@Dark Wizrd ~ This option doesnt work : This allows you to change the transparency of the category icon when indicating "Old Posts".

When I post new threads or posts the transparency stays the same. And I have pressed Yes to the option above it!

Dark_Wizard 09-01-2010 10:42 AM

I will upgrade to 4.0.6 later today and will check it out. Been real busy lately, sorry.

PJSkiboy 09-03-2010 02:09 AM

This seems to work from the standpoint of replacing the status icons as described. However, I seem to be having a little spacing issue between child forums. Reference image below. I'm running 4.0.6, fyi.

Also, as you can see in screenshot, I have the tabbed forum home mod installed as well.

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2010/09/55.jpg

Also, from the screenshot, you can see the forum description "blah" in there. It displays beneath the forum title as it should, but then it also randomly appears over at the very left edge??? I checked and I don't have any breaks or anything mysteriously in there. I'm guessing this has something to do with the template edit?

That mod does have the following forumhome_forumbit_level1_post modification:

Code:

==============================================
forumhome_forumbit_level1_post TEMPLATE EDIT 1
==============================================
INSERT AT BEGINNING OF TEMPLATE:

<vb:if condition="(THIS_SCRIPT=='indexTFH' AND (in_array($forum['forumid'], $_REQUEST['tabcat']) OR in_array('all', $_REQUEST['tabcat']))) OR (THIS_SCRIPT=='forumdisplay') OR (THIS_SCRIPT=='index')">

==============================================
forumhome_forumbit_level1_post TEMPLATE EDIT 2
==============================================
INSERT AT END OF TEMPLATE:

</vb:if>

I did the template changes to the status icon mod manually since i already had this change in the forumhome_forumbit_level1_post template, per the instructions. (hope i followed them correctly)

I'm wondering if i went back, reverted the template, let this mod automatically change the template and THEN go and insert the other template mod, if that might fix the spacing.

UPDATE:

OK, I ended up just reverting both forumhome_forumbit_level1_post and forumhome_forumbit_level2_post back to their default version. So this overwrote the manual template modification I did originally. Then, I went back and allowed the settings to automatically update the templates and it seemed to fix everything right up. Which is good.

The odd thing is, the forum home tabs mod, had an edit in the forumhome_forumbit_level1_post template, but after the revert, that mod continues to work anyways. :dunno:

Did you choose "Replace Status Icon" from the drop down box in the Forum Category Icons Settings?

theoutlawed 09-09-2010 03:07 PM

sixdemons 09-16-2010 06:56 AM

Nominated.

great work.

shanef 09-18-2010 05:03 AM

Question, I installed this mod and wanted to use the icons https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=249496 is there a way to have them to switch between them when the thread is locked, new post, etc... I followed the Install file and can't seem to get it to work

TIA

pedrossi 09-19-2010 07:28 AM

This may seem like a dumb question, but I don't see any option to set icons for the forums under "manage forums"... where can I set them?

ProFifaLeagues 09-19-2010 07:43 AM

goto admin cp then forum manager click on the forum you wish to add the icon too and the last option should be add iforum icon!

Hm, I don't see that option at all... the last thing I see is Enable/Disable Features. I must have done something wrong when I installed the mod then, right?

ProFifaLeagues 09-19-2010 05:50 PM

<i>did you import the product ??</i>

If you want you can PM me login details and I can check it out for you. Just create me an admin account, provide the url and I will look into it for you.

Thanks so much for the offer, but Rammie PM'd me earlier and solved it. Not sure what he did, but it worked :D

Great! Enjoy....

pportuese 09-23-2010 06:12 PM

Got it installed and fixed some minor issues I had. I can see the icon I pic in the adminCP however it doesn't show on the forum itself. Why?

Did you let the mod make the template changes for you or did you do the (what is it, six?) template changes yourself?

pportuese 09-24-2010 01:48 PM

Ah that did it. Thank you. Now here is a question can I make some different sizes that others? Some I want a longer banner and some I want just a short picture. Also can I make it go after the words of that forum?

kf4eok 09-28-2010 09:03 PM

great mod, I have been looking for this. I have it working on 4.0.7

red-dna 10-09-2010 09:37 PM

Any way we can also icons work for Sub-forum display on the Forum Home?

pportuese 10-12-2010 06:23 PM

How do you make these icons links?

btlewand 10-12-2010 10:16 PM

The icons are working well for me in Firefox, Chrome and Opera. However, they shift to the left and look choppy in IE. An example of IE8 is included http://www.digitalcfo.com/forums/ima...stom_icons.jpg.

Anyone else have this problem and is there a quick css fix?

Boofo 10-12-2010 10:32 PM

Looks to me like a skin issue. It works fine in IE7 and IE8 on the default skin for me.

Eduardo Leon 10-12-2010 11:20 PM

nice add on .. !

thnx

btlewand 10-13-2010 12:47 AM

@Boofo - I basically copied the default skin to create a new skin and have been changing background colors in the stylevar settings. In addition, the original vBulletin standard icons still show fine using IE in the subforums where I haven't yet added an icon so I'm perplexed as to why changing the icon would cause a viewing issue particularly when all other browsers work perfectly (IE always seems to have some css standards issue!). I'll keep searching online but if anyone has any ideas let me know. I would hate to think I'm the only one having IE issues given I've only modified background colors in the stylevars.

Boofo 10-13-2010 01:34 AM

Try playing with the "Category Icon Positioning" setting and see if that helps. Also, I don't have the sidebar enabled on my site so that may have something to do with it in IE.

btlewand 10-13-2010 01:54 AM

Once I adjust the positioning settings to move the icons to the right, IE looks ok but the browsers that work properly are now unaligned. Plus, I'm not sure why the icons look "gritty" in IE but look fine in all other browers. From my experience seems like their is some CSS setting that needs to be added for IE, but just not sure why or what I've done in configuration that is giving me this issue (but no one else).

Boofo 10-13-2010 02:22 AM

Have you checked them in the default skin? If they are working fine there then it has to be something you have changed somewhere.

btlewand 10-13-2010 03:59 AM

OK, I've disabled another plugin called Everywhere Sidebar which appears to eliminate the positioning problem but the icon quality still looks poor in IE compared with the other browsers. How does the icon quality look for you in IE vs other browsers? Should I investigate further or acknowledge that icon quality in IE is not as good?

Boofo 10-13-2010 04:15 AM

I use PNGs instead of GIFs as I found that GIFs don't look as good in IE.

btlewand 10-13-2010 04:47 AM

I had PNGs but resaved as JPGs and now IE AND the other browsers show the icons at the same quality. Thank you Microsoft for those extra hours of unproductive time!

Boofo 10-13-2010 05:17 AM

That is strange. The PNGs show the same for me in all browsers and better than the GIFs I had before.

Eduardo Leon 10-22-2010 08:07 PM

well . dont work in vbulletin 4.0.8
