Taringa! CS 06-04-2011 01:22 PM

Is it possible to make mentions work on an external posting page? (Like for ie: A form submited with easyforms? (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=201097)

Thanks in advance

SBlueman 06-04-2011 01:51 PM

Is it possible to be able to have usernames auto-fill when inviting members to a thread?

Support for that would need to be specifically coded, so no :(

Thanks filip! I found a way of hardcoding it and insert the 2 queryes that makes a mention work :P

Are you sure you loaded all the files to their correct directories?

What version of vBulletin are you running?

leannet 06-05-2011 02:32 PM

3.8.6.

I've just checked and it looks like everything is correct.
It says no such file in directory, but when I go to that directory I can see the file.

leannet 06-05-2011 02:33 PM

Should the dbtech folder be in /public_html

ozzy47 06-05-2011 02:36 PM

Yes it should.

leannet 06-05-2011 02:45 PM

ok good thats where it is :)

leannet 06-05-2011 02:47 PM

My users get this error
Fatal error: Class 'vB_ProfileBlock' not found in /home/****/public_html/includes/class_profileblock.php on line 55

Is it possible for me to just delete it all, I didn't save my original files though. Can I get them from some where ?

ozzy47 06-05-2011 02:56 PM

As soon as Fillip get's a chance he will have to answer that for you.

You appear to have uploaded the contents of the dbtech folder instead of the contents of the upload folder, and thus corrupted your vBulletin install.

Please follow the instructions in the readme.txt file which states that the contents of the 'upload' folder should be uploaded to your forum's directory - meaning the contents as-is :)

You need to re-upload all the vBulletin files and then upload AUT as described :)

That depends on what exactly you're referring to :)

The dbtech is inside the upload folder so thats why I thought I had to upload it

auto-fill usernames when inviting members to a thread.

leannet 06-05-2011 11:10 PM

Does this look right
http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...rs/usertag.jpg

And because Admincp and includes are both in publichtml I assumed thats where I should out the dbtech folder

Are you saying I should not upload the dbtech folder at all, but go into that folder and upload the files ?

DragonByte Tech 06-05-2011 11:12 PM

In screenshot #2, mark all of those files and upload them to the public_html.

If you have a large forum, I would suggest not using this plugin. Why? Because it can be used to DDOS your forum. Apparently some smart ass spammed mentions or viewed mentions with a bot, and completely took down my forum. Not only that, but deleting mentions also makes my mysql go ape shit.

A question to the fine folks at DBTech......

Will having the ability to use the auto-fill feature when entering in usernames to invite to a thread be a feature we could look forward to seeing in the future? And if yes, would this feature be available to 3.8 users? How about the ability to invite entire usergroups to a thread?

Such is, unfortunately, the case with any mod that adds new functionality. For the time being I don't think there's anything I'm able to do about that :(

If you mean thread tags, then it's something we'll take into consideration for future versions :)

If I have a little more information about it, maybe I can optimize it a bit myself: Where is that query coming from and why does it take so long to delete mentions?

Also, if you would implement something that limits how many mentions a user could post, it would plugin performance. Perhaps limit mentions per post and per day, so it can't be abused. I've noticed that deleting a full page of mentions takes me like 30 tries, most of the time it times out.

DragonByte Tech 08-01-2011 03:53 PM

It's in /dbtech/usertag/includes/class_profileblock.php :)

Deleting mentions isn't a feature, unless I'm misunderstanding you.

Fillip

Deleting posts with 200+ mentions seems to have a negative effect on performance (Assuming that mentions are deleted while doing that which accounts for the negative performance).

Disabling mentions for self (at least notifications), auto mark mentions as read after x days and limiting the number of mentions per post or per day will definitely help plugin performance.

DragonByte Tech 08-01-2011 04:17 PM

Mentions do not get removed when a post is deleted.

You have single posts on your forums with over two hundred mentions per post? O.O

Nothing wrong with that per say, just that it hasn't been tested under those conditions :p

Not by choice, of course. That reminds me, users get mentions when a mention has been quoted. It creates issues when deleting posts where mentions have been spammed 100's of times (the lag issue).

DragonByte Tech 08-01-2011 05:11 PM

Detecting mentions within a quote tag is kinda difficult, so yeah that will happen until we have a chance to look into it more :)

Wow, this would be a great added feature, one that many of my members have requested. It seems so many of them are used to this feature on Facebook. This addition would convince me to purchase the pro version if made available. Thanks for the great mod. My users LOVE it!

buzzdc 08-24-2011 01:44 PM

Everything was working fine for me for 2-3 days but now something has seemed to break.

When a member MENTIONS another member [MENTION member name /MENTION], the tagged member gets a notification that he/she has been tagged, but the post itself only shows the '@' without the tagged member's name. It appears as @%1;

Any idea, what's going on? Do I need to edit the replacement field in the BB code manager?

If I uninstall and reinstall, will all previous tags disappear? (which I am trying to avoid)

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

It's extremely difficult (if not impossible) to implement, though, so I wouldn't hold your breath ;)

I have been making small changes here and there but I'm pretty bad at keeping a log of what changes I have implemented.

I just did an uninstall of the plugin and a reinstall. This is my now my issue. The @username tagging is not functioning at all. When using the mention feature the user does get a notification, there is no trace of the mention in either members MENTION boxes, and no the posts shows nothing at all. Any idea? Here are the plugins that I currently have loaded:
