

What will happen If I remove the cookies settings on the Cerberus Mod? will that make forums buggy?

I'm not sure, but it didn't work right for me.

I wanted to make it so the same cookie would work on all the sites but it seems the cookies needs to be set correctly for each domain.

andrefedalto 01-19-2011 09:13 PM

For the ones that are having problems to login on AdminCP/ModCP, follow this:

Go to AdminCP > Plugins & Products > Plugin Manager > Edit plugin "Domains Login" from Cerberus. Replace the original code:

PHP Code:

$vb_cerberus_login vb_cerberus_iframe("login");

$templater vB_Template::create('STANDARD_REDIRECT');

$vbulletin->templatecache['STANDARD_REDIRECT'] = str_replace('<div class="standard_error">
'
$vb_cerberus_login '<div class="standard_error">
'
,
$vbulletin->templatecache['STANDARD_REDIRECT']);

for this:
PHP Code:

if ($vbulletin->GPC['logintype'] != 'cplogin' && $vbulletin->GPC['logintype'] != 'modcplogin')
{

$vb_cerberus_login vb_cerberus_iframe("login");

$templater vB_Template::create('STANDARD_REDIRECT');

$vbulletin->templatecache['STANDARD_REDIRECT'] = str_replace('<div class="standard_error">
    '
$vb_cerberus_login '<div class="standard_error">
    '
,

$vbulletin->templatecache['STANDARD_REDIRECT']);

This fix the problem with login to panels. Be aware that you need to clear your cookies to get this working also.

I read that it does not work with the CMS. What if one site has the vB CMS and the other one doesn't? Does it work then?

Is it possible to have a different favicon for each domain?

Good Question, One I would love to know the answer to. To be honest I hadn't even thought about this.

sticky 01-20-2011 06:31 AM

One other minor issue, if you allow "what's new" across domains jumping to first unread post usually doesn't work, it just takes you to the thread.

Would it be possible to allow jumping to first unread post between domains?

merk_aus 01-20-2011 12:20 PM

Okay a quick question for someone out there that has this working.
How are you setting up the additional domains?

I have gone into cPanel and clicked Addon Domains, added the details for the domain eg: domain1.com, an ftp username, password - however where I get stuck is the document root eg: public_html/blah/blah.

Is someone able to tell me how the domain is set up am I doing it right?
When I add in the details when I type in the domain name (once the Cerberus stuff in the options is set up) when I type in domain it just directs straight to the normal forums and not the boards/set up it should be.

Sorry if I am rambling it is 1:30 am and have been up all day.

Please help if you can.

BirdOPrey5 01-20-2011 12:39 PM

You can manually specify a favicon using this code:

Code:

<link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="/path/image.png" />
In your header... so putting these lines along with the conditionals I posted earlier in this thread that would show up depending on the domain you were logged into should work.

I would remove/rename the favicon.ico file if you do it this way so the browser doesn't get confused.

Awesome work man, greatly appreciated.

FReeSTER 01-20-2011 04:16 PM

Im using vBseo, how can I make sitemaps for each subdomain and make it work on SEO? I dont think Im getting crawlers or spiders on any of the sub.domains

What can I do on this case?

Might be splitting hairs here, and it would be good if a staff member jumped in on that point. Technically unless I misunderstood the modification, it is one installation of VB 4x and if used in subdomain mode it's still only one installation, just with different subdomain pages that can be customized to individual use.

Not much different from a lot of other social networking software that allows subdomains without charging for individual licenses for each subdomain.

Like I said though, staff should jump in here and clarify this point, I know a few people that would use this, but why bother if they have to buy a copy of VB for each subdomain? May as well have their own complete site then.

Guys, if you like this mod please vote for it for Mod of the Month- just a few days left. Vote Here.

It's in danger of losing because I think a lot of people just don't understand exactly what this does, but it's clearly the best think to happen to vBulletin in the last 3 years.

Absolutely correct, this is the best thing to ever happen to VB I just think the average user can not appreciate it.

It took a long time to come out but what it is does is absolutely amazing and was a large/necessary step for VB 4.

randy17875 01-23-2011 03:25 AM

Just voted for it. Really it is one of the best things to happen for VB users for a long time. A lot of other software out there already has this feature and VB had fallen behind on this.

Kevin (Username: KW802) posted a fix for that and several other issues earlier in this thread. I suggest anyone attempting to use this mod read the whole thread before installing it- that's good practice for any mod especially non-supported betas.

clathrop 01-27-2011 10:02 PM

OK, I have this mod working for the most part, but it knocks out my smiles under the [more] link
Code:

. Has anyone else experienced this? I searched the thread and didn't see a discussion about it.

The same thing I wrote above applies to you too. You need to read these threads before asking repeat questions that were already fixed.

clathrop 01-27-2011 10:49 PM

My apologies. I used the search this mod function for smiles and it came back with zero results. I would assume that is the easier way to look for something vs reading 22 pages of threads. I will go try search again, or start reading from the beginning.

BirdOPrey5 01-28-2011 03:46 AM

If I recall it was in or near post # 220 but not sure. Also the official term is: smileys.

iBaker 01-28-2011 08:51 PM

I have gone live with this mod however it looks like I will have to remove it as there are far too many issues with it on my site. Most of my other mods don't work but I guess this mod would be ok for stock standard vb installs.

vbDynamics doesn't work (I have 10 instances of this mod)
vbLinks doesn't work
Members who have visited (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=221579) doesn't work
Even after making the changes to the Archives I still get a warning error across the top of the Archives page
Chat room doesn't work as it is licensed to only one domain
Same as vbTubePro...only licensed to one domain
and most importantly once this mod was implemented I noticed an impact on SEO figures

Sorry, the concept is great and would be a great asset to vb if it became a vb feature that was supported so mod developers would develop their mods accordingly.

Still have a great need for this so does anyone have any suggestions on alternatives? I have 6 domains with each one having geographic specific TLDs that need to have a category of forums dedicated to each one with the remaining forums across all domains
